of i-street. people got into an argument that dispute spilled into the parking lot, shots were fired, crews took the victims to temple hospital with gunshot injuries to their backs. no arrests have been made. >> in kensington the search continues for two men who fired shots in residential area. they were targeting a man sitting on a porch, but a 2-year-old child was caught in the crossfire. dann cuellar has the details. >> reporter: police, two men on bmx bikes were targeting a 26-year-old father sitting on his porch with his 2-year-old son. the child was caught in the crossfire. neighbors say it was a beautiful evening and a lot of people were out having barbecues and kids playing and when shots rang out. >> it sounded like a shotgun, i'm not familiar with the sound. >> reporter: when the smoke cleared it was evident a

2-year-old child was caught in the crossfire struck four times in the back. 26-year-old male was shot in the right knee an transported to temple hospital in stable condition. >> two males on bicycles, bmx mountain bikes came down the street on malta stopped at the front of the house and began firing at the adult victim. >> reporter: residents say there are shootings almost daily with stray bullets flying through homes. >> makes you want to cry, because it's a baby, you know, it's not something that you want to hear from nobody. you know, especially someone's kid that you're out here barbecuing or doing whatever ems having fun and your kid gets hurt. >> it's devastating think of all the people that had to be around it had to be the baby. >> reporter: breaks your heart, huh? >> yeah. >> reporter: at last word the child was listed in critical condition at st. christopher's

hospital after being shot four times in the back. his father in stable condition at temple university hospital. a man was taken into custody earlier has been released as the search continues for the two men riding bmx bikes. in the kensington section, dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> 9:04 a.m., new castle county police arrested a man accused of hitting a toddler with his car and taking off. 14-month-old leah purdue was struck in her driveway on the unit block of roosevelt avenue in newport, delaware yesterday morning. 20-year-old elijah meredith injured the girl after visiting the child's mother at her home. police arrested him late last night. leah has a fracture skull and bruises. 11:20 p.m. there was a

shooting in delaware county east 21st street, a 20-year-old woman was shot temperatures taken to crozer -- several times, she was taken to crozer-chester medical center. no arrests have been made. crews are working to lift a truck and boat trailer from the bottom of the delaware river. i want to take you to the scene after a man attempted to put the boat in the river on the boat ramp of the 5300 block of state road. somehow the boat and trailer and truck ended up in the water. the boat, trailer and truck sank, not clear what went wrong there. >> happening now, the search continues for a man delaware state trooper say stole more than $2,300 worthy of cologne. it is believe he stole from three different walgreens in

wilmington and dover between march 2r50th and 29. i-78 in greenwich township berks county, a five vehicle chain-reaction collision involved two tractor trailers and car. three people were hurt, the most serious, a truck driver with burns to his body. all expected to survive. the road was closed for hours, but again, it is now back open. president donald trump has arrived in saudi arabia for his first foreign trip as president. that visit is part of a high stakes five country mission which the white house hopes might turn the page on the investigation and allegation also raging at home. we have details on the president's welcome to saudi

involves safe injection sites where drug users can inject heroin under the supervisionful a doctor. mayor kenny and governor wolf outlined the details. >> to turn this epidemic around many observations have to do their part. i'm asking doctors, nonprofits and businesses and residents of the philadelphia to read the report and see what you can do to help combat this crisis. >> experts predict opioid deaths in philadelphia this year will exceed the numbers in 2016 reaching nearly 1200 deaths. it is now 9:09 a.m., this weekend a special event being held in honor of delaware state trooper corporal stephen ballard who was shot and killed in the wawa parking lot in bear on april 26. a true to blue memorial fest will be held in smyrna. that event will include music and kid-friendly festivities and food and more.

