conviction of this bank robber. live in the wayne section of radnor township, i'm vernon odom channel6 "action news." >> all right, vern, thank you. a person of interest is in custody for a hit-and-run that injured two people in the hunting park section of philadelphia. the victims were leaving a family party last night when they were struck. it happened right about 10 o'clock near the intersection of sixth street and erie avenue in hunting park. investigators recovered the suspect's heavily damaged nissan maxima near his home on fraley street. the man and a woman who were hurt do have serious injuries. >> well, there is new video of three men wanted in connection to an armed robbery in cobbs creek. a crate weird man walking in the area of 62nd and pine streets last tuesday just before midnight. that's when two men got out of a red sedan and approached him with guns drawn. well, they stole his wallet his watch and phone and then jumped right back into that sedan that was still waiting and then sped off. if any of these people look familiar or you know anything

conshohocken curve as you head toward the blue route no traffic is getting by. you want to stay up on ridge pike, down on route 23 conshohocken state road or down on route 30. it's a mess. fully engulfed in flames. a lot of smoke at this point billowing across the road and we're still waiting on those fire crews the ladder truck to arrive. obviously we'll keep tabs on this. as you head westbound towards the blue route, let's go back to the blue route, chopper6 hd high over the sky over our accident scene in the southbound lanes south of the route one media bypass. truck is now attached to a tow truck. they still have that right lane blocked and quite the backlog as chopper6 pans out you can see all the people waiting to get by this accident scene and head down toward 95. it is a long slow crawl. check out that park pentagon lot from chopper6 hd on the blue route southbound. let's go back to the maps and then we can see some of the speeds. 8 miles per hour, 3 miles per hour, 320 jammed with detouring traffic as is 252.

lehigh valley, points west where temperatures are right around that 80-degree mark. in fact, allentown the warmest right now at 81. as we look to the west, there is a few high clouds that are coming in from the south and west but overall that sunshine in control and will remain in control for another day. so, for tonight, we'll have a moonlit sky out there and very mild, 53 allentown, 56 philadelphia, 54 in wilmington and even at the shore where it's cooler right now you're going to kind of even out with those inland locations in the mid-50's. as we look at the day planner for your tuesday t-april 11th, record tying around here is what we're going for in philadelphia which is that 84 degrees. we'll already be in the 70's by 10 or 11 o'clock in the morning and then in the afternoon into the 80's, so so far a great week if your children have spring break this particular week. but there are a few showers we're tracking here for the middle part of your wednesday in the morning at 10:30, a little area coming in with a cold front to the north and west. they wouldn't last long,

♪ find out how much your car's worth ♪ >> ♪ >> it is 4:30 now and "action news" continues with break news from springfield delaware county. >> an accident has parts of the southbound lanes of i476 shut down at this hour. dann cuellar live now near the scene of the crash with the very latest. dann. >> reporter: sharrie and brian, we are on an overpass overlooking the accident scene. this is southbound traffic on the blue route which right now still backed up for a couple of miles as emergency crews work to clear the wreckage from the roadway. one lane of traffic is getting by as you can see going southbound. this all happened around 2:30. a box truck which says miller commercial truck leasing on its side collided with an suv. that resulted in the suv being squashed onto the concrete barrier on the side of the roadway at mile marker 4.1 southbound just north of beatty road and just south of the media bypass. two people in the suv were reportedly trapped and had to

be extricated by rescue crews. both of them suffered injuries and had to be airlifted by helicopter to area o hospitals. conditions unknown at this time t we were told there were no fatalities. a large wrecker is on the scene here as you can see they've removed the box truck and looks like they're getting ready to tow it away so it should be just a short matter of time before the south much southbound lanes all of them should be cleared here on the blue route again just south of the media bypass. that is the very latest from here, reporting from springfield, delaware county, i'm dann dann cuellar channel6 "action news." >> dann thank you. we turn now to the changing face of camden courtesy of its police department. five years ago the city was one of the most dangerous in the country but the same cannot be said about 2017. new jersey corresponde nnta muchanic live now in camden with more on the new numbers and the reason behind them.

