>> good afternoon rick is off, in the news this noon a multimillion dollar settlement for the family of vester -- phlo castille. we begin with breaking developments from the u.s. supreme court, the justices have agreed to review the travel ban on visitors from 6 mostly muslim countries. the case will be argued in october allowing the ban to take effect with them. only those with credible bona fide rips with people in the -- relationships in the u.s. will be allowed in the county.

the ban will take effect in 72 hours. the court agreed to take on a new dispute between gay rights and religion. a state court sided with the same-sex couples after they accused a baker of discrimination for refusing to make them a wedding cake. the supreme court will review the colorado court's decision this fall. we'll have a live report on the supreme court's actions today coming up in the next half-hour. the search is on for a hit-and-run driver who almost ran over a group of philadelphia police officers. they had to jump out of the way to avoid the car this morning at a juniata park intersection. that's where "action news" reporter, katherine scott is live with more. katherine. >> reporter: sarah this was a close call, police have not been able to track down the driver of the black nissan possibly an ultima with tinted windows police bicycles damaged but the

officers unscathed. officers say a speeding car just missed officers investigating a crime scene in juniata park overnight. >> this may have been intentional balls -- because it approached them narrowly missing the officers striking the three police bikes. >> reporter: this happened at 2:30 a.m., police were on the scene for a separate matter a carjacking involving a chrysler the owner was injured by the perpetrators. as officers surrounded the car a speeding black nissan same barreling toward them at 60 miles per hour, the officers jumped out of the way, but the driver slammed into three police bicycles drive over them. one bike was thrown into a cruiser. the carjacking victim and his girlfriend were on the scene to

identify the suspects in the car jack, but didn't see the nissan but the scene was hard to miss. >> there were 80 cop cars around here. >> reporter: the nissan drove between the bikes and the stopped car. >> during the course of this taking the car off the street and argue carjackers they have to deal with being confronted by a vehicle coming at them in an apparent attempt to strike and mow them down. >> reporter: there are some surveillance cameras in the vicinity, but there's no word if police were able to find any footage that will be helpful to the investigation. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> katherine, thank you. turning to accuweather, it's a beautiful start to a new workweek. looking live outside, sky6 live hd look at that pretty picture, cape may, new jersey. meteorologist david murphy is in the weather center with a first

behind dobbins high school. police are looking for the person who stabbed debra gulliver. her body was found at 21st and lehigh on a path in the park behind the school. police were directed to the area after another person reported being robbed by two men inside the park. investigators into not have a description of the suspect. philadelphia district attorney seth williams is back in federal court for more testimony in his corruption trial. this morning the deputy police commissioner, joe sullivan took the stand. vernon odem is live in center city with more on what he told the jury. >> reporter: the deputy police commissioner had an explosive story to tell saying he responded to seth williams request to aid a constituent as seth williams described it but became suspicious of muhammad

ali and seth williams. the first witness, joe as you s, the chief inspector back in 2012 in charge of the homeland security detail including philadelphia international airport. sullivan testified that district williams contacted him on behalf of a constituent, humid -- muhammad ali of feasterville. he said he was being racially profiled. sullivan testified he had an officer expedite his passage through airport security once and later he was invited to lunch with ali and williams at the union league where he made the same complaints. sullivan said he apply for global entry status. sullivan said he felt uncomfortable about the union league lunch. he told the court the fbi said stay away from ali and told seth

williams the same thing. he said he did give williams that warning. >> i know i fulfilled my responsibility to him. thanks to the relationship i have with the other federal agencies, the right information came to light. >> reporter: sarah what williams sullivan and ali did not know at the time muhammad ali was being investigated for international money laundering at the time. it never turned up any evidence against ali. delaware county investigators are looking for the cause of a row home fire. the flames broke out on the 1,000 block of harrison street in chester. firefighters believe the blaze started on the first floor of one home. neighboring houses stained smoke and water damage. the healthcare showdown

>> after a global air bag recall takata filed for bankruptcy. the company was brought down by defective air bag inflaters that exploded during the crash. it is connected to 16 dents and 180 injuries -- deaths and 180 injuries. most of the assets will be sold to a rival company in michigan. there are growing privacy concerns over a feature on snap chat critics are saying it makes it easier to stalk user. the snap map pinpoints where users are in the neighborhood and includes public snaps what is happening at the user's favorite venue. the company said location sharing is turn off by default and user must change their

there's maintenance issues on the national weather services side of things. 79 at the airport in ac. 78 in dover. 77 on the beach in cape may. not too shabby. you don't see a lot of cloud cover out there right now. there is additional cloud cover by pittsburgh that's popping up and we'll filter that in as we go through the afternoon, but still it will be bright and nice. in the lehigh valley sunny and comfortable today. low humidity obviously a high of 78. down the shore good day on the beach. low humidity, sun, 78 is the high, a few clouds rolling in later in the day. ocean temperature on the chilly side. 81 is the high in philadelphia. mostly sunny and pleasant, winds a little bit breezier as we go through the afternoon and evening. 8 to 16 miles per hour. future tracker 6 shows us tonight mainly dry conditions, but after 8:00 p.m., the lehigh valley in particular and the poconos could see a passing shower of most of us dry tonight

>> hello, again here some of the stories we're following on "action news" at 12:30 p.m. the supreme court gives president trump a partial victory on his travel ban, but wants to hear the full case this coming fall. philadelphia police are piecing together clues in the beating and stabbing of a 33-year-old woman.

a chance meeting online helps investigators find a teenager missing and being held captive. we begin with breaking news from washington on his last day of the current session, the supreme court has partially reinstated the president trump administration travel ban from 6 largely muslim countries but wants the hear the full case. lana zack is in washington with the details. >> reporter: the administration is weighing in calling it a clear victory for our national security. others may disagree. is the president acting within his authority or violating the religious protection with the propose add travel ban that's the fundamental question the supreme court has been asked to resolve. today they said they will larry the case in the fall. the court announced that parts of the travel ban can takes place immediately.

the court will allow those with bona fide connections to the country to travel to the united states. it was hastily ruled out as one of the first major actions from the president trump administration. the rhetoric and tweets used to buttress the complaints by the opponents that it amounts for a travel ban against muslims. but the travel ban is not the only important case that the court is weighing in on. they i should a decision on the case regarding the rights of same-sex couples over turning the decision of the highest court in arkansas. now scowmtion -- same-sex couples will put both their names on the birth certificate. as all these cases go forward there is intense
