deliberations 10 times to revisit testimony or ask for clarity on one thing or another. late today, cosby's spokesman says they remain hopeful. >> i have a a lot of faith in this jury. i think this jury is looking at -- they're retrying the case. ents,more are they going ask the opening arguments? i think they have all the evidence now that they could ever want. >> reporter: the 79-year-old courthouse looking tired from the wear of the prolonged trial an old man ostensibly lookin his nightmare appears to be coming to an end and perhaps there was a hopeful note to that end when the jury asked for the definition of reasonable doubt but those hopes may have been dashed when the jury also asked for about a dozen excerpts from cosby's deposition in which he talks about obtaining quaaludes to give to women he wanted to have sex with. they also asked for the portion of constand's testimony where she talks about telephone calls to cosby as well as phone records introduced as evidence. in addition they asked to hear a portion of her mother's

testimony where she talks about her two and a half hour phone conversation with cosby about a year after the sexual encounter a call in which gianna apologized and described himself as a quote/unquote sick man. the defense dam argued that the jury essentially wants to hear the whole trial all over again. deliberating now for more than 40 hours, that a mistrial should be declared but the judge ascan deliberate as long y want. >> the jury still actively deliberating. there is no reason, well, more importantly, there is no case be court in support of a trial whia jury is actively deliberating. >> reporter: now, as far as the jury working this weekend if need be, the judge has given no indication that he will make that happen. but his staff s possible and that he could rule as late as tonight if there is no verdict.

campaign probe. abc's lana zak is live in washington tonight with more on that. orter: hi there, rick. the top democrat in the house intelligence committee says that republicans and democrats now need to come together with a plan of act president decide to terminate the deputy attorney general or the special counsel.dent trump is railing against the independent investigation amid reports that his actions are being reviewed for possible obstruction of justice. the president tweeting i am forg the fbi director by the man who told me to fire the fbi director. witch hunt. those tweets seem to confirm that the president is among the people under investigation by special mueller appointed by the deputy attorney general rod rosenstein. in a memo to the president rosenstein raised concerns over james comey's performance but it's mueller not rosenstein heading the investigation. rosenstein is starting to discuss recusing himself from the investigation which would

how does it look. >> it looks to stay a bit on the unsettled side. sky6 live down the shore in cape may kind of hard to make out the shot there. there's the beach and you can see the rip currents. we're dealing with a lot of low level moisture and a lot of fog as well so we've got a constant flow of moisture coming in from the atlantic so if you're at the shore tonight right into tomorrow rip currents are a big concern. moderate to high risk of rip currents. we've got a strong on shore wind so piling up of water. if you are at the shore over the weekend it is a good idea to swim where you have lifeguards on duty and where the guarded beaches are there as well. right now as we look at the heat index across the region 85 degrees in philadelphia when you factor in the heat and the humidity. 75 in reading, 72 in allentown at the coast in cape may, 73. atlantic city 83, dover coming in in the lower 80's as well. here is satellite6 along with action radar. we've got a mostly cloudy sky across the region but if you look off to the west we're tracking a little bit of

and once again, cosby supporters and those backing his accuser andrea constand rallied around the courthouse. >> today we want to thank mr. cosby's fans. they don't get to see that on the news. tongue, it's it's a melting pot of people. >> reporter: the jury is deliberating the sexual assault case against cosby. the seven men and five women continue to ask the judge questions and for legal clarification. today they wanted to rehear testimony relating phone records of accuser andrea constand and her mother. they also listened to the actor's statements about giving a powerful sedative known as quaaludes to my women he wanted to have sex with back in the 70's. the jury also requested the definition of reasonable doubt. >> mr. mcgonigle seems to be very, very nervous today. i mean, at least his client does. at least from his constant efforts to end this. i think he sees that there is a risk to his client with continued deliberations. >> reporter: a major development came thursday when the jury told the judge they

were deadlocked and could not reach a unanimous decision on any of the three charges against cosby. the judge ordered them to continue to deliberate and the waiting continues. >> cosby's accused of drugging and sexually assaulting andrea constand back in 2004. he denies any wrongdoing. he's charged with three and counts of aggravated indecent assault. each carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. >> i have a lot of faith in this jury. i think this jury is looking at -- look they're retrying the case. what more are they going ask for? the closing arguments? the opening arguments? i think they have all the evidence now that they ever want and hopefully we can come to a, [inaudible] some way some how. a little after 5:30 this jury is still at a deadlock and he should of we should, we should mention the judge denied the defense request for a mistrial. live in montgomery county, gray hall channel6 "action

news." monica. >> thank you, gray. stay with "action news" of course for continuing coverage after cosby trial. whenever a final verdict or announcement from that jury is made we'll bring you the breaking developments on air here as well as 6abc.com and on our facebook and twitter pages. >> we have some breaking news to pass along tonight from gloucester county, new jersey. chopper6 is over the scene of a multi-vehicle crash here in woolwich township that's left one person dead. the accident happened here on route 322 and garwin road. details are sketchy but this multi-vehicle crash apparently left one person dead. you can see ambulances and emergency officials at the scene there and looks like one vehicle overturned. one person was taken to crozer chester medical center but again, another person did not survive this collision. police are on the scene investigating as well. and we will continue to monitor the situation and bring you updates as they become available from this deadly crash in woolwich

