city. a 14-year-old boy is dead after being shot multiple times. frankfurt avenue and oor and ors street. the second victim, a 16-year-old was shot once in the shoulder. police tell us he's in stable condition. no word on the shooter or shooters or if the teens were targeted. the investigation is well under way. today is the end of the memorial day weekend, 2017. it was a cloudy, cool day. that didn't stop the festivities. tonight, people are home after a long three days with family and friends. christie ileto is in center city. we begin with cecily tynan to see if the cloudy weather will clear up soon.

look at memorial day events. >> hi, sharrie. the weekend with packed with patriotic festivities. as the day came to a close, many spent their final hours stuck in traffic. >> three exits prior to atlantic city, it was a crawl. >> the exit leaving the jersey shore was a long line of brake lights back to philadelphia and the suburbs. >> how do you describe it now? >> crowded. >> crowds like the shore itself despite the soggy memorial day weekend. >> we didn't get to the beach. >> no beach day? >> it was a cleaning weekend. >> while others paused in reflection at washington scare in the city. >> it was the annual reeth-laying ceremony to remember fallen veterans.

veteran's war memorial. >> not to be forgotten, homeless veterans were served a meal. hundreds sat down together for a picnic style feast. a third of the homeless population have served in the armed forces. >> on his first speech since his return, president trump laid a wreath at arlington national cemetery. >> we pay tribute to those brave souls that raced into gun battle and ran into hell, face down evil. >> the president then visited the graves of soldiers that died in recent battles.

in other news tonight, philadelphia police are investigating a home invasion in southwest philadelphia. this happened before 6:30 this evening on the 6,000 block of kin saying avenue. the intruder walked in the front door and to the back of the house to let another person in. the homeowner was home and called police. the people took off running. no one was injured. thieves struck a week ago targeting auto repair shops. they stole eight batteries from one business alone. no arrests have been made. this is what two under cover septa police officers were offered along the market line in

comcast business. >> developing news from iraq tonight where a car bomb exploded outside of a popular ice cream shop leaving 13 dead and 24 injured. the blast was massive and could be seen for miles. investigators say the car was packed with explosives and detonated remotely. many of the people at the ice creek shop were families who ended their ramadan fast. hundreds gathered at st. ann's square to remember the victims in last week's bombing killing 22 people and injuring

hundreds at an ariana grande concert. a zoo keeper in england is dead after an encounter with a tiger. the zoo management says the tiger entered the enclosure with the keeper. the female keeper died at the scene. the zoo was evacuated. it will remain closed another day while the investigation is investigated. >> at the lehigh valley zoo, six-year-old giraffe ernie died of a neck injury. he arrived from kansas city last week. and the world's most prescribed medication may be the most overprescribed.

the drug is designed to increase low thyroid hormone levels. experts at the mayo clinic say most patients don't need it. symptoms of underactive thyroid are vague and similar to other conditions. patients on thyroid medication should be checked three months after starting it. one country is cracking down on those that don't vaccinate their children. parents refusing vaccinations could be fined up to $2,800. a decline in immunizations have caused spikes in diseases like measles and chicken pox in
