much nicer weather will come after this mess. >> all right, let's get the latest from meteorologist adam joseph. >> some of these downpours and thunderstorms developing near state college back towards pittsburgh. that's where the core of the steadiest heaviest widespread rain is a lot of this working from the southwest to the north and east. there is a severe thunderstorm watch up for lancaster county in our viewing area own orange line points to the west but things are beginning to fire up as you're noticing that sunshine returning out there and it is very uncomfortable with the humidity and the heat and that will fuel more to pop here this evening but there's the cold front to the north and west that picked up again the remnants moisture from that what was cindy. that circulation near nashville so all this has to slide through our region overnight and tomorrow morning o we'll take it piece by piece. there's a scattered risk for severe storms all the way through wilmington philadelphia trenton. there's not a watch right now but there could be a watch

issued sometime this evening for the heart of the delaware valley, strong winds is the major concern there but you can take a look at those dewpoints, that moisture rich air dark greens in the midatlantic with dewpoints in the lower and middle 70's. that just means there's a lot of water molecules sitting in the atmosphere so when a storm hits it literally floods that rain out of the atmosphere. so, scattered storms and downpours here this evening, right through saturday morning. some areas could see up to 3-inches and if that happens, there could be some localized quick flash flooding with the heaviest steadiest of that rain with the front passing through between 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock tomorrow morning and when i come back we'll talk about a seven-day which features better news here for most of the weekend sharrie. we have a little bit of a change that you're going to like that in accuweather forecast. >> i'll take your word for it. adam thank you. speaking of the time line adam just mentioned be sure to check back with "action news" tonight at 11:00 and tomorrow morning starting at 5:00 a.m. for the latest on the forecast for your weekend and remember you can get the latest weather

"action news" reporter john rawlins live this afternoon in marple township where one of these incidents took place and john, you've got the latest on the investigation. >> reporter: are hi, brian. well, the marple case took place last weekend. that led to a philadelphia incident. the two earlier cases were in delaware county, that went back to may. what's new today is surveillance video. both men described as heavy or thick set asians wearing gray hooded sweatshirts black pants, wasn't black hat the other a dark green eagles hat. they have a pattern. >> enter the house, find clothing jewelry, cash, disable the camera system, sometimes remove it from the house. >> reporter: but in this case, the video was streamed

heats up on capitol today negotiations were in full swing. so far there's strong opposition to the senate republicans plan to replace the affordable care act and that bill is not only facing criticism from democrats but also from within the republican party. many of whom are demanding some fixes. the gop cannot lose more than two votes from within the party and already five conservatives are now hard no. some say they believe the bill doesn't do enough. others worry it repeals too much. >> it deserves consideration and debate. >> 52 all of us. all of us have leverage this is an opening offer not the final deal so time will tell. >> here's our it works. the bill would end the affordable care act that everyone must have insurance. it offers tax credits but scrapped subsidies to lower costs. it rolls back the obamacare expansion of medicaid but it does leave in place protection for people with preexisting

conditions. despite negotiations an pending analysis from the congressional budget office senate gop leaders are still trying to get this bill passed before the july 4th recess. president trump is calling it a complicated situation but says "i think we're going to get there" and just this afternoon we found out that the number of republicans against the plan in its current form again has risen to five. brian. >> protesters opposed to the plan are going to great thrones make their voices heard. this was the crowd that protested through the night outside pennsylvania senator pat toomey's philadelphia office. the republican helped to craft the plan to reportedly fought for the roll backs to medicare that it does include. he says it puts medicare on a more sustainable path but these protesters call it immoral. they'll continue holding 24 hour vigils to show their opposition. >> there is a new tool in delaware county aimed at fighting the opioid crisis. the this is the county's new drug collection van. it will be parked as community easty events and you can bring

friday. >> all right. it's that time to head to the beach for the weekend. matt pelman standing by in the "action news" traffic center with the -- oh, my goodness, that's not good. >> no, never good. there's nothing too groundbreaking on the traffic front, that's the good news this afternoon brian and sharrie. it's just the typical busy summertime friday afternoon with a few complications. there's the penndot truck. penndot is watching their truck. they were responding to a disabled vehicle that broke down on the ramp from the 30th street station to the westbound side of the schuylkill. they're really spinning this camera but there it is now off to the side, police on the scene. that big jam you saw was on the eastbound side of the schuylkill and it doesn't end there at the vine. you hit the brakes really hard once you're around passyunk avenue over toward the walt whitman bridge as people head down the shore this afternoon. on the bridge itself just 13 miles per hour at the moment. had a broken down vehicle as well upon 95 southbound side approaching academy. that's gone now but still heavy as you come down from woodhaven. let's talk about the situation as you get closer to the shore points. you know we've got that ongoing construction where the

fleetwood kind of skirting the northwestern suburbs of berks county. watch the storm to the west of lebanon as they head to the east around 55 miles an hour. there are severe storms here. three lightning strikes. this is the very beginning in of were could be an active evening in spots. that temperature has risen to 88 degrees and with that dewpoint of 72 degrees, that 88 feels more like 95 degrees in philadelphia right now with a hot and muggy southwesterly wind at 20 miles an hour. in fact, 99 right now in millville with the heat index, 97 wilmington, 104 in dover, 98 in lancaster so again that sunshine came back out and these numbers are just skyrocketing here and that's a lot of energy for these storms and downpours to work off of. in fact, we look to the west here and you can see a line near pittsburgh heading into the ohio valley. that's the actual front that's going to pass through early in the morning hours but until then future tracker at

