vitarelli. in the news fire spreads to several homes on a camden block. and a teen allegedly kidnapped by her teacher is reunited with her family. >> but the big story on "action news" is a shower moving our way for the evening rush home. and sky 6 hd looking live at the center city skyline, the cloud cover is moving in. kind of can't see the top of the buildings there. and we woke up to rain and keep that umbrella handy because more is in the accuweather forecast. karen rogers is at the big board tracking the showers. karen, we are in for a lull before the next round of rain. >> stormtracker 6 live double scan we see we are mostly dry through the area and maybe a speck coming down a drizzle drop or two. nothing like early this morning where we had a few showers of rain and satellite 6 along with action radar showing we are stuck in the clouds and a dreary day and cool out there. and we are tracking them. there are the showers moving through earlier. and stormtracker 6 live double scan you get a better sense. a front out to the west

progressing through the area and you may see a shower or thunderstorm firing up ahead of that. nothing like the morning hours though. this is spotty in nature through the afternoon and evening. cool with 55 degrees and lots of clouds in philadelphia. but you don't have to go that far to find the warmth. 73 in washington and 78 in richmond and 77 in roanoke. the warmth is bottled to the south and west. and getting the temperatures to climb up into the central half of our region. lets look at future tracker, this showing a shower or two popping up and 4:00 a quick thunderstorm and very spotty nothing like it was earlier this morning at 7:00 this evening. if there is a couple of showers around that is about it. as far as the showers this afternoon. you may see a shower or thunderstorm, and it's going be spotty and not everyone will see it but we are stuck with clouds.

4:00 p.m. 67 and 5:00, 68 and 7:00 we may hop up to 70 as the flow kicks up to the south and west. at 7:00, 69 degrees. we may have changes for the weekend and some rain on the way in a few minutes. >> thank you. turning to a developing story from philadelphia's logan section, a barrage of bullets critically injures one man and a bullet got lodged in a bed just inches from a sleeping man and this went down at north 15th and conlynn street. janet reyes is working the story since it broke this morning. >> reporter: well alicia, one man is fighting for his life this morning, and another recover from the shock of a bullet nearly hitting him while he was asleep and this happening a couple of blocks from a police

station. >> residents woke up to news of heavy gun fire overnight outside of their homes. >> i am not surprised. everybody has a gun no a days. >> philadelphia police say that 11:30 thursday night shots rang out at the intersection of north 15th and conlynn streets just a couple of blocks away from the police station and police responded and saw a car take off and guns were tossed out of the vehicle and two men described as persons of interest were brought in for questions. >> are you surprised this happened here? >> nothing surprising me anymore sweetie. >> shell casings were found on the ground and one narrowly missed a man asleep in his home. it was later found is a leap in his bed. >> he was blessed. a freak accident could happen to anybody at any given time. >> but to police there seemed to

be no shooting victim at least initially. >> when they were investigating the scene they were notify that a 29-year-old male showed up by private auto struck by gun fire multiple time in his left arm, left shoulder and left torso. >> just trying to be off the streets. >> there is nothing going on out here. >> and it's not known yet if the shooting victim will survive his injuries, he underwent surgery overnight and is listed in critical condition and investigation into the motive behind this shooting and the people behind it is still ongoing this afternoon. reporting live jeanette reyes, channel 6 "action news." several homes caught fire in camden, the flames broke out on mechanic street near lewis street and the fire spread to a home nearby forcing firefighters to call for backup and so far no

reports of injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. it's day two of the penalty phase of the trial of eric frein. it began one day after a jury found frein guilty on all 12 counts connected to the killing of a pennsylvania state trooper and the wounding of another. jurors heard from the widow of corporal byron dickson and described a lonely love and two sons suffering without their father. stay here for an update on the sentencing when we get it. an suv landed upside down after crashing into a korea in south jersey. the driver lost control on the 1700 block ofkersly road in gloucester township. the passenger and driver are both injured. police in princeton say that three people are attacked by the same groping suspect and he is

still on the run. police released this video of one incident that happened last week. and they have hidden the woman's identity here and you see the man come up from behind her and they grope her and he runs off in the other direction. police just released the rendering of how the suspect looks. if you have any information you are asked to call police. we are learning more about the gunman that opened fire at paris's famed champs-elysees. one the biggest tourist spots in europe. the attacker pulled up alongside a police vehicle and got out and started shooting with a military style weapon. >> it was absolute chaos. and panic. with all the people here on the street. people were falling down. >> one police officer was killed and the suspect was also shot and killed shortly thereafter. officials say he was a 39-year-old man from france that spent years in prison for trying

to kill to other police officers. isis claims responsibility for the attack that comes just days before the shotly contested presidential election. and the teacher accused of kidnapping a 15-year-old student is over. that student is expected to return home to tennessee where she will reunite with her family. >> reporter: the nationwide manhunt for elizabeth thomas is finally over after the 15-year-old tennessee teenager was found deep in the woods of california. thousands of miles away from her passenger home. >> we couldn't be happier to tell you she will soon be on her way back home to tennessee. >> she is apparently healthy and unharmed. >> safe but living through a harrowing journey. her teacher, tad cummings accused of kidnapping her.