some passengers rushed in to help the flight attendant to subdue the man. hours earlier, the suspect was cited for trespass in los angeles for opening a door that led on the airfield ramp. the man had been drinking but they determined he was not drunk. the statue of general robert e. lee was the final monument removed from the city of new orleans. the city council voted to remove the four monuments. it sparked protest by those who feel it is part of southern heritage and honor the ded. legislature will consider a bill to not remove monuments without a local vote. brooks has been the naacp

seven-day forecast. thankfully the heat wave is gone. >> reporter: it's gone, see i -- see ya. it's getting cooler, you need a jacket, compared to the 90s over the last few days, the humidity has dropped off, it is nice and refreshing. we have showers north and west across the lehigh valley and another round of showers over burlington county. north of 70, actually it's in between 70 and 38. it's pushing over route 206 in medford and mount laurel into browns mills, the heavy downpours are not affecting too many at this point. we're noticing shades of yellow here, earlier it was all reds that's a sign this was weakening. that's all she wrote in terms of of the downpours, once that pulls through that's all we see for the day. clouds and sun for the remainder.

while swimming in the delaware river. overnight police and coast guard searched the area of linden avenue in torresdale. the missing teenager and three others went for a swim at 10:00 p.m. the other three made it to a boat ramp they called 8911 after they searched for the 4 teen and could not find him. plans to remove a traffic light in the hunting park section of the city sparked protest in the middle of an intersection where two children have been killed. jeff chirico explains. >> reporter: protesters took to the street at 4:00 p.m. and blocked the intersection of north 32nd and west allegheny. it didn't take long for tempers to flare as drivers and septa bus passengers found themselves stuck. from chopper 6 hd you can see rush hour traffic backing up as residents demanded an end to plans to remove a traffic light. >> our people in this community have a right to keep the lights we have children we pay taxes,.

>> we told them we didn't want the light moved two kids were killed here. >> reporter: rose cooper said the fatal accident in 1978 led officials to install the lights, now an improvement project on the stretch of allegheny avenue is calling for lights on 32, 28 and 26th to be replaced with flashing lights. >> we have children that live in the neighborhood. >> reporter: the decision was based on on money, a study found the intersection don't have the necessary traffic volume required for the feds to fund the project otherwise. penndot will install safety features similar to the one at 17th and arch that officials claim have a calming effect on traffic. >> we have 60-plus kids that leave at this hour everyday. >> reporter: the principal of st. james school said penndot has not considered student safety. >> we have thousands of cars on their way home they are going to run over the kids because they will remove a traffic light.

>> reporter: protesters tied up the intersection for two hours, police rerouted traffic around them. penndot said if all goes as planned, the changes will be complete by summer's end. jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> a 33-year-old man was shot and killed on the 1000 block of wagner avenue in logan section. police were called to the scene at 8:00 p.m. the victim was rushed to einstein medical center where he died of his injuries. police are talking to a person of interest in the case. a man is facing a judge this morning for shooting and killing his girlfriend a mother of two young children in the home on the 100 block of spring valley road yesterday morning. officers say the shooting happened following an argument. neighbors helped lead police to moses. the mother of a

22-month-old boy found locked in a cage in manheim township defended the enclosure. the mother claimed local child welfare workers approved of the plywood structure. police arrested the father after three children were found alone. the toddler was in the cage a one-year-old brother in the play pen, the day old baby girl in the car seat. >> the whole purpose was so he couldn't get out and hurt himself. we did not have the intention of locking our children inside a cage. 38-year-old cecil kutz remains in jail on child endangerment charges. more than 11 families in new jersey have experienced a family member disappearing without a trace and today new jersey state police are holding an event in north jersey in hopes of cracking cold cases. new jersey correspondent nora muchanic with the story. >> you carry it with you?

>> everyday. >> reporter: jill jones was 3 years old when her brother disappeared near the house in vineland. despite an intensive search he was never seen or heard from again. >> i don't know who did it, as time goes on, i don't come who did it. cases like billy jones seen in the computer generated age progression will be the focus of state police sponsored missing persons event in new jersey. >> the purpose is to identify our long term missing cases and let families know they are not alone. >> reporter: there are 1100 long term missing in new jersey and 325 bodies never identified. >> we're looking for pictures of scars or tatoos. families who come to the event will be asked to bring photos and dental records and asked to