7 o'clock this evening, there will be these scattered downpours and thunderstorms that do develop and with that moisture rich atmosphere these will be very heavy hitters. most of them look to stay philadelphia to the north and west. quieter south and east at 11 o'clock tonight and then the actual front comes through early tomorrow morning. it's going to be a quick hit of torrential rain tomorrow morning but the latest now with all the models is it kicks it out very early in the morning so that sun will be back for most of us late month, into the afternoon salvaging most of saturday around here so some good news if you're at the shore tomorrow, that morning rain giving way to afternoon sun of 86 degrees. quick returning sun here in the city. 90 degrees tomorrow, the humidity does come down and in the poconos sunshine almost first thing in the morning tomorrow now of 77 degrees. so, your four day at 4:00 forecast still some rocky weather to go through but again it clears out quickly here tomorrow morning. at 90 degrees in the afternoon

well. there are some new additioning to philadelphia's city hall. today we got a look at the courtyard where they've added a stage and seating. you'll also notice a specially designed umbrella that collects rainwater for the planters. these new additions will stay out through the fall and return after the winter. the hope is that this new space will bring the community together and make them feel welcome at city hall. >> the best of best local high school baseball players are facing off today at citizens bank park. this is the semifinals for the annual phillies carpenter cup. four teams are competing today. two teams will advance to the championships tomorrow and for a lot of players this is their first time at a major league baseball field so quite the experience. it's also a chance to play in front of big league scouts and possibly earn college scholarships. a california man is accomplished something that will make a lot of disney fans very jealous. jeff wright entered disneyland yesterday for the 2,000th day in a row. he's been going every single

but chance weren't filed against the officer. we'll explain. >> but we begin 4:30 with the changing accuweather forecast. >> yes. skies may be bright at this hour but that won't be the case in just a few hours thanks to what's left of tropical storm cindy. she's expected to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms over the next 24 hours and for more on the timing and the threat we get right to meteorologist adam joseph with the details. >> yeah, brian in threat is scattered for this evening and most of the overnight hours and tomorrow morning there will be a wall of water coming through for very brief amount of time when the actual cold front passes by. this is the front near pittsburgh to cincinnati and it has picked up the tropical rains from cindy that was in the gulf of mexico so everything is basically one at this point and it all has to wipe through here. most of the action again is still way, way, way to the west but we have been dealing with some thunderstorms popping up now that the atmosphere is super unstable with that sunshine back out and that intense humidity. we have a severe thunderstorm what, in effect for northern

parts of lancaster as the storms are racing to the east at about 55 miles an hour. it's a very small corner near adams town right now and on the border ofelsdorf. winds near 60 miles an hour with that many particular storm. so what to expect here overnight. it's scattered downpours and some gusty thunderstorms. not everyone is going to see them. again it's kind of here and there. then early tomorrow morning 4:00 a.m. to about 8:00 a.m. in the morning there will be a brief line of torrential rain and thunderstorms but that's out of here so by midday tomorrow into the afternoon it turns sunny and the humidity drops around here so a pretty good saturday setting up after those early morning hours. and we'll talk about that part of the forecast and the second half of your weekend in just a little bit. >> sounds good adam. stay tuned "action news" with coverage.

we'll be on saturday morning beginning at 5:00 a.m. >> we turn now to south jersey where that officials are still trying to figure out what sickened several high school students following a graduation ceremony last night. "action news"'s gray hall live now near eastern regional high school with the very latest. gray, any new information here today? >> reporter: well, brian, we've been working as you know all day trying to get that new information. hours after this incident we have heard from some students but we still have not heard from the superintendent of this school district how about those kids got sick. hours after the graduation ceremony for eastern regional high school in voorhees, the after graduation party was interrupted by this intense scene s about 9:30 thursday night chopper6 hd was above the high school as emergency crews responded to treat several kids who somehow got sick. students we talked to are still not sure how the students became ill or what caused it. >> seemed like there was some kind of incident before we were going to the fun plex and

we were actually on our way there, the buses got turned around and the police like had to pull a couple people off the buses, that sort of thing. >> some of the ems guys came on. they said there's been some stuff going on that they say if you know anything about it come off the bus. >> reporter: "action news" has learned that hundreds of graduates were head to a huge party called project graduation that was held at a nearby fun plex. the company's chief operating officer says he got word from the school that the buses would be delayed. he confirms none of those students got sick while at the event but says they were sick upon arrival. >> some students did arrive here and started to become sick or were sick on arrival. one was transported and four others were released to their parents and left. project grad went on until 2 o'clock in the morning, very successful last night, all the students had a fun time. >> reporter: fun plex says project graduation is an annual event held at its facility to give students a drug safe and alcohol place to hang out after they graduate.

