show. today the jury which was select the last week in pittsburgh heard opening statements from both the prosecution and the defense. "action news" reporter vernon odom and chad pradelli are live at the courthouse tonight. vernon, let's start with you. what happened inside the courtroom today? >> reporter: jim, there was a lot of drama inside and outside the courtroom today. two women from bill cosby's past showed up here. one who testified in court that she was sexually assaulted by bill cosby back in the 90's and another long time admirer who came to court to praise him. for the opening day of his trial bill cosby was accompanied by an old colleague who came to norristown to offer moral support keisha knight pulliam a child actress portraying rudy during the glory days of the fictitious huxtable family on television. she spoke with abc news. >> this is not the man that i've ever seen, that i've ever known. how he's ever shown up for me. so, at this point in time, i

feel, you know, i can only go based on the interactions that i've had with him. >> reporter: but as prosecution testimony started, another female from bill cosby's past emerged kelly jackson knew cosby in the 90's in l.a. she told the jury cosby lured her tour a hotel bungalow plied her with drugs and wine and proceeded to sexually assault her as she went from extreme drowsiness to unconsciousness. >> by having been sexually assaulted or by some other event, then sometimes it's hard to recall every single dee tape. cosby's lawyers went on the attack challenging her credibility and her inability to remember statements she made to montgomery county detectives as recently as 2015. jackson was called to the witness stand bolster the d.a.'s claim that this is a cosby's bad behavior over decades. 60 women claimed cosby used the same drug and alcohol ploy on them.

it's what former temple university employee andrea constand says cosby did back to her in 2004. that cosby and drugged and as sexually assaulted her. lawyers and bill cosby are still in court where they have follow-up arguments on some of the proceedings today and they're meeting with the judge at this hour. the trial will resume in the morning. no word yet as to exactly when andrea constand is expected to take the witness stand. live at the montgomery county courthouse in norristown, i'm vernon odom channel6 "action news." jim. >> thank you, vernon. "action news" reporter chad pradelli has been focusing on the happenings outside the courthouse. chad, with all the interest in this case, what was the scene there today? >> reporter: well, jim, the media is out in force. let me kind of set the scene for you. right behind me you can see plenty of cameras. not a lot of spectators we've seen here today. this is basically been the

scene. what they're doing right now, they're waiting for bill cosby to emerge from the montgomery county courthouse as today's testimony ends. outside the montgomery county courthouse, satellite dishes microwave towers and tripods littered the landscape, the national media is on hand to hear comedian bill cosby fight sex assault charges. >> i think it's kind of exciting to tell you the truth, yeah, seeing all these news medias around here and being right underneath it eight. the throng of media had elizabeth curious but others had a ho-hum attitude to the opening day of testimony. >> any interest in seeing cosby or what's going to happen here. >> none whatsoever, none whatsoever. it is what it is. >> reporter: across the street from the courthouse steps, two eateries had a nice little bump in business. the tables inside the cafe were filled. >> any high profile thing brings a lot more people. this is as big as it gets.

neighborhood ever wanted. a break in a 16-inch cement water main caused a big waterfall and flooding along edgehill road near tyson avenue. "action news" reporter walter perez is live on the scene. walter, what's the situation there right now? >> reporter: well, jim, it is a real mess down here in roslyn. we'll give you a live look at the scene right now where repair crews are doing their thing. the good news is the ruptured main has been shut down but the bad news is thousands and thousands of gallons of water swept through and into dozens of homes here. so that's your house with all the water cascading off the property. >> that is correct, sir. >> reporter: aaron houston of roslyn says it started right around 3:15 this afternoon when out of nowhere he heard the sound of rushing water. >> wife gets up and we look and it was a tidal wave of water coming down the back of the house. >> reporter: what houston heard and saw was thousands of gallons of water cascading down this hilly section of abington township after a 16-inch main ruptured.

it took a full two hours for crews to finally shut down the main and by then the damage was done. several families had to be evacuated. approximately 85 residents will be without water service until tomorrow morning at the earliest and this stretch of edgehill road will remain closed off to traffic until sometime tomorrow as well. abington township deputy police chief patrick malloy says this will not be a simple fix. >> we're trying to assess the damage of some of these properties down on tyson avenue. we're concerned that there may be some structural issues because of the amount of water that flowed through those basements. currently we're working with our township officials, our engineers and aqua officials to assess that damage. >> reporter: back out live people are already contacting the township for information to help them file insurance claims. township officials tell me that info is already being posted on the abington township web site facebook page on twitter as well. reporting live from roslyn, walter perez channel6 "action news." jim. >> thank you, walter.

late this afternoon philadelphia police announced the arrest of two gunmen they say fired into a crowd last month in strawberry mansion. the shooting happened may 20th on the 2500 block of north 23rd. police say the suspects fired 27 rounds on the group gathered for a graduation party. 10 people were injured. 19-year-old tyrell broad nax turned himself in today. 18-year-old quadir burly is currently in the montgomery county jail on a theft charge. the teenaged suspects each face 10 counts of attempted murder. police have called off the search for an escaped prisoner in bucks county because they believe he's left the area. investigators say daniel selby jr. got into a car at a 7-eleven at 5:30 this morning. authorities arrested selby last night for failure to appear on drug charges. while being transported at 10:30 last night selby told officers he felt sick. officers let him out of the van to get some air.

selby allegedly pushed the deputy and then ran off still handcuffed. investigators say when selby is eventually recaptured he'll likely face an added felony charge for escaping and for assault. a judge in delaware has sentenced two teenagers for their roles in death of classmate amy joyner-francis. the 17-year-old convicted of negligent homicide will that spend circumstances -- six months in a juvenile facility followed by two years probation and 500 hours of community service. the 16-year-old found guilty of conspiracy was sentenced to 18 months probation and 300 hours of community service. an autopsy revealed joyner-francis died of sudden cardiac arrest triggered by the fight inside a bathroom at howard high school of technology in wilmington in 2016. a jury is now deliberating the guilt or innocence of a bucks county man accused of sexually assaulting six sisters.

prosecutors say the girls' parents gifted those girls to 52-year-old lee donald kaplan. the defendant claims both he and the parents considered the oldest daughter to be his wife. he also claims that while all of the girls lived with him, he never touched the younger girls. a member of the road construction crew was that rushed to the hospital after being struck by a passing car this morning in chester county. the accident happened just before noon near the intersection of pottstown pike and taylor's mill road in west goshen. the victim was working traffic control for a private company. officials have not released -- released details of the victim's injuries. voters head to the polls tomorrow in new jersey for the primary. the gubernatorial primary is the big race on the ballot. five republicans and six democrats are vying to take over for governor chris christie. christie has hit the term limit and will leave office in january. the polls are opened from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. tomorrow.

>> once it gets dark we would evacuate and let him kind of travel on his own but this is a very populated area, worried about him getting hit by a car. >> reporter: this is the now famous black bear in bucks county that has caused quite a spec spectacle. you're asked to leave him alone but if you come for a quick look please be quiet. they want him sent back home unharmed. >> get him down safely. >> reporter: car lien brought her whole family to see the bear. >> what else is there to do a a rainy day. >> reporter: grandma came in with quite the sound bite. >> maybe it will come and chase me.
