outside, meteorologist chris sowers tracking the weekend forecast, the heat wave is over, but don't celebrate just yet. >> reporter: don't break out the confetti and the party poppers just yet. the humidity levels are extremely high. we'll manage a high of 85, 86 decrease. that will break the heat wave, but with the humidity skyrocketing up in the 70s it's not going to be all that comfortable. heat wave number five began tuesday, 91 degrees, wednesday, 96, thursday, 95. both days felt like temperatures over 100. friday, 93, yesterday, 93 degrees. the normal is 87. as we look at the current temperatures north and west, actually the numbers are not too bad, but again it's extremely humid. kutztown 68. media, 74. glassboro, 75. fortescue, 77. tuckahoe, 76. hammonton, 76 degrees.

download for your mobile device. >> breaking in elkins park montgomery county, fire crews are on the scene of a burning twin home. the fast-moving fire broke out before 5:00 a.m. on spring avenue. heavy flames were showing as firefighters arrived. developing this morning an 11-year-old child is latest victim of gun violence in chester. wounded by a stray bullet that pierced through the walls of a home. someone fired shots outside on the 3400 block of township line road. one bullet entered the home and hit the boy in the chest. medics took him to crozer-chester medical center where he was listed in stable condition. police are looking for the shooter, they are asking anyone who has information to call them. developing this morning, new information is coming in about a fatal hit-and-run on the schuylkill expressway. the 30-year-old male victim was struck on the eastbound side at the montgomery drive off ramp

around 10:30. police say the driver left that scene, they say the striking vehicle is a late-model dark colored vehicle with damage to the front passenger side and the windshield. if you have any information about this call pennsylvania state police. it is now 7:04 a.m., this morning a son is pleading for justice after a double shooting left his mother dead. last night he and others gathered for a vigil in frankford where his mom and boyfriend were killed a week ago. >> he killed them, he murdered them period. >> reporter: family and friends of bob depaul and august dempsey want answers why charges have not been filed against the couple's next-door neighbor who admitted to shooting them in the head. police took him into custody after the shooting, but released him he said following an argument with the couple they

scaled the fence and he shot them. determinecy son defended her mom and boyfriend. >> my mom would never climb a fence she would never talk down to anybody, she would never provoke any violence, because she would know she had to make it home to me and my brother. >> beyond why he is still here in this house. >> reporter: at a vigil held outside the couple's a home, friends put up this sign above the growing memorial, candles, and pictures. the emotional crowd chanted lock him up. and then prayers. they asked the crowd to sign a petition urging the district attorney to file charges. >> why is this not being sped up, why has he been released an no jail, why has this happened?

>> reporter: we reached out to the district attorney's office they have not said whether they will file charges in the case. the family members of dempsey have secured an attorney. reporting outside police headquarters, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> washington, the republican-led congress is putting the white house in a political bind. a new bipartisan bill sanctions russia for its interference in the 2016 presidential election. the bill gives congress the power to review any effort by the trump administration to ease or end sanctions against moscow. it stiffens sanctions against north korea and iran for nuke tests. the president those sanctions and opposes the ones on russia. the congressional bill comes after a report turns up the heat on jeff sessions amid new reports about what sessions may have discussed with the russian ambassador. david wright has the president

you. -- older than both of you. >> reporter: we have a case of the muggies this morning. the heat wave will come to an end. the high topping out 84, 86 degrees. if you're not a big fan of the humidity we have one more day to deal with it, things start to ease up in the afternoon tomorrow. satellite and radar behind me not too much going on. we do have one lone cell in southern berks county. we'll zoom into that quickly here. you can see showers and brief downpour around the ploughville area. that's all that's left from the heavy showers and drenching downpours from overnight last night. some of those could be in the form of severe thunderstorms. 77 degrees with a dewpoint of 70. we need the number to drop into the 50s and low 60s. that will happen late in the day

tomorrow. relief is in sight. wind out of the west southwest, pressure holding steady. we made it, 20 days of 90-degree-plus heat. there's been officially five heat waves. on average we see 25 days where the mercury climbs over 90 degrees. we protected 32. last year, i don't remember the number, i believe it was 44 or 45 days of 90 degrees or higher in philadelphia. hopefully we don't get any worse than the 32 we're predicting. 77 in philadelphia. trenton, 72. 77 on the boards in atlantic city, cape may, 74. what we're watching is this little complex of showers and thunderstorms across virginia, west virginia, kentucky heavy showers and drenching downpours. there's another complex right here, east of bradford pushing into williamsport in north central pennsylvania. both pull east in the next

several hours. that's where we'll see weather in the short term. mostly cloudy skies, stray thunderstorm south of philadelphia, very isolated. the main event is after sunset. future tracker 6 is showing by 11:00 p.m. to midnight in that time frame we see the heavy thunderstorms pushing across the western suburbs first, eventually in the city, this will be in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. there could be heavy rains that could produce flooding and road closures, some of the secondary roads close to creeks and streams. a lot of heavy rain is predicted on the forecast models. that will clear out quickly. monday, sun and clouds, maybe a stray shower, that would be about it. the bigger story monday afternoon is the lowering humidity leaves. overnight tonight, here's a look at the risks. lightning risk is high, downpours there's a high probability we'll see drenching

puppy -- golden retriever puppy in scotland is getting a lot of attention. he came out green, it is because of the green pigment in bile. i will fade over time, in fact it's already fading on forest. a baby that couldn't get enough of a cool treat. her name is emma, she kept reaching for a giant cone of ice cream. this is video of emma having ice cream for the first time. as kids normally do, she decorated her face with it. wait until she findsous there's a national ice cream day. houston astros brought out mock grave stones and buried carlos belltran's glove.