hi, nora. >> reporter: hi there. it's been four years since the camden city police department was disbanded and the camden county police department took over. that meant a change in philosophy and training away from the use of force whenever possible. in the video you're about to see illustrates how these days the last thing cops in camden want to do is pull a gun. >> drop the knife. >> reporter: among the millions of videos posted on youtube is this one from the camden county police department. it shows in detail a deranged man swinging a knife and ignoring officers' to put it down. instead of shooting the suspect a dozen officers surround the man and walk several blocks with him until he finally drops the knife and is subdued. >> the core of everything that we do from a training perspective is based upon the sanctity of life and putting a value on someone's life separate from the behavior they're exhibiting. >> reporter: the incident happened in 2015 but reflects the change in training and fill fees for officers. there are more out on the street and critical incidents

like this don't have to be resolved immediately. it's okay to slow things down. and as long as cops are at a safe distance they can reposition and try to diffuse the situation. >> they have pride in saving lives in a different way without having to take a life to save a life. it's just a different culture in the police department. >> reporter: it seems to be paying off. there hasn't been a murder in camden since december. and compared to the beginning of last year, murders are down 89 percent. aggravated assaults and violent crimes have also dropped. >> it's not an us versus them situation, it's the residents working with the police to help solve and prevent crime. >> they don't play no games. when you call they come now. >> reporter: this life long camden resident says he's no fan of police in general but things have improved. >> it's a big difference. they come around they be on the bikes and stuff. they make sure the neighborhood going to be safe. especially for the kids when they get out of school. >> reporter: that that community policing is going full tilt in camden. things are not perfect here,

there's a long way to go but the move away from the use of force whenever possible and creating relationships with the public, well, that is improving. live in camden, i'm nora muchanic channel6 "action news." >> what a difference there, okay, nora, thank you. as police in montgomery county continue to investigate whether cyber bullying played a role in the death of a ninth grade girl, the community is that rallying behind her family. over the past 48 hours, nearly $47,000 has been raised to help the girl's mother pay for a memorial service. the freshman who we are not naming took her life last week. police are investigating weather a vulgar and cruel text message reportedly sent from a spring-ford student drove the girl to homicide. >> hoping new pictures help solve the murder of a 65-year-old woman in philadelphia. police are calling these two men persons of interest in the shooting dench winifred harris

in her home. the nonprofit executive was killed on the 300 block of north holly street back on february 23rd. a $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction. police have not yet said what the motive for this crime might have been. philadelphia police are also looking for two men who got violent with a senior citizen during an attempt robbery last month. surveillance video shows the robbers walking into a haitian variety store on north 64th street. both point guns at a 77-year-old worker but one starts to choke him while demanding money in haitian creole. the men ran away without getting anything when the employee started yelling for hip. now anyone with information about this crime should contact police. >> the trial of three girls charged in connection to a deadly fight inside a school is wrapping up wilmington. a pediatric cardiologist served as the last witness in the amy joyner francis case today.

the doctor testified the 16-year-old suffered from a rare undetected heart condition and they are death way -- was unforeseeable. the autopsy found the emotion and stress of the fight inside a bathroom led to the teen's sudden cardiac death last april. one of the girls has been charged with criminally negligent homicide. two others are charged with conspiracy. closing arguments have set to begin tomorrow. >> a proposed natural gas pipeline in new jersey faces a new challenge. the environmental group the sierra club is appealing the approval of the pipeline saying it does not primarily benefit people living there. the pipeline will carry natural gas 22 miles between the maurice river township in cumberland county to a power plant in cape may county. passing through the federally protected pinelands preserve. the new jersey pinelands commission gave the green light for that project. >> well, i think most of us can agree it is a.m. fabulous springdale outside today. >> uh-huh. many of the kids have this week off. >> perfect timing.

