alongside of my sister her last moments of her life. >> bitter sweet relief for the family. 18 -year-old bianca roberson, the man accused of killing her is behind bars. the man say this man opened fire on roberson in a fit of road rage. cutting short a promising young life. sunday night, walter perez a big story on action news is the arrest of the gunman who sparked a nationwide man hunt. he turned himself in early this morning and tonight remains behind bars. the victim's family is relieved, but the arrest does nothing to ease their pain. we have the full story. >> authorities say this arrest is all thanks towise, surveillance videos and photos and also good police work. they say they were hot on the trail of this suspect then he turned himself in. this is the man authorities say killed a teenager during a fit of road rage.

28 -year-old david desper is now in custody. >> this is the story of a savage and senseless murder. >> the arrest went down early sunday morning. desper surrendered at his attorney's office. >> wednesday evening, on route 100, authorities say desper shot and killed 18 -year-old bianca roberson. >> as bianca was merging down from two lanes to one, there was a man in a red pick-up truck also merging down. they jockied for a position and he wasn't happy so he pulled out a gun and shot bianca in the head, killing her instantly. >> investigators were getting closer to desper after saturday night. they released clear image of the red chevy silverado they say he was driving at the time of the shooting. early action news was there sunday morning when police hauled in a pick-up truck recovered at a glenn mills address. an affidavit states this morning police searched two addresses,

including desper's delaware county home in the 1200 block of anderson avenue in trainer. there, they recovered the same type of gun and ammunition they believe was used to kill roberson. >> as i said, it's surprising that things like this happen. >> neighbours say they are surprised. >> there was no answer at this trainer home identified by neighbours as desper's relatives, but a message on the door said our hearts go out to the roberson family. at this morning's announcement, roberson family huddled in support the college bound team wanted to join the fbi. t later today, her brother said he had a mixed reaction to news his baby sister's alleged killser now caught. >> i thought that i would feel relief or, you know, excited and happy. i mean, i was happy but then i started to feel down, thinking about that's the truck that was alongside of my sister her last

were tracking yesterday. yesterday in philadelphia, we maxed out at 89 and today in the city, we came in at 91, above the average of 86 degrees this time of year. and the big difference today was the dew point numbers. they certainly were not as high as they were earlier and as we were into the day on saturday. right now in philadelphia, we're coming in at 80 degrees, 77 in redick, 66 up in the poconos. dover coming in at 79. as we look at dew point numbers right now, they're starting to increase from earlier today. for the majority of the day, we had a lower humidity across the region. dew point numbers right now in the upper 60s, lower 70s and this will be the case as we get into the day on monday. action radar showing you partly cloudy and mostly clear across the region. try and quiet for the rest of tonight. the holiday weekend for some rolls on. if you're going to be at the shore, the city or the poconos, we've got you covered on monday. 84 at the coast tomorrow, mostly sunny. 92 hot in the city tomorrow and

in the poconos a nice place to be, sunshine and clouds and a high coming in at 75. coming up, we'll take a closer look at the forecast and let you know what the 4th of july is looking like on tuesday. details coming up in just a little bit. >> sounds good. thank you, melissa. a woman in her 70s was hit by an out of control car this evening. the driver lost control while traveling down the 1100 block of you port road. the car struck a woman and crashed into brick wall before coming to rest by a home nearby. the victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. meanwhile, the driver suffered nonlife threatening injuries. a gas leak is being blamed for a deadly house explosion in lancaster county. a utility worker was trying to fix the problem when the home exploded. in fact, that home was levelled. we're live from the satellite center with details. >> one person is dead, three people are injured. apparently it all started when a resident smelled gas. she called the utility company. workers on scene then evacuated one of the homeowners just before the explosion.

>> smoke rippled from the massive pile of debris where this house once anchored this cul-de-sac. >> conor hughes spoke to us via facetime. he was the first of his family to learn his home had been levelled, even though his mother had been evacuated by utility workers 20 minutes earlier. >> did your mom smell gas at all. >> someone that was walking their dog knocked on the door and told her. so she called because she couldn't smell it inside. and then they came in and said it was really strong outside. >> the home was blown to splinters as workers were called to repair a gas leak. ugi utilities confirmed one of their workers was killed, three others were injured. calling the event travenlgic, ugi released a statement in part, our thoughts are with the family of our fellow employee who lost his life, as well as our employees who were injured. four surrounding homes were also damaged in the explosion. gas to the block was turned off

while crews performed enhanced leak detection surveys to insure the lines are secure. but the hughes family is still in shock. >> we've been there almost 9 years. super random. it's crazy. i'm grateful. >> now, of the three injured, two people are stable. one person is critical. and right now, the gas has been turned off to that block and we're hearing at the earliest, it will be turned back on tomorrow morning. live for channel 6, action news. one person suffered minor injuries when a fire broke out inside an apartment building in camden. firefighters were called to the 3200 block at about 6:30. crews arrived to find heavy smoke billowing from the structure. firefighters were able to quickly get this one under control. a firefighter was injured battling a 2 -alarm fire at south old bethlehem pipe. they arrived to find the house

