"action news" does of course have a crew on the way on that scene and we'll have a live report as soon as they get there with more information. >> well, the escaped prisoner who caused alarm in bucks county has likely left that area. police believe someone picked daniel shelby up early this morning at a convenience store. in the frantic search for him authorities closed schools for the day and the told people who live nearby to stay inside. "action news"'s walter perez has more on the investigation. >> reporter: it all started late last night when the suspect daniel selby jr. was picked up by authorities in lansdowne for failure to appear on a drug charge. while being transported selby told the officers that he was sick. when they allowed him out of the van to get some air selby allegedly pushed a deputy and ran off still wearing handcuffs. reverse 911 calls went out top people across bucks county urging them to shelter-in-place and call

authorities if they had any information. meanwhile the central bucks school district also canceled all classes today in response to the manhunt but investigators say selby was picked up by someone in a car early this morning near the 7-eleven on edison road and route 611 and has since left the area. on top of the original drug charges when selby is eventually recaptured he'll likely now face a felony charge for escaping and assault. >> pushed the sheriff in the flight from the car. he pushed the sheriff out of the way. that makes it an assault. >> reporter: meanwhile neighbors say they're just glad to hear that the suspect does not pose a threat to the community. after an alarming situation at the outset. >> it was raining anyway, so we were inside but we were not letting the kids on their bicycles since they called off school in the local area, so, we just. >> reporter: just to be safe. >> yes, sir. kept them close to the house. >> reporter: selby wears

"action news" reporter vernon odom has been in the courtroom all day. he joins us now live from norristown with an update. vernon. >> reporter: brian, sharrie, good afternoon. after 18 months of legal wrangling and maneuvers, indeed the cosby trial is finally under way. there was emotional testimony from a key government witness today but not before one of cosby's hold show biz friends showed outpatient here on his behalf. for the first day of his trial

bill cosby was accompanied by keisha night pulliam who played rudy on cosby's hit tv show on the huxtable family. she talked with abc today about what brought her here. >> just really important for me to be here to show my support for mr. cosby. at the end of the day it's the jury's job to discern the truth. but at the end of the day t-it's just -- it's what what yu do in terms of being supportive. >> reporter: the first prosecution witness today was a woman who knew bill cosby back in the 90's and los angeles and worked him when she worked at his talent agency. she testified cosby lured her to a bungalow at a hotel where he plied her with wine and cosby took her clothes off and sexually assaulted her. she decided she and her family decided not to press charges fearing cosby was too famous and she would wind up

the jury in bucks county deliberating the fate of man accused of sexually assaulting six girls. earlier today closing arguments were made in the trial of 52-year-old lee kaplan. police say daniel and seville la stolfutz gifted their girls to kaplan in exchange for financial help. kaplan's lawyers say the girls lied about the sexual abuse to help their mother get out of jail. the sisters lived in kaplan's home for about five years. >> two delaware teens learn their punishment for their roles in the school bathroom attack that be led to the death of amy joyner-francis. the 17-year-olds will spend six months in a juvenile facility. in april she was convicted of negligent homicide. a second girl found guilty of conspiracy will be on probation for 18 months. after the hearing a spokeswoman for joyner-francis' family says she's not sure that they will ever find closure. >> she had 16 years to make amy a lady and the other parents had the same opportunity do that for their children. so, at the end of the day

that's what it really is. it's all in how you raise your children. >> an autopsy showed joyner-francis died of sudden cardiac arrest triggered by the fight inside howard technical high school in wilmington. she had a rare un deducted heart condition. >> traffic on the northbound lanes near exit 10 was that stobbed following a three week crash. it happened about 9:45 in tinicum township. "action news" has confirmed the victim wall a junior at academy park high school in sharon hill but the school hasn't released the victim's name. three other students from the school were in the same vehicle as the victim. their conditions are not known at this time. >> well, it's not something you want to find roaming in your backyard but a warning today, a bear is hanging around homes in bucks county. chopper6 hd flew over the area of county line and bustleton avenue that of feasterville this morning. if you know the area, that's near somerton springs swim

club. you can see the bear making his way through backyards. the animal has been spotted several times in recent days. just yesterday it was sleeping in a tree not too far from the same spot. parkway west of long beach island right through mays landing, the interchange of the atlantic city expressway wet from harrington down to atlantic city and that extends even down to fortescue as well as dover. so, in that area with it seeing a good amount of rain this afternoon, a flood advisory in effect until 7:15 for southern parts of cumberland county, central parts of atlantic county and extreme southern ocean and burlington county where there is minor flooding on area roads. as you go into the overnight hours tonight and beyond, those showers will start to drift off the coast but there could be some still popping up especially in those southern areas, maybe a late thunderstorm nearly the lehigh valley. very unsettled the next two days and then summer meet in that seven-day forecast. a big turn around from the start of the seven-day to the end. we'll show you that alicia in a little bit. >> adam thank you. a tragic morning in orlando florida where a fired employee shot and killed five of his former coworkers before then turning the gun on himself.