workers admit they were disappointed by the negative attention. employees say they are not aware what caused the illnesses but say some of the students complained of being nauseous weren't treated right weigh. >> i don't believe this was an incident with eastern high school and it wasn't the fun plex. it was something else outside of that. >> reporter: all right, so back out live we're told those students who were sickened should make a full recovery and again, we should stress that we reached out to the superintendent of the school district several times and we still have not heard back as to how those students got sick. that is the latest from here in voorhees, gray hall channel6 "action news." sharrie. >> all right, a lot of questions. hoping to get some answers. gray thank you. plan who was punched in the face by a wildwood police officer last weekend is now facing charges. a passerby recorded video of patrolman lucas bottoms subduing 55-year-old kevin piccolo with his fists last sunday. wildwood police admit the clip might be considered disturbing but maintain it was taken out

of context. they say piccolo was causing a disturbance and refused to comply with the officers' commands both verbal and physical. they say patrolman bottoms was forced to escalate the situation to bring him under control. piccolo is facing a number of charges including disorderly conduct k patrolman bottoms is on desk duty until the investigation is complete. >> a hearing on philadelphia's beverage tax had to be postponed today after committee members were drowned out by protesters of. >> and it went on like that pro tax demonstrators armed with whistles signs all kinds of noise making devices took over city hall this morning blowing their horns and chanting the senate local government committee was supposed to listen to local businesses and employees testify about the economic pain the beverage tax is causing them. but just one minute into the

hearing protesters who support the tax to fund public spaces and pre-k programs made their voices heard. now at one point a group of children took over the seats usually respect served for politicians. counties of councilwoman helen gim says the kids were facing down lawmakers trying to take their pre-k. the meeting was canceled after 40 minutes. wagner is reportedly rescheduling it in harrisburg. >> jehovah's witnesses are gathering for their conference o "eyewitness news" was at the liacouras center for opening service. members will spend the next three days discussing scripture participating in group activities and public forum. >> customers who stop to fill up at one bucks county gas station may be stuck with a costly damage to their cars. >> ♪ >> all right, meteorologist adam joseph joining us now with the first worked on the weekend forecast. a little bit of a mess to get through. >> this evening, tonight, very early tomorrow morning but most of the weekend looking really nice with that sunshine. >> look at all the thumbs up. you see that. >> how many. >> all of us. >> alicia's four there. >> two thumbs up over there. >> as we take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan, we are dealing with some downpours and thunderstorms in those far northwestern suburbs that have been developing around harrisburg. they're moving to the east at about 30, 35 miles an hour on average and a new severe thunderstorm warning has popped up for northern lancaster county, manheim over to ephrata and right on the border of adams town winds gusting at 60 miles an hour this warning in effect until about 5:30 so that's at least 30 to 35 minutes from now because the storm is still way to the west and has to pull through the county. as you can see it's south of

lebanon right now moving east at about 30, 35 miles an hour. there are the towns, the times when you can expect that storm to push through again with some very strong winds, vivid lightning and we're also dealing with some pop-up downpours and a rumble of thunder or two in berks county near reading right now. most of the lightning with this particular storm is still way to the west so this is a downpour passing through down upon reading heading off to the north of 422 but you kind of get the idea, these are popping here and there and that will be the case during the evening hours. but those dewpoints are outrageous. basically this is the highest that they get in our region ever throughout the summer. it's 77 in millville, 76 in wilmington. it's harder to get a higher than these numbers of 79 in dover, so it's super saturated out there and even uncomfortable allentown and trenton in the lower 70's. and that's pulling heat indices in the mid and upper 90's for wilmington philadelphia lancaster dover, over 100 degrees right now in the lehigh valley, kind of

near that 90-degree mark. we have a front to the north and west and there is low pressure that is the remnant low of what was cindy sparking some tornado watches for the tennessee valley and that low will come through with the front early tomorrow morning but before that, again, you can kind of see some scattered storms 9 o'clock tonight. most of the action is north of the city. then the front -- there's the line that comes through saturday morning at 7:30 in the morning. it will be a quick wall of heavy rain but it's out pretty quickly now and we, again, have a pretty nice saturday on tap with lots of sunshine, dropping humidity of 84 degrees so really beautiful as we get into the 90's tomorrow and this is sunday with that westerly wind so equally as nice sunday with lower humidity at 84 degrees. 64, that's your ocean temperature down at the shore. morning rain giving way to sun for the rest of saturday afternoon, 86 degrees. and low humidity and a beauty here on sunday at 82. as we look at the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, 90
