eggs, protein for you. >> all about the food today many of the visitors we talked to are planning to stay at the shore to catch the fireworks tonight. ocean city's show is scheduled to kick off at 9:00. >> in sea isle city hundreds of kids sporting their red white and blue competed in the junior olympics. there was running and throwing and winners got to stand on podiums to receive their first, second and third place medals. >> time for the "action news" traffic report today. it's a holiday let go live to matt pellman in the traffic center. >> you know how this goes on the holiday everything is a little bit funky as we expect people to come back from the shore and some staying for the fireworks and some down for the whole week. things look good if you need to make the trek back from the beaches, 56 miles per hour from the parkway headed to the a.c.

expressway. 20s going into a.c. and that is not unusual. 40s through mays landing. and a crash earlier on the eastbound atlantic city expressway headed to the shore points near egg parlor. that has cleared out of the way. as had a crash in the city 95 northbound side north of the work zone at girard avenue, 15 or 20 minutes ago. the delay is starting to thin still speeds in the 30s northbound on 95 and still just a couple of closures by independence hall, portions of 6th street and chestnut street are blocked because of earlier festivities there. and most of the festivities in the city are on the parkway at eakins oval. that is shut down as is the ramps for the schuylkill to that area. many parades happened earlier but one going on now. watch out for folks marching at this hour.

lets grab the ipad and do the commuter report. crash on the roosevelt boulevard southbound side south of broad street, it looks like you can squeeze by that. >> all right matt thank you. "action news" has brand new video showing the crash that blocked i-76 for most of the day yesterday. a nearby driver saw the car swerving and started to record and then the tractor trailer flipped on to the side spilling its load, and wendy saltzman is live now in middletown township wendy you spoke with the man that saw it all unfold. >> reporter: we did. and the troopers are still investigate what caused the crash and hoping that this incredible video will shed light on that, it shows the point of impact where the tractor trailer flips of and ultimately shut down the blue route for seven hours. >> i'm still in shock it was happening in front of my eyes.

>> victor says for several minutes before it started recording this tractor trailer looked like it was in trouble. >> i said something is going on over here either he is playing around with an 18 wheeler, or he is falling asleep at the wheel. he spoke only with "action news" to describe what he saw and caught on camera, this 18 wheeler swerving lane to lane on 476 northbound broomall exit. >> there was no way to stop it. >> a minute and a half into the recording you see the violent crash. >> i thought he was dead from the crash. >> the tractor trailer hit hard spewing the contents of the trailer in the road and shutting down northbound traffic yesterday afternoon. he and his father and another man rushed to the cabin but the man inside was nonresponsive. >> we couldn't get an answer from him. even though we were calling him are you okay? he didn't answer.

>> he doesn't think alcohol was involved. >> i didn't smell alcohol or see any alcohol bottles in the cabin, i believe more likely probably fall asleep, tiredness probably a long drive. >> reporter: he says that when the driver was pulled from the crash he was still breathing, the state police tell us he is 27 years old and from vineland, new jersey, and sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. i'm wendy saltzman channel 6 "action news." >> incredible video thank you. chopper 6 hd was over a deadly crash in south philadelphia two cars some how collided in the southbound lanes of i-95 around 2:30 this afternoon. one of them crashed through a fence and came to rest against a building. the other car flipped on to its roof. one person has died from the accident and another rushed to hahnemann hospital with injuries, police are trying to

figure out what happened. police say that a missing swimmer has been found dead in the delaware river. search boats were searching for the swimmer, police tell "action news" that the 27-year-old man was found dead in the water this afternoon. he was swimming with his family but never resurfaced his name has not been released. >> a gruesome discovery is sparking questions in north philadelphia this afternoon. police were called to the 30 hundred block of west clear field street when someone found a small casket with remains inside. it was on the sidewalk near the mount vernon cemetery, included embalmed internal organs from a child and the lid appeared to be pried open. the medical examiner is involved in the investigation. late night budget agreement in new jersey means state parks and beaches were open for the holiday.

world leaders are reacting to news that north korea launched yet another missile. they say it was an intercontinental missile and the launch was a success saying it could reach u.s. soil. here is the latest from washington. >> reporter: the united states is still assessing the launch and could mark a big step in north korea's efforts to strike the u.s. >> make marking a milestone,

images showing north koreans clapping and cheering the latest missile launch. they claim it's the 11th so far this year and the u.s. confirms it's it's first ever that could reach alaska. >> officials were anticipating a north korean launch and the latest signifies the rogue nuclear power can fire missiles on short notice. adding to the tensions with the u.s. and north korea. >> russian and chinese leaders are suggesting that they put a moratorium on anymore missile launches in exchange for the u.s. and south korea holding off on large scale military drills. it's important not to overestimate the threat of north korea that the regime does not want to see war on the korean peninsula.