the orange county sheriff identified the shooter as 45-year-old john robert newman jr. they say he was recently laid off at an orlando area rv awning business. the sheriff said newman was armed with a handgun and large hunting knife and he killed himself just before deputies arrive. they described him as a disgruntled former employee who was acting alone. >> what i can tell you is that our records indicate that he is a veteran of the u.s. army, discharged honorably back in 1999. we're frying understand other issues about him as this investigation moves forward. >> now, some of the victims were identified today during a press conference. eight witnesses also survived this attack. the shooting is making headlines now as the orlando community prepares for the one-year anniversary of the tragic pulse nightclub shooting, the deadliest mass

way at albert einstein medical in the olney section. the hospital also posted a statement putting out some news at this point. they are telling those who may have appointments to call if you have any appointments scheduled to give einstein medical a call. again, power issues at albert einstein medical affecting some portions of the hospital. we'll keep an eye on this and update you when we get more informationally. >> in london today, police have now released the names and -- released the names and images of two men they say are behind the attack that killed seven people and critically injured dozens more. this is 27-year-old khuram butt and rasheed. police say they are two of the three mean drove a van into a vowed of pedestrians on the london bridge saturday and then went on a knife rampage nearby. as a vigil grows for the victims we are starting to see their faces and hear their stories.

30-year-old christine archibald a canadian citizen was the first of the dead to be publically identified. she moved to europe to be with her fiancé. on saturday she died in his arms. >> it is now clear that sadly victims came from a number of nationalities. this was an attack on london and the united kingdom but it was also an attack on the free world. >> that the word from british prime minister theresa may this afternoon and here a look at the london bridge where you can see security is ramped up, new security barriers are also in place to prevent cars from getting onto walkways. the islamic state group has claimed responsibility for these attacks. london officials say the possible inspiration could be a message that was posted by isis on social media on saturday calling on followers to kill civilians during the holy month of ramadhan. today prime minister may also called upon social media companies to step up their efforts in the fight against terrorism. brian. >> and alicia back in

washington the white house is defending president trump's tweets over the weekend which werely directed at the mayor of london. a spokeswoman is denying that the president was picking a political fight with mayor sadiq khan. the president tweeted this that the mayor told londoners not to be alarmed about it but that took the mayor's comments out of context. mayor kahn was telling londoners not to be fearful that increased police presence in the coming days signaled another attack was coming. still, the president doubled down tweeting today that the mayor's response was "pathetic coat. president trump meanwhile wants to make changes to the nation's air travel industry by privatizing the air traffic control system. he signed the initiative this morning at the white house saying the system is painfully stuck in the past. >> our plan will get you where you need to go more quickly, more reliablely, more affordable technologically and yes for the first time in a long time on time. >> the president maintains his plan will not use any taxpayer money.

after a decent amount of sunshine over the week. the steadiest of the rain now is sinking to the south of philadelphia and this is where it's been through much of the day and you can see some pockets of downpours right there, you got the split of the garden state parkway, the atlantic city expressway just to the east of mays landing north of atlantic city and even some pops of some heavier rainfall down to dover as well as fortescue. as we flip the radar into its rainfall total mode here you can see over the last six hours, you see these areas of green that are kind of developing to the north of millville, inch and a half of rain there, near an inch and a half as well right along the atlantic city expressway, oceanville about 1.2-inches and that's the same for fortescue so in these areas where you have these pockets of heavy rain there has been some minor flooding this afternoon on some area roadways. temperatures have been in the upper 60's to low 70's which is below average but when you step out, it's not that chilly damp feeling, it feels tropical out there and it's all because of the humidity

and those dewpoints which are running in the upper 60's, even touching near 70 in dover, closer to that in wilmington as well as lancaster so the higher that dewpoint number over 60 degrees, it feels more tropical out there and that is going to change as we go into the overnight. and it's all because of a cold front near pittsburgh and binghamton as that slides down here, it's pushing the rain away but it could even bring a thunderstorm in later tonight and it's also going to usher a north wind in so we're going to lose that humid feeling as we go into tuesday. so, 10 o'clock tonight, there's the front to the north, again could spark a quick thunderstorm in the poconos or lehigh valley. most areas stay dry overnight. as we wake up tomorrow morning, the clouds are still here, upper level low comes in with some energy, so scattered showers throughout the day tomorrow at lunchtime, maybe even a few downpours developing at times or the rumble of thunder and as we get into tomorrow afternoon, not much changes, the clouds are here and a few showers. and take a look at the temperatures tomorrow with that northeast wind, does not

