the crash involving a fedex truck and several cars snarls traffic on the atlantic city expressway. and the doors are opened on a brand new school. but this noon, breaking news from eerie, pennsylvania, police confirm that wanted facebook killer steve stevens shot and killed himself in that city. during a police pursuit. they spotted him in the ford fusion he was driving since he shot and killed an elderly man on sunday and posted the murder on facebook. police have scheduled a news conference in the next few minuteses. to other news now philadelphia's fire commissioner releasing a scathing report. lieutenant joyce craig died fighting a blaze in 2014. it details the failures of the fire department that led to her

"action news" reporter, jeanette reyes got reaction from the fire commissioner and is live now with the story. >> reporter: well, this press conference wrapped up minutes ago the fire commissioner saying there is nothing in this scathing report that he disagrees with, many of the urgent and necessary changes are made and implements all the recommendations will take years. the fire that killed lieutenant fire veteran joyce craig came as a rude awakening that changes needed to be made area wide. and adam teal stood by staff say that training and resources are lacking. in a budget meeting set for later this afternoon the commissioner says that several things are requested like funding for four new training positions and four additional

firefighters to increase release allowing for more on duty train. >> there is a lot to do here. a lot of recommendations we embrace the recommendations and we'll do a lot of work. we'll have working groups, we already do. to look at how we need to create and develop resource programs and projects and make all the changes that are called for. >> earlier today mayor jim kenney spoke of the policies he did away with like brown outs and forced transfers but a lot more work needed to be done. >> we had equipment as old as 1992, 1993 and that is unconscionable. and we'll catch up because we are the best fire department in the country. >> really all of this comes down to resources and money that budget hearing is set for later on this afternoon. they'll find out if it gets approved sometime in june and

that will make a significant difference in the years moving forward. as for the craig family, the report confirms what they believe all along and only strengthen their case, the lawsuit against the company that produced the faulty equipment. >> thank you. the state of of delaware and several former state officials are facing a lawsuit in light of february's inmate uprising at a prison in smyrna, during that uprising correctional officers were taken hostage, today the floyd family and the workers taken hostage blame the state for ignoring security and staffing problems. our vernon odom will have more on the federal lawsuit coming up at 12:30. jury selection has started in the case of a south jersey father accused of killing his 3-year-old son. david creato jr. is accused of killing his son in june of 2015.

they said he killed the boy because he was getting in the way of the father's relationship with his girlfriend. he call police initially and said his son was missing. >> both sides rested in the case of erick frein. john rawlins is live at the courthouse in milford pike county with a recap of the trial so far. >> reporter: late monday the jury heard from alex douglas a one time marathoner that walked now with a limp. a rifle shot shattered his hip and ripped through his lower body. he testified he was outside coming to work and hearing a loud bang followed by a scream coming from the front of the barracks and approached and saw someone down and unholdered the side arm and recognized corporal byron dickson who was wounded.

jersey. chopper 6 hd was over haddonfield road and a patient was in the ambulance at the time of the collision. the patient was moved to normal ambulance and no other injuries were reported. a fedex truck crash nood the woods along the atlantic city expression way this morning. chopper 6 hd was over the wreckage and you can see the long backup in the eastbound lanes in winslow township. several people were hurt and expected to recover. traffic was able to see by. >> developing this noon, police are looking for two masked teenage thieves, they got away with an iphone and a house here in the 3800 block of violet drive. it happened at 9:45 this morning, everyone in the home was physically unharmed. police want your help tracking down the minivan driver that crash nood a motorcycle and took off. it happened at 59th and walnut this morning.

two people were on the motorcycle. a man and woman, officials tell "action news" that the woman is in critical condition and the woman is stable and expected to be okay. the minivan driver ran off on foot. they have impounded the van. the nfl draft in philadelphia starts in nine days but starting at midnight part of the ben franklin parkway will be off limits. from eakins oval to 20th street. and the parkway shuts down completely next week well have listed all of the road closures related to the draft at 6abc.com. a beautiful spring day with bright sky as above. sky 6 hd looking live at the zoo balloon just behind the philadelphia art museum. temperatures are cooler but the sun is shining. meteorologist, david murphy, is enjoying the conditions outdoors on the terrace. >> a great day for a ride for

the 6 abc zoo balloon and hardly a cloud insight. and high pressure is in control. and looking at satellite there were clouds sweeping through early in the predawn hours and they swept down to the south and off the coast in a hurry just as accuweather said and now sunshine the rest of the day with a little pop-up high cloud cover here or there. 64 in philadelphia, and the numbers greatly improved from this morning when we started out down around 50 degrees. 61 in allentown and 61 in trenton and 63 in wilmington. the winds are not all that strong in most cases but we expect the winds to pick up into the double digits later on and a nice day overall. a high of 68 and we'll hit that at 4:00 and 6:00 down to 64. look at how the numbers tumble by 10:00 barely in the 50s and tonight chillier down into the mid-40s. there are a couple of opportunities for rain coming up

partners, the federal, state, county, local and other state law enforcement agencies that helped in this regard. and i want to emphasize the fact this particular incident received a lot of attention and rightfully so, because it was a loss of innocence. an innocent victim. we, however, have many many homicides not only in cleveland but throughout this nation. and ultimately i believe one of the things this has taught us is that we cannot resolve this underlying issues of violence, particularly gun violence if we do not function and operate and have the same compassion and commitment that we have shown here as a community and finally, i want to thank you the media, you were helpful to us in keeping things straight.

keeping the facts straight and reporting the stories in a way that helped united states be able to do our job. so chief -- >> thanks mayor. i want to officially announce that the search for steve stevens has ended. at improvemently a little bit after 11:00 today pennsylvania state police officers received a tip that the vehicle that we were looking for the white ford fusion was in an mcdonald's parking lot. near eerie, pa. those officers responded, the vehicle fled from that area and a short pursuit in which the vehicle was stopped. as the officers approached the vehicle steve stevens took his own life. we are grateful to the people that gave this tip to the pennsylvania state police, we are grateful that this has

7 miles per hour. and low 60s in allentown unreading and 60 in trenton and 58 in cape may. satellite shows you the morning cloud cover disappearing to the south and we expect lots of sunshine the rest of the way. and you can get a pop-up seria cloud this afternoon. down the shore 60 mostly sunny and cooler and the occasion temperatures creeping up into the low 50s in spots. and 68 degrees is the high in philadelphia. lots of sun and a bit cooler than yesterday but still a few degrees above average and there you see the winds not that strong. a light breeze. and tonight the clouds increase and 44 is the overnight low, that means tomorrow morning it will be cooler than this morning. and tomorrow overall is cooler with more clouds building in after morning sunshine and high of 61 at the shore and cooler to the 50 degree mark in spots.
