street expressway in center city philadelphia. an early morning crash killed at least one person and closed part of the road. this is video right here of the wreckage in the eastbound lanes of the highway between the broad street and 8th street and exits, the crash happened at 5:00 a.m., it trapped a person inside the vehicle, that person was freed and transported to hanheman hospital. the victim was pronounced at the hospital. this is a live picture of the vine street expressway, you can see the area is still shut off. crews still on the scene. eastbound traffic is getting off the road at the broad street exit. more on the story at 6abc.com. and let's take you live outside on this sunday morning, 7:00 a.m., the calm after a stormy saturday morning, that left parts of the area under tornado warnings. >> a pleasant good morning to you, at least two tornadoes hit a new jersey town. a fugitive couple die in a

standoff with police in the lehigh valley. one suspect fired shots at police before breaking into homes with people inside. a flight in philadelphia turns around halfway to germany. we'll tell you why. >> this is a tornado guys we're going inside. >> wow intense scene there. his fear was correct. the noocial weather service -- national weather service confirmed two tornadoes touched down in howell, monmouth county new jersey. a man captured this twister rumbling toward a home depot. look at the images there. this did not hurt anyone or cause any widespread damage in that area. the national weather service said the tornado was on the ground for less than two minutes. >> meteorologist chris sowers outside now, he is tracking it

all on top of the bad weather system that moved in yesterday. the good news as folks clean up today they won't be dealing with the severe weather. >> reporter: nice, quiet weather folks can start cleaning up. we were tracking the storm northeast of trenton traveling toward jackson township. we saw the hook echo on storm tracker 6 live, sure enough it did produce the ef-o tornadoes in howell. we have a couple of pictures sent in, this is showing the damage that occurred in parts of the area yesterday. this appears to be straight-lined wind damage in gloucester county. you can see the up rooted trees here. winds 60 to 70 miles per hour. browns mills, they had confirmed micro burst, straight lined winds up to 75 miles per hour. there's a series of telephone

poles blown down. collingswood, new jersey, you can see how everything is blown over in the same direction. this would indicate straight lined wind damage a lot of uprooted trees. national weather service confirmed it was a micro burst that hit the browns mills area 75-mile an hour hurricane force winds. we had two tornadoes in howell township, new jersey, maximum stained winds at 75 miles per hour. the good news when you kale these tornadoes, ef-0, ef5 this is the weak ez tornadoes on that -- weakest tornado on the scale. now we're getting air from canada, temperatures cool down and humidity dropped off.

we're at 57, 58 degrees standing on city avenue, no humidity at all, 36 in vineland, 64 in glassboro, 65 degrees in hammonton. forecast for today, a nice day to just hang out by the pool. mostly sunny skies, mid 80s, comfortable humidity levels and nice refreshing breeze, a dramatic change from the violent weather we had yesterday. if you like the comfortable weather it's going to be sticking around for a while, i'll be back in just a few minutes, i'll let you know how long it sticks around and we'll talk about a possible heat wave by next weekend. >> thank you so much. many people living in burlington county, new jersey we'll be clearing the downed trees and downed power lines. browns mills got hit extremely hard. the wind sent power lines dropping like dominoes. you can see them lying in the street. bob brooks surveyed the damage and went to harder hit,

collingswood, camden county. >> reporter: much of collingswood looked like this with crews cleaning up from the storm that blew through town that didn't last long, but it was powerful and destructive. >> we thought was a tornado, it was so loud and so violent. >> the wind and debris was just flying everywhere. we ran down the basement and within seconds it was done. >> reporter: that's greg and susan whose cars were totaled. >> i'm happy we're all okay. >> reporter: the a neighbor had a tree fall on her house. >> it sounded like a train coming through. >> reporter: so you heard the train. >> the wind was so loud. the house shook. >> reporter: down the street bill tucker had branch fall on his retirement gift, a new mustang. >> one branch was across here

and one here, i bet you ten thousand dollars between the roof and the body to be done. >> reporter: you can see utility poles are down, power lines on trent road. 8 to ten poles start out, it will take several days to clean it up. several poles have been put back in place, only 40 customers remain without power, we spoke to a neighbor who said he has been living here a long time, and never seen anything like this. >> nothing at all. i woke up and heard thunder and lightning and got up here about 8:30 a.m., we had no power and that's what i woke up to. >> reporter: despite the damage in browns mill out in collingswood and throughout the area, we do not have a report of anyone being injured and that's what people say they are most grateful for. bob brooks channel 6 "action news."