fully engulfedind flames. the injured firefighter was treat treated at the scene for heat exhaustion. it is now day 2 of new jersey government shut down. governor chris christie has called for a legislation tomorrow morning. he says it's up to the speaker to get a budget through the assembly. he also has a suggestion for anyone concerned about access to common services like the motor vehicle commission. >> so the person who can't get their registration done should, when they go and it's not open, take the number off the sign, call the speaker's office and have them ask the speaker's staff how they're supposed to get the registration. >> meanwhile, the speaker has said the governor's idea do take surplus funds from horizon bluecross-blueshield to pay for drug treatment programs is bad for consumers. eyes have also been raised at a helicopter flying through a closed state park.

underway. an amtrak train derailed in washington state this afternoon, 45 miles south of seattle. cars went off the tracks and nearly ended up in a nearby lake. there were 200 passengers on board. they all made it off safely. the cause of the accident remains under investigation. heavy rains put a real damper on the 4th of july festivities this weekend in new hampshire. severe flooding washed out many areas in the northern part of the state, forcing campers to seek higher ground. many left their gear and vehicles behind just to get to safety. the state has even opened shelt pheres those affected. this belief today after president trump posted a tweet that appears to encourage violence against the media out. the video shows him punching and beating a man with the cnn logo superimposed over his face. some say it's just a joke, others say it's childish and potentially dangerous. >> it's a simulated smack down starring the president of the

united states. well, that's donald trump in his doctored version of the video he did years back. it shows him punching out a man whose face is the cnn logo, after wrestling him to the ground. another logo appears on screen saying, fraud news network. mr. trump tweeted the video sunday, provoking even some republicans. >> the press knows that the united states is inciting violence against the free press. >> it's unfortunate and people are begging the president not to do this. >> president trump's homemade security advisor defended him this week. >> there's a lot of cable news shows that reach directly into hundreds of thousands of viewers and they're really not always fair to the president. i'm proud of the president for talking directly to the american people. >> you're in charge of homemade security there. that seems like a threat. >> i think that no one would perceive that as a threat. i hope they don't. but i think he's beaten up in a way on cable platforms that he

has a right to respond to. >> cnn issued a statement saying it's a sad day when the president of the united states encourages violence against reporters. clearly, sarah lied when she said the president had never done so. sanders, the white house deputy press secretary, spoke thursday. >> the president in no way, form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence of anything. quite the contrary. and he was simply pushing back and defending himself. >> the question, will this be a push too far. abc news new york. officials from chicago are expressing cautious optimism about the decline in shootings this 4th of july weekend. police say four people were killed and 40 more wounded, going into sunday night. last year, there were 66 gunshot victims. so far, it's the lowest death toll for the holiday weekend in chicago in nearly a decade. police have deployed a brand new gun violence strike force which

tomorrow, stays on the hot side and we'll pump up the humidity just a little bit. it's july, by the way. we'll see the picture outside. it's live in hd. we're looking at the commodore bridge on this sunday night. we've gait a partly cloudy to mostly clear sky across the region and temperatures are still pretty warm. as we look at the weather center and take another look tonight, you can see it's pretty quiet across the region. looking at the headlines right now, the heat roles on as we go throughout the rest of our holiday weekend. temperatures will be in the 90s. we do run the risk of a couple of pop-up showers and thunderstorms as we get into tomorrow afternoon, mainly north and west of that 95 corridor, also taking a look at the 4th of july holiday forecast. outside, still pretty warm at this 11:00 hour. 80 in philadelphia. same thing up in trenton, 75 the coast in beach haven. 78 in atlantic city. cape may at 72. allentown, north and west in the lee high valley 76 and lancaster

coming in at 78. the dew point numbers have been pretty tolerable for this time of year. now they're starting to come up. we have dew point numbers in the upper 60s and the lower 70s. so anytime they get above 60 degrees, you'll notice an increase in the humidity and slightly uncomfortable outside. 73, the current dew point number in dover and 58-degree dew point up in the poconos. satellite 6 along with action radar, dry and quiet across our region. we're not tracking in prescription but a frontal boundary will be moving on through. not a lot of prescription expected with that as we get into tomorrow afternoon. that could have an impact for the 4th of july. for the next 12 hours, mostly clear. not as sticky tonight than it was last night. we drop down to 65 in the suburbs and 72 in philadelphia for the overnight low. fast forward into the day on monday. sunny and hot, tracking an afternoon shower thunderstorm. 92 for the high in philadelphia. 89 in allentown, 9 for ring and
