markell fultz was once cut by his varsity high school basketball team. now the sixers are set to make him the number one overall pick in thursday's draft once the trade is official. fultzments to come into the nba and kill it. his goals to be rookie of the year and the next most valuable player. fultz had a small taste of what it's like to play in philadelphia at a sixers game in april and he fell in love with this team and this city. >> i saw the team still fighting hard. and the most important thing was the fans were there no matter what. that was big. and being out there, i could imagine myself helping the team out, for sure. that's what i do every game i watch. if i was on the team, what could happen? >> so how will fultz fit in with the sixers? we'll discuss on action news sports sunday at 11:45, mast mast mast -- mike is getting micked up.

thousands of people came to center city today to take part in the annual lgbt pride festival. today's started before noon at 13th and locust. after they arrived, marched down locust to penn's landing. it was a 29-year tradition that started as a small gathering in the 1970s. those who took part say this event is about pride and inclusion >> so much energy and so many people so accepting of everything. i love it. >> i think it's important to show our pride. for everybody in inclusion of everybody. >> this is one of two big events for the lgbt community in philadelphia.

next one will be out-fest coming up in october. >> today is, of course, father's day. and one annual tradition that's close to our hearts here at 6abc is the gary papa run. the event raises money for the battle against prostate cancer and pays tribute to all fathers as well as our friend. action news reporter trish hartman has the story. >> among the sea of runners and walkers participating in this 15th annual gary papa run. >> thanks for doing this. >> reporter: was steve lewis ofland dale. a six year survivor. >> the papa family, because of what he went through. but he's having an impact on other people, parenthesessing it. >> reporter: action news sports director gary papa lost his six year battle with prostate cancer in june of 2009 just before father's day. ever since the papa family has spent this day raising awareness about early detection and raising funds for the foundation for breast and prostate health.
