apparently he was driving northbound on the boulevard, he was going to overtake a slower moving traffic. he passed to the right apparently not realizing or not seeing that the tractor-trailer was parked in the right lane. the beige ford expedition hit the rear of the tractor-trailer with such force a portion of the suv's windshield and sheet metal remain embedded in the rear corner of the trailer. two female passengers were cut out of the ford and then pronounced dead by arriving medics. the driver survived and is at einstein hopefully he'll be able to help investigators sort out what happened. >> we're canvassing the area for witnesses and or any type of video that we may be able to find. >> reporter: the tractor-trailer was legally parked in the outer lane of the roadway that driver toledos he had been taking a federally required rest break and was at a nearby hotel at the time of the crash. as police secured purses and other personal items out of the suv, neighbors told us they were not surprised by the deadly crash.

they indicated there is a balanced bad mix along this part of the boulevard. outer lane parking is permitted most times and cars are going fast. >> and it's always because of that. because they allow cars to park on the boulevard why? i don't understand that. >> reporter: add to that while the speed limit is 40 people drive fast. >> nobody goes 40. everybody goes 55, 60. >> there is a speed limit then don't believe in the speed limit. everybody's just like, you know, it's a racetrack. >> reporter: it's not clear exactly what role speed played in this particular incident although the vehicle was said to be overtaking slower traffic when it passed to the right. the police did release within the last hour the names of the two women who were killed. one is 40-year-old mars had. ay flowers from north philadelphia. she's the wife of the driver. the other system 25-year-old asia nicole holland aged 25 as we say she is from southwest philadelphia.

she was a.m. family friend. live in feltonville, john rawlins channel6 "action news." >> all right, john, thank you. in other news two airmen based in dover are accused of sexually abusing an under aged girl on the air force base. 25-year-old airmen first class dalion washington and akeem beers have been charged. prosecutors say they trafficked a 15-year-old girl for $20 last summer is. washington then allegedly took her to his room at the base where she stayed for several months. investigators say beaser helped watch over her and both had sex with her. the active duty men were arrested last march. dover air force base says fully cooperating with the investigations. >> a run away hoarse stopped traffic in philadelphia today. police spent the morning trying corral the animal after it escaped from a stable in strawberry mathis shows the horse running through the city. big mama escaped from the

fletcher street urban riding club. one of the riders said he opened the stable door and the horse just took off. he jumped on his bike and tried to chase big ma ma down but couldn't catch up with her. police and officers there essentially corralled big mama in port richmond. i mean, this looked more like a rodeo. >> she come out every day. she just feeling a little -- i guess she got some good sleep last night. she feeling a little good this morning . >> [laughter] >> big momma has big energy. more than an hour and a half after this all started the excitement was over. we'll have much more or on big momma's adventures coming up on "action news" at 5:00. >> sounds like a movie, big momma's adventures with martin lawrence. >> let's go to meteorologist adam joseph and a nice clear start to the holiday weekend. >> yeah, it is a perfect friday as well. a lot of sunshine today, some high clouds around and temperatures just a little bit above normal. as we take a look at those

numbers 67 philadelphia allentown wilmington, 66 in dover. even 65 in millville but right along the shore where you get that that wind out of the east-northeast so temperatures there are stuck in the 50's. but as we look at satellite and radar, there's a boundary to our south and west in the form of a warm front north of charleston, west virginia with a healthy amount of cloud cover that will be push, to the north and east. as we get into the first part of the weekend. so, for your saturday variable clouds. you'll seal that sun really trying to fight the clouds through much of the day. the high temperature of 66 degrees. that will top off in the earl to middle part of the afternoon and by 8 o'clock in the evening, even still at 64. and as we look at that rest of the holiday weekend forecast, i'm going to call it exceptional around here on easter sunday and it stays beautiful even beyond easter and there is some rain late in that seven-day forecast. if you're an allergy sufferer you're saying we need some rain. we'll get a little bit of it. i'll have all the details on just how warm we're thinking

it's getting on easter alicia in that full accuweather forecast. >> adam thank you. we are learning more details about the mother of all bombs that the united states dropped on isis in afghanistan. the department of defense released this black and white video showing the bomb hitting its target of underground tunnels. look at that video for you. afghan leaders meanwhile say it killed 36 isis fighters. the bomb system the largest nonnuclear weapon our country has ever used in that combat. as pam republican congressman pat meehan explains the launch was meant ton send a very clear message to the terrorist group. >> this wall a response to that go to a place which has become somewhat of a safe haven for them where they're down into the tunnels to let them know there's a cost for the continuing ied attacks and things that they are doing. >> pentagon fishes say the u.s. commander in afghanistan who ordered the bombs launched did not need approval from president donald trump. general john nicholson already