handy we're tracking rain moving into the area, it should arrive later tonight. strong storms last night caused major damage in parts of the area. a tree split in half and landed on a car in woodland, new jersey. it tore down the gutter and took a which you think out of the porch roof. >> outside we go, meteorologist chris sowers is tracking the sunday forecast.

thankfullily, chris, the -- thankfully, chris, the heat wave is gone. >> reporter: it is gone, but we're hoping we don't go through a round of nasty storms like yesterday. some of the one coming through tonight could be on the strong to severe side. the storms ripped through the viewing area that came through fast and furious, most of it was north of the atlantic city expressway in northern camden and ocean and burlington counties. lots of reports of trees down, best gosh numerous trees down. wayne same thing. philadelphia, wires and trees down. numerous reports in philadelphia county. medford, same thing, lots of wires and trees down. the atmosphere is souped up once again today. it only takes a system to the west to run right smack dab in the middle of it.

right now everything is quiet out here, burr again late this evening -- but again, late this evening, into tonight severe weather. millville, 75. wilmington, 76. lancaster, 76 degrees, as well. satellite and radar, if you look right in the middle of the screen there, you can see there's not too much going on around the immediate philadelphia area. if you look to the lower left-hand side of the screen, more showers and storms developing across the virginias. another rounds of storms northwestern pennsylvania east of bradford. they are traveling east quickly and getting into the evening in the overnight. forecast for today, that should say sunday not saturday, obviously. jersey shore, 82 degrees, lots of clouds and sea breeze kicking in. city of philadelphia, 855 humid day, stray thunderstorm. poconos same thing some sunshine it's a humid day, 75 degrees is the forecasted high there. once again today is fairly

quiet. overnight tonight things will get pretty active again. i'll be back in a few minutes and time everything out for you on future tracker 6. nydia? >> thank you. a double shooting in north philadelphia has killed one man and left another man critically injured. the action cam was at the scene the 700 block of west russell street. shots rang out at 2:30 a.m. both victims were driven to the hospital by private car. one was pronounced dead at the hospital the other is in very critical condition. philadelphia police have released little information in anther shooting that left a man hospitalized. the action cam was on the scene in the city's frankford section. a man was shot several times at 10:00. officers rushed him to the hospital. so far no word ons condition. happening today an autopsy is planned for a woman killed in ocean city, new jersey. police arrested and charged her boyfriend paul kline with first

degree murder. 54-year-old denise weber's body was found at the wesley inn on wesley avenue. investigators have not said how they died, but said the two lived together. cape may county prosecutor and ocean police are handling the investigation which is still active this morning. another one of the four missing men in bucks county have been laid to rest. the community gathered for dean finocchiaro funeral in levittown yesterday. "action news" reporter, bob brooks was there as friends and family said a final farewell. >> reporter: the line was dozens deep as family and friends gathered to pay their final respects to dean finocchiaro. >> he will be missed dearly, very dearly. i miss him already, wish he was there. >> reporter: that's gus who said he worked with dean finocchiaro at richmond's ice cream in levittown. >> he always made me laugh.

>> reporter: we saw t-shirts to honor the teen and a lot of support is there for his family moving forward. he is the last of four men found buried in the cosmo dinardo family farm in solbury township. after an exhaustive search, cosmo dinardo confessed to authorities to shooting and killing the four men after drug deals had gone wrong. those here said they can't imagine what the family is going through. >> losing a son, 19-year-old kid that had his life ahead of him. if there's anything i can do, i would gladly do it, but i can't imagine the pain they are going through. >> reporter: again, dean finocchiaro 19 years old, as for cosmo dinardo and sean kratz that are due back in court september 7. reporting in levittown, bob

brooks channel 6 "action news." >> the wharton state forest fire is burning this morning, but officials tell us it is now contained. as of last evening the fire in burlington county was raging on 500 acres. the spokesman for the new jersey frost fire told us that it has not hit any structures, but people are smelling smoke far as 30 miles per -- miles away. president trump is sending off a tweet about the washington post saying jeff sessions spoke with russian ambassador. president tweeted the illegal leaks like comeys must stop. he spent the day on the u.s.s. gerald ford.

weather and diminished crop. nora muchanic has the story. >> reporter: jersey peaches are back and better than ever. farmers picking the luscious fruit. >> it's a clean crop it looks good we had the perfect amount of rain and sunshine. >> reporter: that's a big deal, last year because of frost and storms, ron lost half his crop. at sunny slope orchards in bridgeton, peach picking operations are in full swing. >> the pickers know what to pick. they pick the peaches that are most ripe on the tree. we might come back three or four times on the same tree because they ripen at different times. >> reporter: after they are picked they are washed, waxed and sorted and box to be shipped to air supermarkets within a day. >> very, very busy, 24 hours a

from elkins park montgomery county. we've learned a person is confirmed dead in the fire that started in a twin home this morning just before 5:00 a.m. on the 600 block of spring avenue. heavy flames were shown coming from the scene when firefighters got there. again we've learned a person has died in the fire. more information at 6abc.com. a brushfire is burning dangerously close to homes in southern california. that fire started yesterday in high highland. it started and scorched 20 acres which has not been contained. the when it -- whitier fire has been contained. >> time for the exclusive

accuweather seven-day forecast. let's show you the view, live on sky6 live hd, mr. william penn from our temple university camera. he is looking at a sky full of clouds as we have overcast conditions and very humid conditions in the delaware and lehigh valleys, let's say for the next day and a half. storm tracker 6 live behind me, nothing is going on. we have one little cell in chester county. honeybrook if you're traveling along the pennsylvania turnpike, you may encounter this. it's racing off to the east, heading toward chester springs for the most part is on the light side. every now and then we pick up something a little more steady. all in all, very light and should dissipate very shortly. 85 degrees is the high, a day below seasonal averages for a change.
