>> well, the shooting happened in the parking lot of saint helena's church. we'll have a live report coming up tonight on "action news." i'm brian taff, with monica malpass and sharrie is off today. we are following the latest on an attack of a 25-year-old man on a philadelphia street in broad daylight. police are hoping to identify three suspects seen on surveillance video. >> it clearly shows the suspects faces, three men in all went up to a man and started punching and kicking him and once he was unk. they took the man's phone, wallet and cash. and gray hall joins us live at the scene where it hatched at b and tioga streets. >> reporter: monica and brian this played out behind me no other way to describe this, this was a horrible and brutal attack and right now police are working aggressively to track down the suspects. >> an all out attack in broad

daylight on the b and tioga streets in philadelphia was caught on camera. police are working to find the three men seen here viciously beating the 25-year-old victim. >> it's hard to see something of that level of brutality and what appears to be that random looking and in that broad daylight conditions, it gets a little startling. >> the crime happened this past saturday at 12:30 as the victim was leaving a restaurant, you see the group in question walking and looking in windows like they were looking for someone. the victim was there to get a job application and they were too afraid to talk on camera but couldn't believe what happened as the man left the restaurant. >> no sooner he turned to the left he is confronted by three males one hits him in the face so hard he falls to the ground and one repeatedly kicks him and punches him while removing items from him. >> at tacker his no mercy and

repeatedly punched and kicked the helpless man. the brutal beat down gets worse and the suspects knock him unconscious and then take the victim's money, wallet and cell phone and neighbors are thankful that the cameras were recording and captured pretty good images and they hope someone will recognize him and report it. >> they see someone and want to attack or was that their plan that day. that is another reason why we want to get them in. what transpired was brutal. >> reporter: back out live, you saw the video indeed it was brutal. police are not sure if the victim knew the attackers and a motive is not clear and police had to drive the victim to the hospital and since treated and released and again if you have information contact police, live in kensington gray hall, channel

6 "action news." >> gray, thank you. the jury is now selected and opening statements are set to begin in the trial of the camden county father accused of killing his 3-year-old son. his son brendon was found in a wooded area in october of 2015. prosecutors say that creato killed him because he was getting in the way of his relationship with his teenage girlfriend. he pled not guilty to murder and child endangerment. opening statements are set to get underway tomorrow. >> and a home in south jersey is a pile of rubble after a fire destroyed it overnight and flames ripped through the home in pennsauken and two families lost everything and fortunately they all got out safely. >> i never thought this would happen to me. >> juliana sharpos was visibly distraught as she saw her childhood home go up into flames in the night sky.

>> my brother has nothing and my mom has nothing. >> she was baby sitting her brothers at her father's house in philadelphia and he got the panicked call from her mother. >> she called me and said my house is burning down and right away i knew they was serious and she was crying hysterically. she rushed home to find the neighborhood lit up in flamed as the fire tore through her home. >> just can't believe it. >> the camden county fire department says that the blaze broke out at 2:30 wednesday morning. several engines blaired their sirens as they descending on the quiet neighborhood. >> my husband said it was something big and i operated the door and it was shooting up into the air. it was really bad. >> by the time firefighter as rived. the flames were burning through the upper floors of the two family home and embers were flying to nearby homes and rails and new jersey transit briefly interrupted early morning light

rail service. >> it's pretty much the top floor so everybody they have is gone. >> the two families live inside were able to evacuate safely and one resident says it's thanks to his dogs that woke them up in time. >> we got water and coats and blankets and all the neighbors up there were helping them. i feel so bad. >> a firefighter was briefly trapped in the upper floors and he managed to evacuate in time and another injured his ankle. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. reporting in pennsauken, channel 6 "action news." a woman remains in critical condition after reportedly being hit by a police cruiser in the kensington section of philadelphia. officers were chasing a man in the park when they barked up into the woman. they deny that the police officers were pursuing anyone. vernon odom is live with more.

