police and fugitives end with a grim discovery. this weekend many people deal with the aftermath of severe weather, we'll take a look at the hardest hit areas. meteorologist chris sowers is here with a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast and news of real heat moving in. >> reporter: much quieter in the short term, but unfortunately another round of heat is on the way this week. let's get you outside, sky6 live hd looking at the center city skyline. we have high, thin clouds upstairs, the sun is beating through that. you notice this morning the humidity has dropped off. it feels better out there, almost a breath of fresh air. millville, 77. 80 in cape may. wilmington, 77 degrees. here's the difference, all these numbers were up in the low to mid 70s yesterday. these the dewpoint temperatures once we reach the benchmark, once we reach 65 we use that as

the bench mark. it becomes humid. 70 is oppressive. you get higher than 70 it feels really, really lousy, now we have dewpoints in the low 60s. they will continue to lower, it will feel good later on. satellite and radar a little bit of cloud cover kind of sneaking in from the southwest. generally speaking we'll go mostly sunny, a mixture of sun and clouds, very pleasant overall high of 80 degrees. i'll focus on the heat wave when i come back in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> thank you. one day after violent thunderstorms went through the tri-state area, several people are facing the damage that's left behind. >> the storms brought down trees and power lines and damaged homes and cars in new castle delaware, surveillance cameras captured this wild video of the storm blowing through. the strong winds ripped a part

the fence along the 2000 block of new castle avenue. the wood and metal fence was pulled out of the ground and pieces of it ended up in the overhead lines. next-door a rite aid had its air-conditioning unit blown off the roof. this is a scene from browns mills, burlington county. the most dramatic scene was broadway where fierce winds tore down utility poles. authorities say this was the result of a micro burst powerful straight line winds. customers took out their cell phones when a funnel cloud app at a home home depot on route 9. >> this is a tornado we're going inside. >> the national weather service

confirmed there were at least two, ef-o tornados which are the least severe tornadoes. there were no reports of injuries, but the storm tossed outdoor plant displaces around the benjamin franklin parkway -- displays, around the parking lot. a picture taken near fort dix, there is no confirmation whether a tornado appeared there. investigators are trying to figure out who killed a woman in a brutal attack in north philadelphia. the woman's body was found on the grounds of dobbins high school. she suffered stab wounds all over her body. jeff chirico with the latest on the investigation to find out who did this and why. >> you don't expect to find somebody blugeoned in the park. >> reporter: amade -- amid the

crime scene tape families returned to the park outside the high school. >> this was a very brutal, savage attack, somebody really wanted to make sure that she both suffered and that she was killed. >> reporter: in predawn rain police and k-9 scoured the ground for evidence near 21st and lee high avenue. a passer by found the woman covered in blood after 3:00 a.m. paramedics tried unsuccessfully to revive here. from belongings found in the park, police believe it might be a woman from the neighborhood. that frightened diane harris. she has a 19-year-old daughter. >> she walks the street at night catches buses going to work. >> reporter: meanwhile, harris is holding her children closer

as her heartbreaks for the victim. >> the woman was out there, survive live, on her way to work or play, she deserves to make it to her destination. >> reporter: meanwhile, investigators have not said if they have a suspect for the crime. if you have information call the police. a barricade situation in lehigh valley town ended with a murder suicide. a police officer pulled over a man and woman wanted for parol violation in the area. when officer approached the man shot at him. calls for help captured the terrifying movements. >> male has a handgun shots were fired. >> get me state police. >> reporter: the district attorney said the couple ran into a home. >> the individuals entered at least two homes we know of which

were occupied at the time they found one individual, they left that home and encountered a woman who was sitting on the porch with a dog, they wanted car keys from the woman, she said she didn't have any, they went inside the home, the woman at that point with the dog left and went to a neighbor's home. >> investigators say the couple entered a home on the 5000 block of lime port pike, at one point police heard gunshots inside the home. hours later teargas was used to get the couple outside. when police went inside they found the suspects dead in the attic. at this time the couple's identity has not been released. developing this morning, eastbound lanes of the vine street expressway are back open after a deadly crash. the crashed happened between broad and 8th street exit

around 5:00 a.m. one person was trapped inside a car and had to be freed by firefighters. that person was pronounced dead at hanheman hospital. again, all lanes are back open. a plane heading to frankfurt jeam had to turn -- germany, had to turn back because of mechanical difficults. they were 2 1/2 hours into the flight when the pilot turned around. the plane landed at philadelphia international early this morning. american airlines has not said what was the problem with the plane. turning to politics, president trump is shifting his public stance in the russian interference in the election. president trump is admitting that the russians metaled in the election. tweeting since the obama administration was told before the 2016 election that the russians were meddling, why no