by his arms. jayse explains his face was slammed against an armrest he started bleeding from his mouth. these videos are going wildly viral. he explains on video it looks like he was knocked out because he went limp and quiet and they dragged him out of the plane like a rag doll. >> no, this is wrong. oh, my god, look at what you did to him. oh, my god. >> chicago's aviation department says one of its police officers involved did not follow standard operating procedures and has been placed on least now united airlines calls the situation upsetting and says it has apologized for having to "reaccommodate these customers" but never specifically apologizes for the forceful removal of that passenger. we haven't heard the end of that one yet. and new mexico has become the firsttate in the nation ch shaming for ave lunch money. this follows a wave of stories where students got stamped called out or even forced to clean lunch tables just to get

afternoon on the travel times. they are overflowing record setting travel times on some of these roads brian and sharrie like the schuylkill expressway. here's the scene of our earlier vehicle fire westbound right in the conshohocken curve as you can see fire crews did arrive on the scene. the fire is now out. the shell of the vehicle still there and police are still on the scene as well. so, the good news is both lanes are now opened in both directions. bad news is you're still looking at speeds like 2 miles per hour on the westbound side from approaching the boulevard out to that scene. eastbound is also bumper to bumper from 202 into the conshohocken curve because they had a lane blocked on the eastbound side with a fire truck for awhile. bottom line, instead of the schuylkill i would use ridge pike 23 or 30 aren't the speeds are still not so hot on the blue route, 476o southbound side at a crawl from approaching villanova on down to past the route one media bypass where we still have the truck accident blocking one of the two lanes. single digit speeds in that stretch as well. again, you want to take alternates like 352, 252, stay

as far away as you can though because all the roads around here are crowded. two accidents on 95 in delaware. you've got southbound speeds in the single digits coming down from 202, slowing again around newport because of that crash. burlington bristol bridge going up in about 10 minutes. i'll tell you what else is up, drone6 this afternoon look, at eakins oval in front of the art museum. new restrictions phase one of the restrictions with the nfl draft preparations went into effect at midnight. all day we have been getting used to this. two lanes blocked in front of the art museum in the oval. you've got spring garden street westbound blocked headed toward. the biggest impact kelly drive one lane blocked on the inbound side right by the art museum so especially in the mornings as you're coming inbound on kelly drive by boathouse row expect major delays with that one lane out of commission. we'll check it again, brian and sharrie, plenty to check in the next half hour. >> you're going to be a busy guy for some time, matt, thank you. meteorologist adam joseph

56 degrees for center city with that south-southwesterly wind. tomorrow 80's kind of blossoming in more locations than today. 82 in reading tomorrow, 80 in millville, 85 in toms river. could be record tying here in philadelphia of 84 degrees. this will be the warmest day of this upcoming week. at the shore instead of the 50's tomorrow, we should go back into the middle and the upper 60's. tuesday we're ahead of a cold front here and that spikes the temperatures up temporarily into the mid 80's. mostly sunny once again with high pressure off of the carolinas. and then this cold front sweeps through on wednesday. there will be a quick little hit of some showers from the mid to late morning hours from the west to the east but then returning sun in the afternoon with high pressure that will dominate the sky for the end of the week. so o-the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast t-will show 80's one mr. day with record territory tomorrow. that quick little area of showers wednesday morning giving way to sun in the afternoon of 72.

abc's donya bacchus joins us live from san bernadino. >> reporter: rick and monica, this is an extremely active scene. we've seen law enforcement officers armed law enforcement officers still patrolling school grounds and in addition to those law enforcement officers we also have seen dozens of concerned parents looking for their children. >> possible active shooter at north park elementary. >> reporter: a school on lockdown. >> these guys are moving these students in the north. >> reporter: lines of elementary school students being rushed to safety and law enforcement officers surround, the building after police say multiple people were shot at north park elementary school in san bernadino, california. >> three down. >> reporter: police believe the shooting which happened in a classroom is a murder-suicide. two adults were killed, two students injured. are you able to hear any news of her. >> i can see her from here. that's why i waited here until i can s
