action district where isis has been operating close to the pakistan border. the bomb meshes about -- measures about 30 feet long, so big that it's dropped from an air force 130 cargo plane. specific presidential authority is not needed to use the bomb. and plans have been apparently been in the offing going back to the obama administration. damage estimates are still going on, but this we know. the moab is 11 tons of explosives and they dropped it today for the first time. "world news tonight with david n today's bombing in afghanistan. that is next at 6:30 here on "action news" and channel 6. a 17-year-old delaware girl has been found guilty of criminal negligent homicide in the death of amy joyner-francis. two other girls were -- were charged with misdemeanor conspiracy charges. "action news" reporter john rawlins is live outside new castle county court. john, what are the detail?

>> reporter: jim, this was an incident back in 2016, april of 2016, that occurred in a girls' bathroom at a local high school. a student died. the judge ruled today that what happened was not a fight. this was not two students squaring off but a one-sided attack. now, the attorney for the girl that was found delinquent of homicide said it was out of character for her. >> she a good child. this was the first fight that she's ever gotten into in her life. >> reporter: john deckers is talking about his now 17-year-old client found delinquent in the death of amy y joyner-francis at howard high school in wilmington last year. joyner-francis had an undiagnosed heart condition. it was ruled she died from stress after being beaten by the 17-year-old who attacked her. deckers says his client comes from a solid home but -- >> anybody who knows children understands that sometimes teens are pressured into engaging in activity which is contrary to what mother and father teach every day.

>> reporter: two other girls had been charged with conspiracy. one was found delinquent. the other acquit. the judge said she did not participate in the assault. a spokesperson for the victim's family and the prosecutor on those judged delinquent. >> the message that's being sent is there are consequences for your actions. >> the consequences of one's actions must be something that's considered, and kids as much as adults should be thinking about that. >> reporter: what are the consequences? have the primary attacker been convicted as an assault, she would face up to eight years it prison. family court is different. >> my hope is that we guide the youth back on track to lead the law-abiding life they were meant to lead, to have the education they were meant to have, and to be able to become productive adults. >> reporter: a widener law professor says the court will have latitude in finding a sentence from community service to anger management and other counseling. the individuals could go to a facility or stay in their homes. the goal -- rehabilitation. well, the court will have about five weeks to do an

investigation and put together a proper sentence for the two that were found delinquent today. the sentence has been set for may 23rd. live in wilmington, john rawlins, "channel 6 action news." jim? >> thank you, john. in reading, berks county, authorities are investigating the death of this man -- kenneth johnson, age 25. police tased him yesterday while trying to arrest him, and now they're waiting for autopsy results. "action news" reporter gray hall is live in reading tonight with the latest on this. gray? >> reporter: well, jim, i can tell you that autopsy is scheduled for 8:00 tonight and as investigators work to piece this case together, a mother is coming to grips that her son is gone. dramatic video obtained by "action news" shows reading police officers trying to save a man using cpr. we've learned the victim is 25-year-old kenneth johnson. he died after an altercation with police where they say they were forced to use their taser.

>> he has a daughter. i don't know what she's going to do without her father. >> reporter: his mother is trying to make sense of it all. she got the heartbreaking call wednesday on her way home from work. she now has the unnerving job of telling other family members about the tragic news. >> i had to explain to them that kenny's not here. kenny won't be coming to barbecues. kenny won't come to birthdays. so that's something i had to explain to them. >> reporter: investigators say that johnson was in a dispute with his girlfriend. officers say it started around 1:50 pence when they responded to two 911 calls about a domestic situation along the 700 block of pear street. the calls reported a woman was being beaten and screaming that someone was trying to kill her. when they arrived to the scene, police say the victim had visible bruises on her face and leg. police say they spotted johnson in an alley and attempted to arrest him, but they say he did not comply and resisted. investigators say there was a struggle between the officer and johnson. at some point, they say the officer fired his taser.

>> this is a taser n this situation is probably normal protocol. but we're -- it's early on in the investigation. >> reporter: as authorities work to complete this investigation, a heartbroken mother is waiting for answers and wondering what life will be like without her son. >> it's my first born, my only son, my only biological son. i mean, he was my world. >> reporter: back out live, we can tell you that scene unfolded in this alley right here mind me. we are in the early stages of this investigation. we can tell you that reading police officers do not have body cameras, but the officer that fired that taser has been placed on administrative leave. live tonight in reading, gray hall, "channel 6 action news." jim? >> thank you, gray. in philadelphia an assisted living facility in east oak lane is boarded up tonight after an early morning crash took out a corner of the building. two cars collided on a 1300 block of west cheltenham avenue

at 2:30 this morning. the accident cause one car to slam into the home. one staff member suffered non-life-threatening injuries. the drivers were treated at the scene. we are quickly approaching the nfl draft in philadelphia, and while the eagles are hoping for a bevy of good draft choices, local officials are also hoping for an economic bonanza for the city. "action news" reporter vernon odom has the story. >> reporter: a pan ran im-- rano ramic look -- the trees will be in full bloom when the nfl draft kicks off here in two weeks when the barons of pro football harvest their crop of rookies. >> the philadelphia eagles select carson wentz. >> reporter: that looks like a great selection. the windy city saw an $80 million impact on the local economy. philadelphia expects that much and perhaps more when 100,000 fans come in from out of town. >> the money is basically going to flow into our hotels.

it's going to flow into our restaurants, our bars, shopping. people are going to take part in the cultural attractions on the parkway. they're all going to be open. >> reporter: this beer distributor at 19th and callowhill, a few box from the parkway says, he'll stay open till dawn's early light if called upon. >> the unofficial beer distributor of the nfl draft. >> reporter: 2017. >> 2017. >> reporter: despite all the their leading and hype, hotels are not sold out yet. the general manager of the logan hotel. >> there's not a huge amount left, but there are certainly rooms still available. so in my hotel, probably in many others. >> reporter: as it stands tonight, hospitality experts say the bookings in the philadelphia area for the nfl draft are now above 75% but they add that still leaves plenty of room at local hotels and annsbury for those late -- inns for those late-deciding devotees of pro football. vernon odom, "channel 6 action news," center city.