action? now to the bottle of repeal and replace, president trump is making a push for the senate healthcare bill. david wright is at the white house with the latest. >> reporter: as the final push begins for the senate bill to repeal and replace obama care, the gop appears to be well shy of the votes they need. 5 have said they will vote no, four others expressed concerns. no democrats support the measure at all. bernie sanders for one campaigning against it. >> this bill is a moral outrage, it must be defeated and together we will do just that. >> reporter: but the white house is playing hardball. >> we'll get it done even if we don't have any help from the democrats we'll get it done. >> reporter: after nevada

a nice stretch of weather heading this way. we're catching a break. all that humidity pushing out to sea. very rare weather we're about to see at the end of june. 76 degrees in philadelphia, that's warm. this number is better than yesterday at this time when it was in the mid 70s. that's a sure sign as the humidity continues to fall. winds off the south/southwest at 3 miles per hour. the ocean temperature in the 50s, it's chilly, hopefully that will start to increase over the next couple of weeks. i'm not jumping in the ocean at 59 degrees. reading, 72. the high in cape may is 82. you'll not climb to which further than that. dover, 75. lancaster, 74. you'll have a nice sea breeze kicking in about two hours. a little bit of cloud cover sneaking in from the southwest this will cross through over the

next couple of hours, once we pass lunchtime, mostly sunny skies from that point on. what we're watching we'll see this counter clockwise swirl, the upper level pattern has forgotten about this. we call it a cut-off low drifting to the east across the u.s./canadian border. it will increases chance of the a hit or miss shower or two. could be a spotty shower for the lehigh valley later today. same thing tomorrow, maybe an isolated shower on tuesday. surface maps reinforcing cold front dropping down later this afternoon ushering in drier air for canada and cooler numbers, lows tonight in the 50s across the outlying suburbs. future tracker 6, nothing more than sun and clouds later this afternoon, one or two spotty showers for the lehigh valley, that's about it. overnight tonight, clear skies, cool and comfortable, temperatures in the 50s, and we get into monday, sunshine, similar to today. we'll start increasing clouds during the afternoon and maybe one or two showers by evening

not a big deal. tuesday if we're going to see a steadier rain out of the system it will be tuesday afternoon and into the evening hours we could see a couple of downpours, even this doesn't look too terribly heavy. once that crosses the region, it stays dry for the next couple of days. after that, this is a sign that the humidity is increasing, from this point on we bump up the humidity and the temperatures start soaring again. 85 degrees is the forecasted high, winds out of the north northwest at 15 miles per hour. lots of sunshine mixed with a few clouds from time to time. we can handle 85 degrees that will feel nice considering how pleasant the dewpoints are. poconos, clouds and sun, 73 degrees. the shore, sunny skies, humidity is kind of high right now, but that will drop on later on.

downstairs and we ran down we saw the tree in the windows where there wasn't a tree before. >> reporter: the quick hitting storm moved fast through pockets of the borough. >> i thought twos a tornado. my son -- i thought it was a tornado. my son sleeps in the attic bedroom, i called for him to get downstairs. >> my windows were fogging i couldn't see outside. i heard a loud bang which could have been any number of trees down on the street. >> reporter: reporting in 0 collingswood, new jersey. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> the storms caused damaging floodwaters this was the scene in montgomery county, flash flooding took over the streets. in upper moreland, the water was up to the guardrails at pioneer and byberry road, a police officer spoke with the driver

stranded in the street that turned into a creek. other drivers in pickup trucks splashed through philmont in huntington valley. pennypack creek overflowed, the water crept on to the trail and the creek was flowing fast. all the flooding is expected to be minor. "action news" viewer captured this scene of trees down at 19th and bainbridge. peco and police and linesmen were on hand. they had to block the road for hours to safely secure the wires and get it all cleaned up. >> 9:34 a.m., investigators are trying to track down the person who brutally stabbed and killed a woman. it happened in north philadelphia. that victim in her 30s was found in the property of dobbins

high school on the 2100 blof -- block of west lehigh avenue yesterday morning. a knife handle of a blade was taken into evidence from the scene. >> this was a brutal savage attack, somebody wanted to make sure that she suffered and that she was killed. >> investigators believe they know the woman's identity based on on personal items found near her body. police hope nearby surveillance cameras will offer clues of the possible suspect. a woman was shot and killed in camden county overnight. officials say the gunfire rang out around 4:00 a.m. in winslow township. a woman in her 40s was shot in the head. she was pronounced dead at the scene. homicide detectives are investigating. a bad crash claimed the life of a motorcycle rider in

