deliberations 10 times to revisit testimony or ask for clarity on one thing or another. late today, cosby's spokesman says they remain hopeful. >> i have a a lot of faith in this jury. i think this jury is looking at -- they're retrying the case. ents,more are they going ask the opening arguments? i think they have all the evidence now that they could ever want. >> reporter: the 79-year-old courthouse looking tired from the wear of the prolonged trial an old man ostensibly lookin his nightmare appears to be coming to an end and perhaps there was a hopeful note to that end when the jury asked for the definition of reasonable doubt but those hopes may have been dashed when the jury also asked for about a dozen excerpts from cosby's deposition in which he talks about obtaining quaaludes to give to women he wanted to have sex with. they also asked for the portion of constand's testimony where she talks about telephone calls to cosby as well as phone records introduced as evidence. in addition they asked to hear a portion of her mother's

testimony where she talks about her two and a half hour phone conversation with cosby about a year after the sexual encounter a call in which gianna apologized and described himself as a quote/unquote sick man. the defense dam argued that the jury essentially wants to hear the whole trial all over again. deliberating now for more than 40 hours, that a mistrial should be declared but the judge ascan deliberate as long y want. >> the jury still actively deliberating. there is no reason, well, more importantly, there is no case be court in support of a trial whia jury is actively deliberating. >> reporter: now, as far as the jury working this weekend if need be, the judge has given no indication that he will make that happen. but his staff s possible and that he could rule as late as tonight if there is no verdict.

and once again, cosby supporters and those backing his accuser andrea constand rallied around the courthouse. >> today we want to thank mr. cosby's fans. they don't get to see that on the news. tongue, it's it's a melting pot of people. >> reporter: the jury is deliberating the sexual assault case against cosby. the seven men and five women continue to ask the judge questions and for legal clarification. today they wanted to rehear testimony relating phone records of accuser andrea constand and her mother. they also listened to the actor's statements about giving a powerful sedative known as quaaludes to my women he wanted to have sex with back in the 70's. the jury also requested the definition of reasonable doubt. >> mr. mcgonigle seems to be very, very nervous today. i mean, at least his client does. at least from his constant efforts to end this. i think he sees that there is a risk to his client with continued deliberations. >> reporter: a major development came thursday when the jury told the judge they

were deadlocked and could not reach a unanimous decision on any of the three charges against cosby. the judge ordered them to continue to deliberate and the waiting continues. >> cosby's accused of drugging and sexually assaulting andrea constand back in 2004. he denies any wrongdoing. he's charged with three and counts of aggravated indecent assault. each carries a maximum sentence of 10 years. >> i have a lot of faith in this jury. i think this jury is looking at -- look they're retrying the case. what more are they going ask for? the closing arguments? the opening arguments? i think they have all the evidence now that they ever want and hopefully we can come to a, [inaudible] some way some how. a little after 5:30 this jury is still at a deadlock and he should of we should, we should mention the judge denied the defense request for a mistrial. live in montgomery county, gray hall channel6 "action

township, new jersey. other news tonight. at least two people are on the run after working together in several smash and grabs in south jersey. these surveillance feety -- photos were released from evesham township police. the suspects burglarized six stores. the stores include the lucky seven deli on maple avenue. the suspects smashed glass doors to get in and then took cash. burglar alarms did get off but the thieves managed to get away. a tense situation ended peacefully here along i-95 in bucks county. the southbound lanes were closed late this morning near woodburn road in middletown township. that's where a driver hits the back of a dump truck. the man ran out of the vehicle went across the road and threatened to jump off the bridge. took over an hour to convince him not to jump. he was taken to the hospital forehead injuries and mental evaluation. >> a bombshell business deal was brokered today. amazon announced it has agreed

to purchase whole foods for more than $13 billion. it is an ambitious push for onle retailer. it's still not clear what, if any, changes would be made to the stores and we get the latest on this surprising deal from abc's marci gonzalez. >> reporter: from gadgets to groceries amazon already offers it all online. >> reporter: the retail giant though now entering a whole new world announcing plans to buy upscale grocery chain whole foods for more than $13 billion. >> and for consumers it probably means interesting new ways to purchase food that happen to be at -- that haven't been triedism the deal coming with whole foods sales slumping since february. the stores will continue operating under the same name and in an e-mail the company sought to assure customers the focus on organic natural food

the change includes restoring some travel and economic restrictions that were lifted by obama's historic deal. trump who is in miami today says that deal was "misguided" and announced penalties on cuba would remain in place until its government respects freedom of expression and releases political prisoners. he demanded cuba return joanne chesimard who was convicted in the 1977 murder of a new jersey state trooper. she's been living in cuba since 1979 after being granted asylum. >> so to the castro regime i repeat, the harboring of criminals and fugitives will end. you have no choice. it will end. >> embassies in havana and washington will remain opened and u.s. airlines and cruise ships will still be allowed to serve the island of cuba. >> a new jersey school district will reissue its yearbook after photos of two students were altered to remove president trump's name

on their clothes. wall township school officials say the yearbook administrator has been suspended without pay in one case a student wore a sweater with trump's name on it and in another a student wore a t-shirt that said make america great again. both those photos were all thed to remove the messages. the district will now issue corrected year books with the messages to all students. >> it was graduation day today for lots officer schools in our area. the action cam was in the city's somerton section this morning for commencement ceremonies at george washington high school. graduates received their diplomas as family and friends looked on taking pictures. in northeast philadelphia lots of hugs and smiles here as the swenson high school class of 2017 received their diplomas. ceremonies took place this morning at holy family university. and seniors at mass charter school embarked on their next chapter of life today. they took part in their graduation ceremony this afternoon which was also held at holy family university.