predict the prices will start to creep back up. >> speaking of spending, 4th of july cookouts are costing an average of $73 per person than is just the food. not including the beverages, the national retail federation says that people spend big on patriotic accessories and decorations, some 162 million people will take part in a cookout or picnic this year. this was the 102nd year of the 4th of july celebration in the lawn crest section of philadelphia. families had a jam packed day at the rec center and the fun is underway now. there is a flea market and food court open and plenty of games and prizes and to wrap things up there is a fireworks show at dusk. there was a lot of old fashion fun to be had in berwyn county, and the picnic took over johnson park on bridge avenue, kidded got to play in a bounce house and test their skills with a

thunderstorm has been ongoing for over an hour back building meaning it continues to fire up over the same locations and drift over millville here where they are seeing close to 3 inches in some spots with flash flooding and getting hit hard with small hail. winds of 40 miles per hour south of dover through canterbury, if you know folks heading home on route 1 from rehbo only, it's a nasty drive from parts of kent county over the bay. and we'll see if it holds for cape may county this evening. it's pretty hot out there with temperatures on the brisk of 90 in philadelphia. 88 in wilmington and the cooler numbers for millville as well as dover where we have the rain that has popped up and a lot of clouds through most of the shore communities because of those storms to the west s kind of blowing off the clouds across

and march on they did. bands of all kinds, pipes and patriotic tunes in east landsdowne, this is their 102nd 4th of july parade. everything from string bands, entertaining the crowds to spider-man. look at him on ton of the fire truck. the streets were filled with smiles as musicians brought a lot of spirit. look at this working all the drums there. the annual celebration. in north wildwood even the four-legged friends are marching to celebrate our great nation this is the wildwood independence day parade and the pooch parade. they dressed up in boas, furry ones there to super hero attire. all the little yankee doodle sweethearts marching up and down the parade route and featured bicycles and wagons decked out with cute patriots on board. >> got to love it.

honoring a beloved public servant. despite the floats and family fun along with classic and vintage cars at the parade it was newtown township brian neil that stole the show. for 14 years he served and protected the community and after decades of directing traffic at this parade this time he served as grand marshall. >> this is great and fabulous, a wonderful end to my career here and i'm really enjoying this. riding down westchester pike surrounded by his grandkids and hundreds of people thanking him for his service his final duty as a police officer he begined a well deserved retirement. sergeant mcneil says it's not about him but our independence. >> everybody should celebrate the freedom we have in this country and enjoy everything we have for us.

be this 4th of july and the sand and surf are packed for this long holiday weekend. lets get a check of the forecast. adam joseph is tracking the area and there are pop-ups. >> especially in southern areas south of dover and the delaware beaches and parts of the jersey shore getting cloud cover because of storms in cumberland county moving from the west to east but dry along the shore at this point. philadelphia we look at temperatures as we go through the evening at 5:00, 86 degrees and 6:00, 7:00 dropping to the lower 80s and upper 70s for most fireworks displays. and 8:00, 79 degrees. and look at stormtracker 6 live double scan that is where we are dealing with some of those storms in southern areas, you see near dover and points to the south and as far north as smyrna and millville a dying thunderstorm there and it falls apart as you head towards the shore, we close in to that location near millville and bridgeton along route 49 and in

space x had to cancel a rocket launch moments before liftoff at kennedy's space center after scraping the original mission on sunday the space company ran into a similar problem last night. the rocket software sensed an issue preventing space x from sending into orbit. in italy firefighters had to air lift a cow after it fell down a ravine. it happened in a mountainous area near verona, the cows leg

oval is closed as is the ben franklin parkway, both drives in both directions shut down likely until tomorrow morning. we have a bunch of closures around independence hall including 6th and chestnut. the closures should be lifted in the next 20 to 30 minutes a flat tire on the southbound side of 95 close to bridge street and luckily they got that fixed and all lanes are open there. six different septa bus routes are running and septa is offering late night service on the regional rails to help you get home. otherwise we are on a sunday schedule on septa because of the holiday. and parades going on in glen side, easton, waverly, all have restrictions as the marchers continue their thing in glen side. and a motorcycle crash in bucks coins close to lex greenhouses, avoid callow hill root at upper

tonight most areas staying on the dry side could be a thundershower in far southern areas, most areas looking good 82 at 8:00 and everything wraps up tonight 11:00 temperature around 78 degrees. as we take a look at stormtracker 6 live double scan there you can see downpours and storms in southern areas along the border of kent county as well as southern newcastle county. very wet especially along route 1 along the state of delaware. as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan here things firing up north and smyrna and this is not moving quickly. that is the thing. where they are pulsing up there is not a lot of steering with wind and they are drifting slowly all the way south of dover now lewes, delaware and bethany beach getting lightning and thunder as well and cape may about to get clipped with light showers, northern areas looking good and most is down to the south along a boundary and that