>> there's no official word if this is a tornado in burlington county, an "action news" viewer snapped this picture not far from fort dix. surveillance cameras captured incredible video of a storm blowing through new castle, delaware. the wind ripped a fence a part tossing pieces into the air. some sections of the fence ended up in the overhead lines. philadelphia donald the storm, but there was sporadic damage, power lines were down at 19th and became bridge. peco on both sides of the delaware river have been working hard to restore the outages. a fugitive couple firing shots at police were found dead in an upper salken township

home. it was the end of a ten hour standoff. district attorney said the couple was wanted for parol violations. an officer approached the man he pulled out a gun and fired. calls for help captured the terrified moments. >> handgun shot were fired. >> he is running get me state police. >> but at that point, the officer stopped chasing the suspect and called for backup. the district attorney picked up the story from there. >> individuals went into two homes we know of which were occupied at the time, they found one individual they left that home and found a woman who was sitting on the porch with a dog, they wanted car keys from the woman, she said she didn't have any, they went inside the home, the woman at that point with her dog left and went to a

neighbor's home. >> the couple was tracked to the home in the 5,000 block of lime port pike. as police closed in, they heard gunshots. teargas was used to get the couple to come outside. they did not, police got inside the home and found the couple dead in the attic. no officers were injured and we're waiting to learn the identity of the couple. the search continues right now for a person who brutally murdered a woman. police say she was stabbed repeatedly and beaten. her partially clothed bead was found on the -- body was found on the grounds of dobbins high school. we'll have more on how the woman tried to fight off her attacker. an american airlines jet heading to frankfurt germany had

to return because of mechanical problems. the flight was in the air for 2 1/2 hours for an 8 1/2 hour flight. the pilot turned back because he noticed the problem. american airlines has not said what went wrong on the plane. there's much more to come on "action news" sunday morning. a local college professor, catches heat for a facebook comment about american otto warmbier who just died after returning from prison in north korea. a girl from delaware falls from an amusement park ride and is saved by the people below. phillies pitcher shows off. >> reporter: thankfully they were playing indoors, 110 degrees in phoenix. coming up a couple of nice days, but could another heat wave be heading this way?

grew overnight forcing more evacuations, officials say the fire has charted 06 square miles near the town of brian head. the winds are expected to die down today, but pick back up tomorrow, unfortunately. hundreds of people have been evacuated from the resort area which is a weekend getaway by las vegas residents. it is said somebody was using a torch to burn weeds. let's go over to chris sowers, a nice sunday in store. >> reporter: monday looks good, tuesday looks good. >> give this man a raise. >> reporter: let's get you outside, sky6 live hd in old city, a nice quiet morning, sun

glistening down. 72 dewpoint of 60. this number right here was all the way up to 74 yesterday at this time. it was extremely humid. that is nice and refreshing. if you have not done so, open up the windows and let the cooler air in. winds are calm, ocean temperature, chilly, mighty chilly, 58 degrees here we are just a few days away from july that for me is too chilly to jump in. 72 at the atlantic city marine. 75 in cape may. 70 in wilmington, 66 in dover. 68 degrees in millville. now, there's still a little bit of humidity down here, you can see the numbers are higher. 66 in dover, millville, 66. that's technically humid, 68 that's getting up there in cape may. all these numbers will drop during the day as the drier air from aloft works its way in, all these numbers will pull back in the upper 50s later on. satellite and radar we're not

tracking anything combination of sun and clouds. could be a spotty shower up through here, interstate 80. perhaps the northern portions of the lehigh valley. upper level low has cut off from the main flow of traffic. the jet stream forgot about it. it will meander over the next few days, it will get closer to the mid atlantic states, as it does so it will increase a spotty shower. spotty shower north and west, better chance tomorrow. as the upper low sits closer to us on tuesday everybody gets in on the act. it's just a spotty shower, but some of us could see rain drops over the next few rains. reinforcing cold front knocks everything out to sea, this is a nice refreshing air mass that sets the stage for a beautiful stretch of weather through wednesday, low humidity and comfortable temperatures.

future tracker 6, combination of sun and clouds, one or two spotty showers possible not a big deal. monday, same thing spotty showers possible well north and west, late in the day, otherwise look for a combination of sun and clouds, tuesday everybody gets in on the act. we'll see more clouds and sun on tuesday, those spotty showers are no longer confined to the viewing area they are pretty much all over. that would be tuesday, 83 in allentown, maybe a spotty shower later on. everybody else is dry. wilmington, 84. millville, 85. cape may, 80. toms river 83 degrees, poconos you have the best chance of seeing a spotty shower. sunshine, 73 degrees nice refreshing breeze, low humidity levels very comfortable out there. jersey shore, low humidity levels, comfortable, sunny and nice, ocean temperature, 58. you have a low risk for rip currents down the shore today. one thing i do want want to advise, apply the sunscreen.

