wednesday july 5th, sara is off and rick will be along later this afternoon. president trump heads overseas before his meeting with vladimir putin. >> and a female police officer is shot to death in an ambush style attack in new york city. but the big story is the fire that took a woman's life while she was trying to save her pet. she made it out of the house and ran back in to get her dog and became trapped. walter perez is live at the scene where investigators are looking for the scene of that deadly fire as family members mourn the loss of this family member. >> reporter: such a sad scene in bensalem. the house is completely destroyed and officials tell us there was three people living here a woman and her adult son and the son's wife and it was

the wife that died and fire officials are sending a clear message to never enter a burning home. >> neighbors here are stunned by the death of a 39-year-old woman that lived in this house. >> from what we heard she was out and ran back in to get the dog and cat. >> first responders arrived and quickly started to look for the woman that ran back inside. >> the firefighters immediately went for search and rescue and discovered a female located in the first floor kitchen area and she was deceased. >> this fire started before 6:30 this morning, as you see from this video smoke and flames were rising from the home and the two other people that lived here escaped and were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation and minor burns. this case serves a cautionary tale revealing once again you should never enter or recenter a burning home. >> let the first responders know

sky 6 hd. david murphy is in the weather center with a first look at your forecast. >> clouds have set up of philadelphia and every now and then we get a break and there are pop-up showers that we start to see show up on stormtracker 6 live double scan i want to go ahead and show you those. most of the region is dry but there are some of those showers down around wilmington in particular and there you see one of the showers highlighted in green and yellows and oranges too, meaning you may get temporarily stuck beneath a slow moving pocket of heavy rain and farther out in oxford, chester county a lighter shower activity. that is also slowly creeping through certain neighborhoods. your neighbors down the road may not see anything out of this and you may be stuck under this and seem like a rainier day than it is. going up wider in lancaster

there are showers that may wind upcoming in in chester county and montgomery county this afternoon. they are few and far between and slow movers. temperatures are warm, 80 in philadelphia, 76 in wilmington and 82 in allentown un78 in cape may and as we look at temperatures rolling through the rest of the afternoon it is going to be warm. 85 by 2:00 and by 3:00 and 4:00 we are on or about 86 that is our high and 84 by 6:00 and down into the low 70s by 10:00. we are a little bit on the humid side as you look at dew points, philadelphia at 60 and allentown not bad. and go south into wilmington and millville. dew point temperatures getting up above 60 indicates slightly humid air and the 70s in cape may and dover it's sticky away from the beach. cool drinks down south. the chance of showers and drenching showers and thunderstorms in the forecast tomorrow.

i'll have more on that with future tracker 6 coming up in the full forecast. now, to a tragic story developing out of new york city where a female police officer is dead after she was shot ambush style in the bronx. the officer was sitting inside of a command post vehicle doing paperwork around 12:30 a.m. just at the end of her 4th of july shift that is when the man ran up and fired through the window shooting 48-year-old officer in the head. the police commissioner calls this is a targeted attack and an assassination. about a block from the crime scene. the gunman 43-year-old alexander bonds was shot to death by officers when she pulled out his revolver and an innocent bystander was shot during the confrontation and that person is expected to survive. president trump is currently on board air force one heading to europe. the president and first lady is

set to stop in poland before going to the g-20 summit. he is expected to sit down with russian president, vladimir putin on friday. the president's european visit comes with escalating tensions with north korea. the launch was capable of coming very close to the united states and now the united nations will hold a meeting to discuss a response. >> reporter: good afternoon, more missiles were fired overnight this time from the u.s. and south korean militaries with officials calling this a united move against north korea. in a show of force and solidity. the u.s. and south korea fired a volley of missiles off the coast of the korean peninsula hours after north korea successfully launched an intercontinental

and frankly that patience is over. >> today a powerful statement from a u.s. official saying right now self restraint is the only thing keeping the u.s. and south korea from going to war with north korea. in new york channel 6 "action news." >> after a mistrial the first time around a new trial date is set for a south jersey father accused of killing his young son. david creato was back in court for a hearing and the judge scheduled his new trial for september 11th, prosecutors say he killed his 3-year-old brendon in 2016 and his trial ended in a hung jury. and a man killed in german town shot in the cleft on the 300 block of west seymour street. police are working on the description of his shooter.

this was the terrifying scene after police say a drive ever loaded his car with propane tanks and intensely drove into his ex-girlfriend's apartment building. the fire spread throughout the complex in fort pierce, florida, the driver was killed but everyone in the building was able to escape through a back

door. >> all the apartments are damaged and the red cross is helping people displaced by the fire. three people died when their vehicle crashed in downtown savannah georgia. they pursued the vehicle when it starts shooting at people on the street and the vehicle took off and crashed into the pole. three people in the suv were killed . an interstate in nevada is reopen after a wild fire spread on to the highway. in a difficult region to rift. the flames broke out west of reno and spreading because of windy dry weather. no injuries are reported and no homes damaged so far. the couple that survived last week's plane crash on the southern california freeway remain hospitalized in stable condition. officers say that they suffered spinal fractures in friday's crash on the 405 in orange

and there is a little bit of yellow showing up there too and these are slow movers they get on top of you and sit there for a while. and stuff in oxford pushing slowly through chester county and lancaster county more cells on their way. look outside we are looking at mainly cloudy skies and clouds with limited sun the way we go the rest of the way the farther north in the poconos and lehigh valley. the temperature now is 80 and the dew point is 60 on the cusp of what we consider humid air and not really humid out there. winds 9 miles per hour and ocean temperature at 64. temperatures across the region, 82 in allentown and 79 in reading and 74 in lancaster and 80s in millville and dover and 78 in cape may. that is where you'll stop down the shore. in the lehigh valley today sun mixing with clouds possible to see clouds up north at times and 87 degrees is the high there.
