itself, take a look behind me, utility poles are down. i'm told 8 to ten poles fell down it will take several days for this to get cleaned up. several poles are put back in place, 40 customers are without power. to a neighbor who said he has been living here a long time and never seen anything like this. >> i woke up and heard thunder and lightning, got up at 8:30, we had no power that's what i woke up to. >> reporter: despite all the damage in browns mills out in collingswood throughout the area we do not have a single report of someone being seriously injured. that's what people say they are most grateful for. bob brooks channel 6 "action news." >> we're tracking other news of the morning for you, an american airlines jet heading from philadelphia to frankford germany returned to philadelphia because of mechanical problems,

the flight was in the air for 2 1/2 hours of the 8 1/2 hour flight when the pilot turned back because of the mechanical issue. the plane landed at philadelphia international airport early this morning, american airlines has not said what the problem was. a lehigh valley town is shaken by an apparent murder suicide, a fugitive couple firing shots at police were found dead in the upper salken township home. this starting pointed when an officer noticed the couple in a car. the district attorney said they were wanted for parol violations in the area. as the officer approached the man pulled out a gun and fired. call for help captured the terrifying moments. >> handgun shots were fired. >> well at that point, the officer stopped chasing the suspect and called for backup.

the district attorney picked up the story from there. >> individuals, at least two homes we know of which were occupied at the time they found one individual they left that home and found a woman sitting on her porch with the dog, they wanted car keys from the woman, she said she didn't have any, they went inside the home, the woman at that point with the dog left and went to a neighbor's home. >> the couple was tracked to the five thousand block of lime port pike. as police closed in they heard gunshots. teargas was used to get the couple to come out. police got inside the home and found the couple dead in the attic. this morning we're waiting to learn the couple's identity. we're continuing to follow a story that we reported for breaking news yesterday.

the search continues for the person who brutally murdered a woman. she was stabbed repeatedly and beaten, her partially clothed body was found on the ground of dobbins high school in philadelphia. jeff chirico will have more on the disturbing story in the next half-hour. despite growing opposition from gop moderates and democrats, senator bernie sanders says. >> everybody knows the affordable care act is far from perfect. our responsibility to improve it not destroy it. >> koch brothers say it does not go far enough to cut government healthcare.