run dreel -- dream tour makes its way through the city of philadelphia. this is a video of a previous run. participants get doused in color from head to toe. ment race starts at 8:00 a.m. afterwards there's a finish festival and music dancing and you guessed it, even more color. new york city firefighters went above when it came to helping a boy hurt in a bike accident. 9-year-old tyrice morris impaled himself on the bike handlebars

when he fell. the bike jammed into his upper leg. firefighters had to cut the bike to help him. they say he was not crying and cool as cucumber. firefighters were so impressed with his demeanor they brought him a new bike. >> i come home on tuesday, i see flashing lights, bike, flashing lights. >> okay, cute little kid there. tyrice said the firefighters deserve a million dollars each. i think so, too. "healthcheck," there's strong evidence that young americans are slacking. a new study says the average teen is no more active than a 60-year-old. researchers followed 12 house young people and found their activities levels were alarming low. children between the ages of 5 and 17 should get 60 minutes of moderate physical activity everyday, but more than half of

back everyone, temperatures today hover in the mid 80s. a nice, refreshing day, 85, pleasant. 1:00 p.m., 84. 3:00 p.m., there's the 85 by 5:00 p.m., 84 degrees, i want to show you guys something because a lot of you have the storm apps on the phone, you like to follow along, yesterday we got into a straight lined wind event and we had tornadoes. future reference this is what you look like on your radar, the tornado signature is defined by a hook, we call it a hook echo.

you can see how it's shaped like a hook. the in-flow coming like this. it's rare you get one this well-defined. generally speaking when we look for tornadoes this is the kind of return you like to see on the radar. this hook shape. straight line wind damage is defined like this, a bow echo. the winds are so strong in the center of the bow it is pushing this part of the return ahead of the two sides here, if you ever start to see this, these are powerful straight-lined wind. just to review. bow echo, powerful straight lined wind, the movement is west to east, the tornado is hook-shaped echo and the movement is general southeast to

trees and power lines came down. >> the whole block looks like a war zone the police said. >> reporter: susan and greg said it happened in a matter of seconds. >> something became louder and we said get out of the house. as we approached the hallway we heard a loud crackle crunch. >> reporter: that sound with this tree trash into a bedroom on stock exchange -- stokes avenue in collingswood. >> the rooftop, the beam is down, so water was just rushing in. still the van meters say they feel lucky they didn't get hurt as many who were dealing with trees and power lines after the powerful storms swept through. take a look at this tree, the wind were so powerful it uprooted the tree taking part of the garden with it. sent the tree crashing into the

back of the home and damaging the back porch and crushing the deck. >> i heard a boom, high hut who was up said get downstairs and we ran down and we saw the tree through the windows. >> reporter: collingswood officials say the quick-moving storm hit hard in small pockets of the borough. neighbors say it won't be a morning they will soon forget. >> my son sleeps in the attic bedroom, i called for him to get downstairs because i thought a tree would hit the house. >> my windows were fogging because i couldn't see outside, all you could see was the leaves and the rain, i heard a loud bang which could be a number of trees down on the street. >> reporter: reporting in collingswood, new jersey, trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> 7:34 a.m., breaking news coming in from camden county, new jersey, the action cam was at the 700 block of baird more

avenue in winslow township. the victim in her 40s was shot in the head at 4:00 a.m. she was pronounced at the scene. police brought in k-9 units to track down the killer in this case. investigators have not given a motive for the shooting. philadelphia police are seeking a break in the murder that stunned even the most harden investigators. a woman attacked and left to die outside a school. we brought this story as breaking news yesterday morning. who did this and why all remains a mystery this morning. jeff chirico has the disturbing details. >> you don't expect to find somebody bludgeoned in the park. >> reporter: families returned to the park outside dobbins high school. the body of a 34-year-old woman was discovered here. >> this was a very brutal savage attack. somebody really wanted to make

sure that she suffered and was killed. >> reporter: in predawn rain police and k-9 scoured the ground for evidence near 21st and lehigh avenue. a passer by found the woman partially clothed and covered in blood at 3:00 a.m. >> she just stabbing this woman throughout her body. >> reporter: from belongings found in the park, police believe she is a woman from the neighborhood. that frightened dana harris who has a 19-year-old daughter. >> she walks these streets and walking overnight camping buses. >> reporter: as veshts search for suspects -- investigators search for suspects, they hope surveillance video offers clues. >> woman out there on her way to work play, whatever, she deserved to make it to her destination. >> reporter: it is unclear if investigators have a suspect in

conservatives, the healthcare proposal could face a vote early this week. bernie sanders says the bill is bad for americans. no audio. we apologize for that, we don't have the sound from bernie sanders we know that conservatives backing from the koch brothers argues that the bill does not go far enough to cut government spending on healthcare. moderates say it does not lower premiums. despite the criticism on both sides of the political spectrum, president donald trump predicts that the gop senators will pass the bill. >> we'll get it done even if we don't have any help from the democrats, we'll get it done. >> soon the congressional budget office is expected to release a report card on the bill that will predict how much the proposal will cost and how