the teens each face 10 counts of attempted murder. also breaking right now, crews are working to stop this. water gushing from a 16-inch line break in abington. this was the scene from chopper6. the water is gushing down backwards and the front steps of homes onto the road. the break is in the area of tyson and bradfield avenues. right now abington police have the 900 blocks of tyson and edge hill road closed. the call came into police about 3:15 and crews from aqua america are on scene trying to stop this. the extent of damage to property here is not yet clear. we are also keeping a very close eye today on the sexual assault trial of famed comedian bill cosby. day one of the criminal trial began with cosby entering arm and arm with his cosby show daughter keisha knight pulliam. the man once known as america's dad stands accused of drugging and molesting former temple university

employee andrea constand. the defense claims constand's story has been inconsistent. constand is expected to testify along with another woman who'll claims cosby molested her in the same way. if convicted the 79-year-old faces charges that could put him in prison for the rest of his life. >> well, police in chester county say a construction worker was seriously hurt while directing traffic today. chopper6 was over the scene near the intersection of pottstown pike and taylor's mill road in west goshen. that's where the traffic flagger was struck by a passing car around 12:30. the worker was rushed to paoli hospital with serious injuries. the car did stay at the scene. we're still waiting, though, for more information about the actual accident. the manhunt for the suspects wanted for punching a person with cerebral palsy in west chester has come to an end. investigators arrested 29-year-old barry baker around 8:00 this morning in uwchlan

township in connection with the may tenth incident which as you see was caught on camera. this surveillance video appears to show baker mock the victim outside of a 7-eleven on the 200 block of south high street before punching him in the face. baker is charged with simple assault and related offenses. he was also wanted for unrelated charges. >> all right, turning our attention now to accuweather weren't listen, no complaints around here because we had a pretty nice weekend. >> we did. so we're going get the rain over with the beginning of the week and then it clears up by the end of the week and this upcoming weekend looks amazing at this point. >> okay. >> the timing is just right. as we take a look at that rain out there right now in cape may p-live on sky6, the sand is very wet, 68 degrees is the air temperature and that dewpoint at 67 so it's kind of a tropical feeling rain, it's not a chilly rain even though winds are out of the north-northeast at 3 miles an hour. as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan the steadiest and heaviest of the rain all day has been south and east of philadelphia.

to get it back home resting high on a branch in feasterville. bob, what's the update here. >> reporter: brian, he's still eluding officers. i'm keeping my voice down because we don't want to spook the bear any more than it is. we're about as close as you can get to the animal other than the pennsylvania game commission. he's right behind me just a few hundred yards away. it's a top of that tree. i'm not sure if you can see it through the branches. he's on the property of the somerton springs swim club. that is the black bear. now famous in bucks county he's surrounded by the game commission police and curious spectators. what do you think about that? >> crazy for me. >> reporter: that's christopher. him and his dad live down the street. they figure bear watching is. >> it's better than video games. >> reporter: of course christopher wants a happy outcome. >> get down safely. >> reporter: colleen brought her whole family to see the bear. >> what else is there to do on rainy day.

[laughter] >> reporter: you want the bear to chase you. all fun aside the bear almost came down at one point today. the game commission was poised for a shot with the tranquilizer but they were spotted and it climbed back up. that sound those were blank shots fired at him but he only climbed up higher. a drone was also sent up to get a bird's eye view. it appeared to wake him up. >> the plan is to let him climb down t-i'll guard him, he'll fall asleep hopefully and we'll get him out of here. >> reporter: so, another live look at that tree and where that black bear is. again, people trying keep a relaxed environment out here as they try to get this bear to come back down. a lot of people have asked why not put some food, doughnuts or deli meet at the bottom of the tree to get him to come down. the game commission says he's too scared. reporting live in feasterville bob brooks channel6 "action

carter was charged with involuntary manslaughter although there is no law in the state that specifies encouraging suicide is a crime. >> an elite rock climber is celebrating a personal and professional milestone today. over the weekend alex hunhold became the first to scale el captain. he reached the peek under four hours. honnold who spent two years preparing for the climb says some of the placed to hold onto were so small they could only be gripped with only his thumb. >> wow. big talkers now and a talent show for hundreds of elementary school kids in new york city went from celebratory to sort of controversial. this outlandish drag performance put on by the district's pta president was billed as a surprise finale.