had authority to carry out this mission. >> well, governor wolf reiterating his call for philadelphia district attorney seth williams to step down. williams is charged with 23 federal counts including bribery and corruption. today the governor issued a statement saying this. it is clear that williams' focus should be on his defense and it is beyond time for him to step down immediately. williams cop go to trial by the end of may. >> with easter weekend upon us, it's crunch time to get ready for family celebration. some flowers to candy and a traditional dinner spread local retailers have been very busy as well. visited. as people prepare for the holiday weekend this is not the only place you can find flowers for mom or grandmom this weekend. that's the easter bunny waving to drivers outside the union fire company and rescue squad on route 29. the annual spring flower sale is that under way and the firehouse is filled with all kinds of colorful flowers selling for anywhere from five dollars to $40. it's their biggest fundraiser of the year. >> i'm a life member of this fire company anyway, so i do it for the -- because it helps the fire company and helps the community. >> normally around lunchtime is our busiest time. saturday is always really busy. last year was our first year selling out on saturday so we were all able to be home for easter. >> reporter: shoppers are out working their lists picking up ham and all the other goodies that make up a holiday dinner. betty and ed stout are hosting 29 people. you have to do the cooking for that many people. >> no, everybody brings things. i just have to provide the

place and the plates and some of the food. >> but we get what everybody likes so that there's never many leftovers. >> reporter: virginia adams plans to ditch the oven and cook on the grille. >> grilling because the weather is supposed to be so nice so we'll be out there. >> reporter: no ham, no lamb. >> no ham, no lamb, just outdoor cooking. >> reporter: what are the next 24 hours going to be like. >> i craft today, i craft tomorrow. sunday everything is ready to go. >> reporter: at the trenton farmers market folks were be lined up several deep in front of the meat counter. the biggest seller is the kielbasa. >> it's a package of kielbasa rye bread and pierogies. >> reporter: two easters come egg together this year. we have orthodox and the american so that's what makes it more -- a little bit like this. crazy. >> yes. >> reporter: crazy for sure. now, the farmers market is

towards center city. it's gone now but check out the jam we have coming out of the toll plaza in camden. up and over on the bridge in toward eighth and vine coming into philadelphia, stay up on the betsy ross or down on the walt whitman. walt whitman into new jersey is very busy because of an earlier crash on 42 southbound. at the ben franklin 5 miles an hour. lots of speeds in the teens on the schuylkill and on 95 it's even worse, just 9 miles per hour northbound because of an accident in the northbound lanes between cottman and if academy. that crash taking out the two left lanes. this actually is an accident, though, in delaware county that we're watching. northbound side of 95 right by the exit for 452. you can see the emergency crews on the scene and even though it's off to the side, it's causing northbound slowing and a southbound gaper delay. jammed in both directions on 95 in delaware county. on 95 in delaware, earlier crash southbound past 202 has cleared but there is one on 202 itself. grab the ipad do the

[laughter] >> i can never do it. all right. >> i'll just worry about it next week. >> okay. >> okay. >> time for accuweather. >> adam went to a chocolate factory yesterday. >> i think i ate about 3,000 calories yesterday and i don't care. as we look at sky6 live the commodore barry bridge it is beautiful out there this good friday, lots of sunshine a few high clouds and temperatures running a little bit above average. 67 degrees the temperature right now, the dewpoint at 33. we got some dry air in place. east-southeast wind at 5 miles per hour p the ocean temperature just 51 degrees. satellite and radar again a few high clouds here but you can see a system between omaha saint louis chicago, nothing major. there's no severe weather or heavy rain across the country right now so it's pretty quiet as we head into easter weekend. this is a warm front and that will be drifting through here as we get into the first part of the weekend.

but for tonight on the town here on a friday night, 64 degrees at 7 o'clock. 61 at 8 o'clock and then dropping into the 50's 9 o'clock and beyond and once we wake up tomorrow morning, the low in philadelphia 47 degrees under a mainly clear sky but then those clouds are going to quickly race back in. you can see with that warm front, this is saturday at 1 o'clock in the afternoon, those clouds on the heavy side. the clouds again tomorrow really going fight that sunshine. despite that we'll see a lack of sun at times ton saturday. temperatures will still be fairly nice. 65 in allentown, 66 philadelphia, 64 millville but if you'll be at the shore for the east holiday weekend bring a jacket or a sweatshirt because down there only in the 50's. maybe a stray shower north and west of philadelphia up towards the lehigh valley. then as we get into easter sunday, now easter it varies big time weather-wise because it can fall anywhere between march and april but over the last 20 years we did a little bit of homework, the warmest was in 2011 on april 24th at

