abc's donya bacchus joins us live from san bernadino. >> reporter: rick and monica, this is an extremely active scene. we've seen law enforcement officers armed law enforcement officers still patrolling school grounds and in addition to those law enforcement officers we also have seen dozens of concerned parents looking for their children. >> possible active shooter at north park elementary. >> reporter: a school on lockdown. >> these guys are moving these students in the north. >> reporter: lines of elementary school students being rushed to safety and law enforcement officers surround, the building after police say multiple people were shot at north park elementary school in san bernadino california. >> three down. >> reporter: police believe the shooting which happened in a classroom is a murder-suicide. two adults were killed, two students injured. are you able to hear any news of her. >> i can see her from here. that's why i waited here until i can see her.

>> reporter: parents on their cell phones anxiously waiting to learn the status of their children. >> she's scared, you know, mom come and get me and i'm told i was -- i told her i'm here. >> i want to hug her. i going to hug her. i hope she's okay. >> reporter: and we have learned that the two adults killed were a man and a woman. that woman was apparently an instructor at the elementary school. the man they're saying was known to the school. he apparently was able to sign in at the front office before making his way to that classroom. the two students who were injured we're told are in critical condition. they apparently were the unfortunate victims of proximity. they were not targets in the situation. police say they're still working to establish a motive t reporting live in san bernadino, california, donya bacchus channel6 "action news." >> in the nation's capitol judge neil gorsuch was sworn in today as the newest supreme court justice. >> i neil m. gorsuch to

temperatures for your neighborhood and the upcome at this forecast it also has the exclusive minute cast the only minute by minute precipitation forecast for our region. >> in other news three men are now charged with committing nine armed robberies across the region. police say they held up nine different 7-eleven stores in montgomery and bucks counties and philadelphia. 19-year-old quentin archie, 19-year-old philip coleman and 18-year-old nazear newton first arrested for robbery in ambler in february. investigators have since connected that em to -- them to eight additional crimes. radnor police searching for the man who robbed a bank of america branch on lancaster avenue in wayne. the man was captured on the bank surveillance cameras back on april 7th at 12:30 p.m. a by that stand also took pictures of his getaway car. there is a $3,000 reward being offered in this case. >> a law enforcement official who testified today in eric frein's capitol murder trial

said searching for him was like looking for a needle in a haystack. state police major george above sense talked to the jury about jury -- bivins talked about how difficult it was to find him. a marshall put his boot on the back of eric frein's head to control him. frein is accused of ambushing two state police troopers killing one of them em faces a potential death sentence if convicted. some upgrades are coming to philadelphia international airport. the new project will focus on improving the terminal experience with new amenities and more shopping and dining options for travelers. "action news" reporter john rawlins live at the airport tonight. john you and learned all of this in a report on the larger economic impact that the airport is having on the region didn't you? >> reporter: that's correct month and -- monica.

most folks may not know it doesn't use any tax revenues for their operation here. rather they raise their money hereby lending fees and rent. the airport according to a report that was released today has a significant financial impact on here. the figure that's been calculated is $15.4 billion. a day at thert. their bags.nd getting them on and off an airplane. economically what's all this worth? plenty according to this gathering of vip's. >> the airport generates $78 million in tax revenue for the city. >> reporter: a report commissioned by phl says there are 25,000 people who work for the airport and airlines. kelly cameron is the airport's ceo. >> those jobs are really good jobs. the average salary for those airport jobs is more than $50,000 a year. and so again it's a great economic impact. >> reporter: the number of takeoffs landings are actually down from 2005 but the

upcoming nfl draft in philadelphia took effect today around the philadelphia museum of art.ring phase one of the traffic res lane of the ben franklinparkway is closed along with a stretch of springn street westbound at pennsylvania avenue. now, let's go overhead to drone6 for a live look. you can see there appears to be several stages under construction. art museum steps right there. and you can get the ful of road closures for the nfl draft on our web site at 6abc.com. well commuters ran into travel restrictions on two of the area's major highs ways today. penndot had to close some lanes for bridge inspections in philadelphia and montgomery county. one northbound lane and one southbound lane on i-95 were closed for several hours between broad street and packer avenue. crews also closed one eastbound lane of the schuylkill between for 76 and the belmont avenue interchanges. >> part of an historic street in washington square is that getting makeover. american street from delancey to spruce will be revamped with upgrade of curb ramps

and resetting pavers. they will also reset sewer inlets. the water department will be doing work to restore the sewer main. the road is closed and a detour is now in place. >> all right. monday night. leggett a check of our "action news" traffic report for you now. >> let's go live to mattlman in the "action news" traffic center to see what's up. how was your weekend. >> weekend was good. a whole lot better than this afternoon commute has been rick and monica. what a mess. we've had a string of big probe latest of which is here in delaware county along 95 and southbound side right at ridley park. it's a serious accident. someone injured in the crash. you have an ambulance police, penndot all on the scene so southbound traffic is that extra heavy as you come away from the airport and head down towards the blue route o speaking that of blue route still an hour and a half on the southbound travel advertisement it should be about 20 minutes. no no, hour and a half because of an earlier and southbound truck accident just south of the route one media bypass. that's completely gone now but you're still looking at single digit speeds.