well, it ended up sending many in attendance walking out. that pta president on the stage there frankie quinones says the goal was to present tolerance. parents discussed outrage. they say this was not appropriate for children especially the little ones. >> he gets on all fours, legs wide opened, you know, revealing his crotch area and just very inappropriate something that's done in a nightclub. >> again, that performer was the pta president. the new york city department of education called the content inappropriate for the school kids and says that this will be quinones' last term. in nebraska a soccer team was disqualified not because there was a girl on it but because of that girl's haircut. this is eight-year-old millie hernandez and this weekend she helped to lead her team to the finals of their soccer club girl's tournament. but they were suddenly disqualified because organizers believed millie was a boy.

why? because she has short hair. >> she was in shock. >> she was crying. they make her cry. >> that's because i look like a boy doesn't mean i am a boy. but they don't have a reason to kick the whole club out. >> millie's family claims she even showed her insurance card to tournament organizers to prove she is a girl but apparently that wasn't enough. millie says this this will not hold her back from playing soccer somewhere else. special and talented little girl there. finally it is being called the preprom bash of all bashes. single mom who single-handedly turned the streets of north philadelphia into dubai. mom has been planning this and saving for it for years and she went all out, three luxury cars including a lamborghini. she rented a live camel. she built sets all for her son, johnny j.j. eaton, jr. who had three looks designed by a stylist and he had three

home but i don't think there will be any camels in your way so we've got that going for us. good afternoon brian and sharrie, this is in your way, broken down vehicle along 95 in delaware county. northbound side close to 452, so this is just north of the pennsylvania-delaware state line. as you can see it's taking out the left lane so it's just those two right lanes squeezing by it is a slow go coming out of delaware into pennsylvania along 95 northbound. elsewhere in delco in prospect park we have that accident along 420 lincoln avenue by maryland avenue by marty mcgee's. that's cleared out of the way now as is the crash on lincoln drive southbound near johnson street. everything is reopened there and our medical emergency on the southbound boulevard at rising sun has also been resolved so everything is cleared out there, all lanes opened. at this point it's mainly just heavy volume on the schuylkill and 95, a lot of speeds in the 20's. but we still have that water main break in abington township centered around tyson avenue and bradfield road but a chunk of edge hill is also blocked. highland avenue jenkintown road would be some possible alternates. also watching a wreck in

there's a 90 in that seven day but we got wait until the end. right now we're dealing with rain south and east of philadelphia. dealing with some heavy steady rain especially in parts of cumberland county south of millville there, near fortescue, just west of sea isle city and it's a steady light rain, glassboro salem smyrna sea isle city to cape may and also a heavy hit of rain just to the north and west of atlantic city in absecon. there you can see the split of the garden state parkway, the atlantic city expressway, all this heading just to the north and west of brigantine where they're dealing with just some light steady rain at the present time but some of these areas are picked up about an inch and a half of rain so some area roadways taking on little excess water. so, if you see a water covered roadway always turn around, find an alternate route. temperatures once again very cool. the way the last month or so has been in and around the area, 73 in allentown, 71 reading, the same for wilmington. 67 in millville and despite

these numbers are below average it feels rather tropical and muggy out there with the wind coming in out of the southwest. so, as we take a look at the very last couple of frames here on the satellite and radar, you can see the northern edge of the rain continues to fall apart. everything's kind of sinking to the south and east and we're awaiting a front that's going to come in right here a little bit later tonight and that's going to send a north wind and then this swirl between toronto and ottawa that's upper level energy that's going to slowly slide in here over the next couple of days. so, that low as it drifts down is going to remain very unsettled here for the next two days so this cutoff low it's called, so it can't move, it's kind of separated from the jet stream, the air that moves our weather system so clouds dominate, on and off showers and temperatures remaining 10 to 15 degrees below average. future tracker shows at 10:00, 9:30 tonight most of that steady rain it's gone in southern new jersey and parts of delaware. there's the front that could

spark a downpour or a thunderstorm lehigh valley and the poconos late tonight. tomorrow morning the clouds are clouds are here a few light showers to the north and west but as the low continues to spiral through and kind of drift by, 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon some hit or miss downpours and showers and that continues into the day on wednesday as well in the morning the clouds are around and still a shower or two in the afternoon. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, those two unsettled days in the 60's, humidity is gone so it won't feel as muggy as today. it's not a washout either day but expect a shower or two to kind of drift by. thursday, friday starts to turn warmer and brighter in the 70's. saturday there could be a thunderstorm in the afternoon but it's very scattered at 82. and then it heats up sunday along with the humidity, 88 and more humid and hot come monday, up to 90 degrees, so you have a good five day stretch there, some sunshine and warming temperatures. >> okay. thanks adam. >> hope you enjoy it. >> we will. >> once it gets here. >> what's the deal is coming