township, new jersey. other news tonight. at least two people are on the run after working together in several smash and grabs in south jersey. these surveillance feety -- photos were released from evesham township police. the suspects burglarized six stores. the stores include the lucky seven deli on maple avenue. the suspects smashed glass doors to get in and then took cash. burglar alarms did get off but the thieves managed to get away. a tense situation ended peacefully here along i-95 in bucks county. the southbound lanes were closed late this morning near woodburn road in middletown township. that's where a driver hits the back of a dump truck. the man ran out of the vehicle went across the road and threatened to jump off the bridge. took over an hour to convince him not to jump. he was taken to the hospital forehead injuries and mental evaluation. >> a bombshell business deal was brokered today. amazon announced it has agreed

to purchase whole foods for more than $13 billion. it is an ambitious push for onle retailer. it's still not clear what, if any, changes would be made to the stores and we get the latest on this surprising deal from abc's marci gonzalez. >> reporter: from gadgets to groceries amazon already offers it all online. >> reporter: the retail giant though now entering a whole new world announcing plans to buy upscale grocery chain whole foods for more than $13 billion. >> and for consumers it probably means interesting new ways to purchase food that happen to be at -- that haven't been triedism the deal coming with whole foods sales slumping since february. the stores will continue operating under the same name and in an e-mail the company sought to assure customers the focus on organic natural food

the change includes restoring some travel and economic restrictions that were lifted by obama's historic deal. trump who is in miami today says that deal was "misguided" and announced penalties on cuba would remain in place until its government respects freedom of expression and releases political prisoners. he demanded cuba return joanne chesimard who was convicted in the 1977 murder of a new jersey state trooper. she's been living in cuba since 1979 after being granted asylum. >> so to the castro regime i repeat, the harboring of criminals and fugitives will end. you have no choice. it will end. >> embassies in havana and washington will remain opened and u.s. airlines and cruise ships will still be allowed to serve the island of cuba. >> a new jersey school district will reissue its yearbook after photos of two students were altered to remove president trump's name

on their clothes. wall township school officials say the yearbook administrator has been suspended without pay in one case a student wore a sweater with trump's name on it and in another a student wore a t-shirt that said make america great again. both those photos were all thed to remove the messages. the district will now issue corrected year books with the messages to all students. >> it was graduation day today for lots officer schools in our area. the action cam was in the city's somerton section this morning for commencement ceremonies at george washington high school. graduates received their diplomas as family and friends looked on taking pictures. in northeast philadelphia lots of hugs and smiles here as the swenson high school class of 2017 received their diplomas. ceremonies took place this morning at holy family university. and seniors at mass charter school embarked on their next chapter of life today. they took part in their graduation ceremony this afternoon which was also held at holy family university. some words of wisdom with the graduates. >> very nice. >> time to get a check of the traffic scene friday night. >> for that we go to matt pelman with the very latest on folks trying to get that weekend started right. >> i really wish i had good news for the dear old dads, old dads like yourself. >> thanks. >> unfortunately we've had a lot of issues this afternoon including a crash here on 95 and northbound past cottman. it just cleared within the last couple minutes. delay has not cleared. that northbound travel time system still more than three times what it ideally should be. then on the southbound side a vehicle broke down here by allegheny avenue. that, too, has cleared out of the way. and our crash on the blue route, 476, southbound by the route one media bypass has cleared so a lot of our issues are clearing. we've got big delays in the wake of them. still a 39 minute travel time on the southbound blue route so that's still more than a 20 minute delay. if you're crossing the commodore barry bridge into that gloucester county get on 295 southbound. do not keep going along 322. blocked off because of that

>> residents of the london highrise that was destroyed in that massive fire earlier this week stormed their local town hall today. some of them forced their way into the upper floors where that officials have that offices. their protests come as british media reports that the cladding used on the outside of this building was cheaper and more flammable than other materials like it. the death toll now stands at 30 people. officials say the intensity of the fire was so hot it may have destroyed much of the dna of the victims of course making it difficult to identify those who died. >> well, mcdonald's is cutting ties with the olympics. the fast food chain was under

>> this could be our next home if technology maven elon musk has his way. today musk published his plans for the future of space flight and they include not only travel to mars but actual colonies. the space-x founder says it's possible within our life times. space-x is currently planning to send a robotic mission to mars by 2024. murk says manned missions could begin that same year. he says the key is creating reusable space ships which could carry a hundred people at a time. that he says could get 1 million people to mars within the next visit to a hundred years. >> wow. very ambitious. >> all right, melissa magee here with that accuweather forecast in for adam and a word on when we'll see the sun again. >> the big story is going to be the humidity and also the

pop-up shower and thunderstorm threat. the pop-up issues, you can see it's dry right now. no issues with precipitation in our immediate area but you notice off to the north and west we've got some moisture just to the west of harrisburg and also some activity to the south of dover. we'll track some of this moisture to creep in as we get into later tonight. right now you look at the heat indices across the region. we are in the 70's and 80's. 85 degrees in philadelphia, 80 at lancaster but if you've been outside you also notice an increase in the humidity as well so that's really making a difference today. feels like 84 in millville and 81 degrees in dover. here's satellite6 along with action radar. you can see we've got a partly cloudy sky across our region, a few peeks of sun coming out as well. you look off to the west and we're tracking a disturbance moving across western papa west virginia, virginia and the carolinas. some of this moisture works its way to the north and east. a lot of it will fall apart but some could move in late

big story on "action news" tonight is the latest in the bill cosby sexual assault trial. we are live here at the montgomery county courthouse in norristown where the jury is now in its fifth day of deliberations. is cosby guilty of any or all of three counts of aggravated indecent assault? and efforts to answer that question, the jury continues to ask questions about previous testimony. they have now asked 10 in all. cosby turned to twitter today and posted a thank you to his fans.