>> police in wisconsin are hunting for a man suspected of stealing weapons and threatening to carry out an unspecified attack. officials say 32-year-old joseph jakubowski recorded himself mailing an antigovernment manifesto to president donald trump. jakubowski is a suspected of stealing a large quantity of handguns and rifles. he also got a bulletproof vest angel met. concerns ramped up late last week when a friend of jakubowski gave a copy of his

160 page manifesto to police. >> american astronaut and two other crew members who had been working at the international space station are coming back to earth. now expedition 50 commander shane kimbrough and two russian astronauts said goodbye after spending almost a half year in space. the space explorer made a safe landing today in kazakstan early this morning. welcome home. health check tonight a tiny bug is becoming an even bigger headache for exterminators. >> health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman is at the big board with a disturbing development on wed bugs much that is a creepy picture behind you. >> i know. i feel icky standing here. fighting bed bugs has always been tough a new trial at purdue university says it may be getting more difficult. researchers there found some bed bugs are becoming resistant to two more widely used insecticides. five out of 10 test groups were resistant to one while three out of 10 showed resistance to the other bug killer. bed bugs are already resistant

to several other chemicals. they urge pest management companies to use a variety of methods to get rid of them. well, if you're monitoring your heart rate during exercise some devices are better than others. fitness trackers you wear on your wrist are great for counting steps but maybe not for measuring heart rate. researchers tested four brands and compared them to an ekg. during exercise, the trackers were significantly inaccurate. they were off by 23 to 41 beats per minute. devices worn around the chest are said to be much better. well cochlear implants unlocked a new world for people who are deaf especially children but once they can hear with a device, doctors know very little about how they make sense of the sounds. so a study is under way at ohio state university to understand that learning process. they're using cameras at six different angles plus eye trackers to record

williams wanted me to point out this is his shore house so everyone is 59 -- invited. if you're at the coach today all kidding aside we're dealing with choppy waves right now choppy water because you're getting the wind coming straight up from a southerly direction so we have sustained winds right now 16 miles per hour in wildwood 14 miles per hour in atlantic city, 15 in toms river. 13 in philadelphia. 9 miles per hour there in millville. so temperatures at the coast certainly much cooler in comparison to inland locations. it's 58 in cape may but 80 degrees right now in philadelphia. so nearly 20-degree difference in comparison from the coast to inland. 77 lancaster 80 degrees in allentown, the lehigh valley. here's satellite6 along with action radar. we have quiet conditions thanks to a dominating ridge of high pressure but you look off to the west, you can see across the great lakes and portions of the ohio valley we will be tracking some weather headed our way as we get into the middle half of our work

western pacific the ocean. north korea's recent ballistic tests and continued pursuit of a nuclear program raised tensions in that region. president trump and south korea's leader agreed to stay in close contact about north korea and other issues. the u.s. pacific command directed the carrier group including the u.s.s. carl vincent to sale north from that singapore. secretary of state rex tillerson says the u.s. is rededicating itself to hold to account "any and all who commit crimes against innocent people." tillerson made the comments during a visit to site. he was alluding to the recent chemical attack in syria. >> a controversy has erupted for united airlines after video showed officials physically removing a passenger from an overbooked flight after no one volunteered to get off. passengers reported the incident that showed the man

deadly fight in a school is wrapping up in wilmington. a pediatric cardiologist served as the last witness in the amy joyner francis case today. that doctor testified that the 16-year-old suffered from a.m. rare undieketed... undetected heart condition. one of the girls has been charged with criminally negligent homicide and two others are charged with conspiracy. closing arguments are set to begin tomorrow. police are still looking for the person who shot two men in strawberry mention. a 27-year-old and 47-year-old were wounded in the 2500 block of marsden street at 9:30 last night. the 47-year-old man is hospitalized in critical condition. the other man's injuries are not as serious. police say they do not know the motive. >> in philadelphia, a homicide investigators hoping relee

released video can help solve the murder of a 65-year-old woman. police are calling these two men persons of interest in the shooting death of winifred harris in had your powelton village home. the nonprofit executive was killed on the 300 block of north holly street back on february 23rd. a $20,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction. trenton police say a suspected drunk driver caused a string of damage last night. the impact sent an axle flying into a trenton police car that happened to be in the area at the time. the officer was hospitalized for minor injuries and the driver is under arrest for allegedly driving while under the influence. you a proposed natural gas pipeline in new jersey is facing a new challenge tonight. the environmental group the sierra club is appealing the pinelands commissions approval of the pipeline saying it doesn't primarily benefit people living there. the pipeline will that carry

>> we'll be getting used to those closures today and good afternoon officer a very closeup shot in the northbound lanes just north of cottman avenue where there was an accident since last we spoke. you can see it here. maybe you can see it. taking out the left lane. got emergency crews on the scene so as you come north of cottman in the old work zone it is extra heavy this afternoon with this new crash. also an accident on the southbound side in delco by ridley park. that's still partially blocking the on-ramp so a little extra slow there as you head toward the blue route. watching a crash at city avenue at lancaster avenue by saint charles borromeo cemetery. traffic light troubles in olde city at seventh and local vine giving us confusion there this afternoon but luckily we're recovering on the westbound schuylkill still slow but better than it was when we had that vehicle fire earlier in the curve and our crash on the blue route, 476 southbound past the route one media bypass is long gone but still some slow speeds as you come down from the schuylkill and head into delaware county toward 95 this afternoon. also have a nasty crash in

with ducis rodgers meteorologist cecily tynan and jim gardner. >> ♪♪ >> monday night. jim's off. i'm rick williams and the big story on "action news" is developing from san bernadino california. a deadly shooting inside of an elementary school there. >> this is an absolutely tragic event. our hearts are broken. >> officials are calling it a murder-suicide. they say a man shot and killed a teacher in her classroom and then killed himself. two children caught in the gunfire were critically wounded. >> the children we do not believe were targeted. we believe the two children were the unfortunate recipients of injuries by being in proximity to the female at the time of the incident. >> students were quickly evacuated from north park elementary following the shooting. they were bussed to other schools where they were reunited with their parents. once again the situation appeared to be a murder-suicide. two adults are dead, two children are being treated for