breaking news that led this newscast today out of claymont delaware where police shot and killed a suspect a short time ago. christie alet oh is live at the scene with an update. >> reporter: hey there. newcastle county police were trying to stop a suspect in a separate investigation along market street in wilmington that ended here in penny hill. this is an active scene where wilmington newcastle county and delaware state police on site. police responded to reports of shots fired at 24th and market in wilmington and newcastle police were trying to stop someone in the area and stopped by police in the parking lot of saint helena's church. and the suspect reportedly got out of his car and fled on foot and police chased him around the

and 57 in reading and 57 in trenton, so philadelphia the lucky spot right now that is the only location at 60 degrees. and a big change from 24 hours ago, temperatures have tumbled back 5 and 10 degrees from where they were this time yesterday and due to the stronger wind off the atlantic. and satellite and radar a hit of sun during the mid to late morning hours. clouds moved in and a few rain showers far to the north and a boundary that is draped by here late tonight and early tomorrow morning. than could trigger a quick little scattered shower or two or sprinkle overnight tonight and just a cloudy night with temperatures falling back to 50 in allentown and 53 in millville. and the temperatures are not going to lower that much more than where they are right now. as we look at the day planner here for thursday, a couple of showers scattered around the region, very early tomorrow morning.

and then breaks of sun developing in the afternoon as the front swings to the north and that will allow temperatures to jump to 75 degrees or so tomorrow afternoon. we are looking at a 20 degree difference here tomorrow. in some locations. future tracker 6 at 6:00 in the morning, a few showers in the morning and that moves away and we see the breaks of sun at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. as we get into tomorrow night the front starts to sneak in back from the north and could trigger a downpour late thursday night into early friday morning and the four day at 4:00 forecast tomorrow the sunny breaks will develop in the afternoon and much warmer of 75. could be a morning round of a downpour or thunderstorm, friday and then breaking sun in the afternoon very mild at 80 degrees. and then that system move as way saturday, sun giving way to clouds in the afternoon of 76 and then a raw and rainy sunday a high of of just 53 degrees.

it is 4:30 and "action news" continues with breaking news from newcastle county, delaware. where police shot and killed the suspect this afternoon and officers were trying to stop the suspect who was under investigation and took off crashing at philadelphia pike and washington street extension and police chased him into the parking lot of the saint helena's church and some kind of confrontation occurred. >> everything happened you know, so fast. and you foe, it's at a church and this is a good neighborhood and family oriented. >> we are still waiting to hear why police were pursuing the suspect in the first place. turning now to the death of nfl star, aaron hernandez, the 27-year-old athlete took his own life in prison this morning the same day his former team visited the white house to celebrate their victory. >> guilty of murder in the first degree degree?

they were once only used by police but making their way into consumers cars. >> they could cost as little as $250 and they could help to protect you. imagine accidentally hitting a pedestrian who suddenly ran in front of your moving car when you had the right of way or being rammed by another vehicle or being pulled over by a police officer for no apparent reason. you know you did nothing wrong but how can you prove it? >> you can use it as evidence and for an insurance company that you are not liable. >> most insurance companies will accept dash-cam footage from the policy holders to assist in a claim. and they are useful in disputes with racial profiling by police and if your car is damaged while parked. >> inside is another matter.

>> if someone gets in your car because of privacy laws, it's important that you inform them they are being recorded because it varies from state to state whether that is legal or not. >> what should you look for? >> consumer reports complied a report of essential teachers, get a high definition cam with at least 1080 p and important is low light capability when it it's dark outside and at least 32 gigabytes to preserve footage and five minute loop times. dash-cams can give you peace of mind but don't forget that your own footage can be used against you. >> there is generally no legal obligation to save your dash-cam footage and destroying it it could lead to complications in the case of christmasal action

county police are sorting out a chaotic afternoon in claymont. what started as a traffic stop and ended in a deadly confro confrontation. >> that suspect was shot and killed in claymont, delaware, it started at 2:00 with reports of gun fire at 24th and market streets. the suspect was shot after he crashed two miles away from here. >> reporter: that is right, this is still an active scene, a tow truck just arrived to haul away that suspect's car and that car is making its way down philadelphia parkway. now, this started as a county police trying to stop a suspect in a separate investigation along market street in wilmington and that suspect refused to stop and crashed here in claymont. the car at the center of the car