>> reporter: the museum of the american revolution opened to the public april 19th at third and chestnut in old city. and we got the full tour ahead of time. the museum tells the story of the founding of our nation, a story that played out right here in philadelphia. >> if you think of the revolution as a tapestry, you know, all the yarns crossite here in this neighborhood. >> reporter: the displays ask questions of the visitors such as, how did regular citizens become revolutionaries? those questions are answered with artifacts, artwork, life-size depictions, and interactive exhibits. >> they will see 16,000 square feet of core exhibition objects, witness objects from the american revolution. they can stand under a re-creation of the boston liberty tree. they can stand in the middle of the battle of brandywine. >> reporter: one showpiece general george washington's actual tent on display for the first time since the mid-1990s. travel blogger alan barkas said the story told here is still

they held a walkout ceremony today in wilmington foreretiring police chief bobby cummings. cummings was saluted by his officers and escorted by his family and honored for his service. cummings held the force three years. he says he plans to take the summer off and then he'll decide what to do next. so 6abc is teaming up with

yesterday he got some good news, and today we hear from ben simmons. >> he cannot wait to finally suit up with joel embiid, and of course in front of the sixers fans. ben simmons may splised the entire season but the sixers' number one overall pick says he still grew as a player. but what about as a person? is he really seven feet tall now? jamie apody has more. >> whether ben simmons is actually taller than he was when the sixers drafted him remains to be seen.

but we can say he has grown figuratively even after a season in which he never actually suited up. >> a lot of ups and downs but i learned a lot and just being around the guys and learning the system. and it gave me a great opportunity to learn the game. >> simmons confirmed he has been cleared for basketball activities and said he'll resume his own workout tuesday. whether he'll play the summer league depends on how he's feeling. of course, this was not the rookie season he had envisioned. >> i'm very frustrated, but it happens. so i have to accept it and move forward. >> so now he'll prepare to be the sixers' point guard of the future. and if things do come together? >> i think we can do big things. i don't want to say anything too specific, but i'm excited to may with these guys. i think we can do some damage. >> if he can stay healthy and live up to his potential, who knows? maybe we could be talking about ben simmons rookie of the year next season. but this season, who will it be? >> somebody from sixers for sure.

surface because the atmosphere is fairly dry. so we'll show you the picture outside. the action cam was outside earlier today. look it up there in chinatown, we have a bright blue sky overhead and really seasonable conditions across the reach. with -- region with highs in the upper 60s. saturday, we've got a warm front that's moving on through. so as it comes through over the weekend, it's going to be mostly cloudy. temperatures for the most part by saturday afternoon will be in the middle and upper 60s. and that warm front makes way for an easter sizzle on sunday. sunrise services, no jackets needed, a temperature of 63. 77, midday and a june feel more like summer as we get into sunday afternoon. temperatures right now are still in the 60s. and 62 in reading. 60 in allentown. the exception there, the poconos, the 49. 63 in trenton. and millville coming in at 66 down in dover and it's 65. here's satellite 6 along with action radar. we've got a partly cloudy sky across the region.

again we're tracking this disturbance. as it comes to the greats like, it really falls apart. so we just have a fair amount of cloud cover overhead for the rest of tonight. in fact, over the next 12 hours, just a few patchy clouds. otherwise, it's seasonable. 42. and lancaster 46 and philadelphia 45 degrees and cape may, toms river falls down to just 40. for good friday tomorrow, 8:00 in the morning, bright and sunny. a temperature of 50 degrees. 57 at 11:00 a.m. 2:00 tomorrow afternoon. we are alieady in the lower 60s. the upper 60s by 5:00 tomorrow evening. it's bright sunny with a nice mixture of sun and clouds. and high temperature tomorrow in at 67. fast forward into the start of our holiday weekend. on saturday, high pressure moves farther farther to the east so we're tracking that warm front. the high on saturday, in at 68. clouds and sun as that front swings on through an isolated shower is possible. as we get into easter sunday,

however, as that warm front lifts northward, have that nice southwesterly wind. sunshine, high clouds. temperatures a good 21 degrees above average with a high temperature for sunday coming in at 85 degrees. here's the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. for friday, partly sunny. we are dry, a high of 67. philadelphia union will be at home by then. on saturday, clouds and sun, high temperature 68 degrees. as that warm front comes on through, it's summerlike for easter with a high temperature up to 85 degrees. so the easter egg hunt should be okay. but then late sunday, there could be a spotty shower, a thunderstorm overhead. on monday, it's beautiful, up to 74 for a high. tuesday, sunny and seasonable, and it's 65. on wednesday, a couple showers are possible. and a seasonable day otherwise, a high of 65 or 63. 71 with limited sunshine as we get into thursday, jim. so a nice end to our weekend. >> thank you, melissa. finally tonight, students at the gertrude c. fullwell

elementary school in mt. holly spent this beautiful day outdoors and all for a great cause. the students took part in a walk around their campus to raise awareness and raise money for juvenile diabetes research. last year this event raised more than $2,000. and they certainly want to match that or surpass this today. abc's "world news tonight with david muir" next on channel 6.