84 degrees. the coldest easter was 43 degrees and that was on april 8th of 2007. and the forecast high this go-round 85 degrees, so this could be the warmest easter in more than 20 years. a mild start for sunrise services at 61. 78 at lunchtime and by 4 o'clock, that summer feel, a june 85 degrees. that four day at 4:00 forecast tomorrow 66, again a lot of clouds kind of popping some sun here and there. that summer warmth for easter at 85 degrees, could be an isolated shower or downpour especially north and west late in the evening hours but the majority of the day is dry. plenty of sun, pleasant monday, 74 and still beautiful sunny and seasonal 67 on your tuesday and a little rain in that seven day as we get into the late next week in the next half hour. >> you called it egg-ceptional

>> these juniors and seniors prosecutor woodrow wilson high school are headed to france thanks to a genros -- generous crowdfunding campaign. [speaking foreign language] >> i think they're saying we're going to paris. they raised about $45,000 to make this all possible. french teacher paula siard was so passionate about taking her lessons beyond the classroom she set up a go fund me page then reached their goal, again 45 grand. we first brought you their story in february and the students say their dream to travel abroad would not be possible without the help of 6abc for telling the story and the generosity of those who donated. the teacher says they're thrilled at the opportunity to give these young people a different perspective of the world a chance to see there's more to life than what's around them. for many it's the trip of a lifetime. >> leaving the country, like this is my first time. it's a big experience and it's

decades of sexual abuse. >> but we begin in philadelphia's hunting park section where police have stepped up their patrols and you're looking at the reason why. cell phone video shows a 16-year-old girl being beaten, brutally by a random group of girls steps away from a children's carnival and police fear their assailants may strike again without warning. vernon odom is live at the scene of the assault with details. good evening, alicia. families have already started lining up here for the two-dollar price of admission for admittance to this traveling neighborhood carnival here. it's very popular. the carnival owners are horrified by the attack of two of their customers this week after they left the grounds but they are adding security nevertheless. video of this brutal attack on a pair of 16-year-olds out on their first date has gone viral. police are screening this one

and others over and over again hoping to identify and arrest the roughly one dozen teens in the mob that randomly attacked miguel fernandez and jayla santana. both were injured. she sus taken a concussion. they were leaving tuesday night when they were jumped by females with males joining in. they were a few paces from the 26th police district. >> they were hitting me pulling my hair punching stomping on me. it was boys and girls hitting me. >> i was getting stomped and the videos that are uploaded that are everywhere around instagram and everything and facebook, you see that i get up and i keep running to her trying to get everybody off of her rather than myself but ironically she still ends up getting hurt more. >> reporter: since this attack there have been social media boast that is there are girl gangs threatening similar violence this weekend. police have dramatically increased patrolling inside and outside the carnival. >> it alarmed us very

grateful. we try to provide a wholesome economical family entertainment for people. >> reporter: the owner of the carnival says he's increased his security detail after bringing this portable amusement park here without any incidents. >> we've always had security. we've always worked with the local police and brought police in on the busier days. >> reporter: rick, this will be a busy friday night here. the estimate of the crowd on the night of the attack was 1500 to 2,000. hopes are there won't be any more of those kind of attacks and violence here. i'm vernon odom channel6 "action news," live in hunting park. >> all right, vernon, thank you. in other news an accident backed up traffic on the ben franklin bridge this afternoon. the crash happened in the westbound lanes of the bridge on the philadelphia side just before 3 o'clock. one person was taken to the hospital. they're expected to be okay. officials say drivers should expect some residual delays while they investigate the accident. the fbi joining burlington

county police to investigate the double murder of a mother and her six-year-old son. 38-year-old and her son were found stabbed to death at their home in the fox meadow apartments back in march. her husband reportedly made the gruesome discovery after returning to maple shade after a.m. work related gathering. both husband and wife ooh immigrated from india to work at an information technology company. at last check, neither police nor federal agents have a suspect or a motive. >> police in bucks county are searching for a group of men accused of going on a vandalism spree overnight. this is video from outside one of the newtown township businesses. you can see two of the men grab a wooden bench and try to throw it over a fence on sycamore street but the heavy seat bounces back and hits one of them. police believe the group is responsible for damaging several stores in the area. they're now asking anyone with information or more video and information about the vandals to come forward.

abuse. they hired an investigator to looked into the allegations of 24 students. according to that newly released report, 12 adults affiliated with the school engaged in sexual misconduct over a 47 year period. the abuse allegedly ranged from inappropriate touching to rape. and it all happened between 63 and 2010. the headmaster and chair of the board of trustees released a statement apologizing on behalf of the school. >> well, a huge fire at one of the most luxurious hotels in las vegas shut down part of the strip overnight. the blaze at the bellagio sparked after 10:30 last evening. the flames spread from a shopping area to the hotel's roof. the strip closed to traffic for about 30 minutes to keep tourists safe as flaming debris rained down. 75 firefighters were needed to get the fire under control. though the roof was seriously damaged no one was hurt fortunately.