newark, delaware. crews were called out to the scene at old baltimore pike at 4:00 p.m. police say a 38-year-old man driving a honda was trying to make a left turn and crashed into the motorcycle. the cyclist was thrown from his bike and pronounced dead at the scene. he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. the victim's speed and alcohol use of the driver of the honda are being considered in the deadly crash. a 9-year-old boy was accidentally set on fire. police tell "action news," the boy and does ten-year-old friend were playing with the lighter on the unit block of south red field street. the ten-year-old set the victim's shirt on fire. he was taken to children's hospital of philadelphia with multiple burns to his body. he is in stable condition. university of delaware

condemned controversial comments made by a professor katherine detwyler reportedly posted on her facebook page that the young american man taken prisoner by north korea and died quote got what he deserved. she went on to say otto warmbier was typical of the mindset of the young white rich clueless males who come into my classes and blamed his parents for letting him think he could getaway for whatever he wanted. there have been calls for her to be fired. university of delaware tells "action news" we find they say comments distressing and inconsistent with our vaults. our sympathies -- values our several -- sympathies with the family. tomorrow philadelphia

their own personal radars. we had two tornadoes touchdown in howell, monmouth county new jersey and micro burst that touched down in browns mills. i want to show you what to look for the difference between a tornado and straight lined wind event. the tornadoes is a hook echo. almost like a fish hook. this is what you see when you have a tornado on the ground. it's rare you get one this well-defined in this part of the country. this is the general idea for the hook as the tornadoes travels like this. you see how the damage here's part of the roof is here, and there, as the tornado spins through, it throws the debris in every direction. straight line winds you identify that on the radar with this right here as a bow echo, it takes the shape of a bow, an

archer holding a bow. it is this part of the bow we see the straight lined winds. the reason it is arcing out ahead of the line, the bow is pushing it ahead of the line. if you see this bearing down be prepared for strong straight lined winds. the damage you see with straight lined winds everything blows down in the same direction. everything falling down the same way. tornadoes debris goes everywhere. strayed lined wind debris goes down in the same section. that's what you look for on the radar. bow echo, straight lined winds, movement from west to east. tornado movement is southwest to northeast. hopefully we don't have to deal with that for the rest of the summer that's what you look for when you look at your phone app. speaking of phone app we have a new updated app at 6abc. a lot of good stuff on that.

"action news" viewer sent in this picture of a possible tornado in pemberton township, burlington county, that picture was taken not fair from fort dix, so far no word if a tornado appeared there. in other news, investigators are trying to figure out who killed a woman in a very brutal attack in north philadelphia. it's a story we first brought you yesterday morning, that woman's body was found on the grounds of dobbins high school. she suffered stab wounds all over her body. jeff chirico with the latest on the investigation to find out who did this and why. >> you don't expect to find somebody blugeoned in the park. >> reporter: families returned to the park outside dobbins high school saturday hours earlier, the body of a 34-year-old woman was discovered here, what may be her bloody makeup can it left behind. >> this was a brutal savage

car keys from the woman she said she didn't have any, they went inside the home, the woman at that point with her dog left and went to a neighbor's home. >> investigators say the couple entered a home on the 5000 block of lime port pike, one point they heard gunshots coming from inside the house. hours later teargas was used to get the couple to leave the home. when they did not come out, police went inside and found the suspects dead in the attic. no sisters were hurt in this. at this time the couple's identity has not been released. developing this morning eastbound lanes of the vine street expressway are back open after a deadly crash. it happened between the broad and 8th street exits around 5:00 a.m. one person was trapped inside a vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters. that person was pronounced dead at hanheman hospital. eastbound traffic was closed off while crews were on the scene,

but now all lanes are back open. a plane heading to frankfurt screarm had to return -- germany had to return due to mechanical problems, the plane was in the air for 2 1/2 hours of an 8 hour flight. the plane landed at philadelphia international airport early this morning. american airlines has not said what went wrong with the plane. the airline is making arrangements for the 253 passengers and crew to resume their flight to germany. now to the battle over repeal and replace the gop opposition to the senate healthcare grows so too, is the protest against it. five republican senators so far have said they do not support the bill as is. when nevada republican dean heller said the bill would be catastrophic for low-income residents of his state, pro trump pac said they would buy