the police got a tip they were hiding out in this cabin. >> they took tad cummings into custody and safely recover elizabeth without incidents. >> they went by fake names, john and joanna, and that cummings told him that the girl was 24 and she remained silent. >> she was stand offish. and he was talking for her and keeping her away. >> once he realized who they were he called 911. after more than five weeks with nearly 1500 leads from all 50 states with sightings of the pair from tennessee to georgia to oklahoma to they're fineal destination in california. police are finally bringing her home. >> we'll get her the help she needs. >> cummings faces state and federal charges including aggravated kidnapping and if

the man accused of a deadly shooting is rampage in fresno, california is expected to court for a different murder charge. corey ali muhammad allegedly shot a motel security guard to death last week. that muhammad carried out the hate crime on tuesday after hearing news report he was a suspect in the motel murder. and we are following developing news from california, a wild fire is threatening dozens of structures and it sparked yesterday afternoon and burned 1500 acres so far and firefighters think they have managed to stop the blaze's forward progress fueled by strong winds as you can see there and four homes were in danger of burning and crews got there in time to prevent any damage. a new york city firefighter died while battling a blaze at a queen's apartment building,

taking a live look at sky 6 hd looking at the beaches in cape may. not necessarily a place you want to be with pockets of rain on and off. but it's friday. >> and sometimes that is the only good news you have. it's not raining much out there, that is other good news for you. just clouds. looking at stormtracker 6 live double scan around the area, we are basically dry just a sprinkle trying to form near wilmington. we are not anticipating any showers or a thunderstorm until later on this afternoon even that will be spotty. now going outside live and the clouds are hanging tough as we look live at sky 6 hd. the energy stadium.

a lot of low clouds this morning and fog was an issue. temperature 55 degrees and dew point 51 and the air nearly saturated and the winds are out of the northeast light at 6 miles per hour and the ocean temperature 54 degrees. satellite 6 along with action radar showing we are socked in the clouds and a few hours of rain that moved out through your morning commute but as you look wider, here is the front that crosses through the area, a live look at the eastern satellite. the front is out to the west. and as that draws near it could trigger a shower or thunderstorm in one or two places. and you see the winds are still out of the east-northeast in filled and we are just at 55. and go to the south raleigh 82, the warmth is there and we are not able to get in touch with that yet. the wins are outs of the east-northeast. if you travel farther south of the city, south jersey and delaware you'll be closer to the warmth and it's numbers are

higher, north of the city highs in the low 60s today. it's a real range of temperatures today for you. 2:00 in the city, 64 degrees and still dry and clouds and 4:00, 67 and you can see a quick shower or a thunderstorm in one of two spots but it's spotty. nothing like the activity in the morning hours where we had the steady rain and a few people seeing a quick shower and thunderstorm. but i think that is isolated. 10:00, 65 and if you head to the phils game. for the most part just mostly cloudy skies season early on in the game maybe a quick shower near the area. and future tracker 6 showing not a lot of that activity at 4:00, a quick cell popping up in one or two spots and 7:00 maybe a shower around. doesn't look like much. but the clouds are holding tough for most of the afternoon and a spotty shower around. tomorrow quickly turning cloudy and late showers possible then took we talk about the

precipitation expected on sunday and how that has changed in the models showing the rain staying far to the south. . and this is the look at this model's projection especially south of the city a chance of rain saturday night into sunday and much of the afternoon will be clouds and an area of low pressure to the south and it's kind of stub urn. monday tuesday and wednesday. here is your exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast about 70 as a late day high in the city and just in the low 60s in you are north of the city. tomorrow lots of clouds and 66 degrees and some showers late saturday into sunday and you saw that especially south of the city. by days end you have lots of clouds and 63 degrees and monday mostly cloudy with a few showers early and 61 degrees and tuesday breezy and it stays cool and 62 with a shower. it looks like things change-up for us on wednesday. the sun returns and that upper
