with the latest from accuweather. >> some of us shut the water off and some of us say what rain? it's sunny all day long. a lot of them along i-95 and north and west here. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows a pretty active scene again areas wilmington, trenton and reading and allentown 300 lightning strikes in the last 15 minutes. we have one warning in the area a flash flood warning until 5:45 p.m. for northern new castle county and newport and wilmington where areas have seen 3 inches of rain just this afternoon. you can see what is going on here. we put this in motion and they don't move all that quickly and it pours over the areas wilmington route 4 and route 13 and swedesboro and gibbsboro, and south of wilmington 2 inches of rain and as we lift to the

north there are more storms in parts of chester county and coatesville with stephy rain and lightning and thunder as well. pottstown and king of prussia, this area is seeing some small hail with some of this hail as well. dangerous lightning and this is drifting to the pennsylvania turnpike as you head toward chester county. what we can expect here in the next several hours, these pop in several locations creating heavy rain and localized flooding and that very dangerous lightning. when i come back we'll talk about a quieter seven-day forecast and when the heat and humidity leaves as well. today ease severe weather caused scary moments. scary moments for a woman in delaware, when this tree came crashing down on the 200 block of atkins avenue. that massive tree landed alongside her home and while some branches landing on the roof the real damage came from the trunk. >> i heard this big kaboom.

and i thought this can't be my house. there is just trees from one end to the other and i saw my car and thought it had to miss it but it hit the whole back end of of my car. >> scary scene and the tree that fell brought down part of her fence and the tree is one of several of her neighbor's trees that came down during the storm. >> we turn now to breaking news as a south philadelphia day care owner is accused of raping two children. police say that 53-year-old duncan round from medford lakes on the 600 block of south 9th street and turned himself in after detectives served a warrant at the fas it's. the victims a boy and girl are both 5 years old. and at tacks happened at the daycare and they are concerned

terrifying ordeal involving his daughter. >> britney law was celebrating her sister's birthday and they ordered a ride from lyft the ride sharing service. it's unclear if the ride service actually picked them up they climb nood a vehicle and the driver took them home. and the driver stopped at this gas station in upper darby and asked the younger sister to buy some water. to take some medication. >> they is in the store three or four minutes and comes back out and the vehicle is gone and the driver is gone and her sister is gone. >> 911 is called and a frantic search for britney ensues be it was britney that ended up calling police saying the driver robbed her of her cell phone and debit card and dragged her out of the car and left her. now they want to find the driver who may face several charges

daylight and investigators are offering a $10,000 reward as the assailant remains on the loose. chopper 6 hd was over the farm park where the incident happened. this property is vast and filled with dense trees and crops in some areas. a 19-year-old woman was running on tuesday at 11:00 a.m. when a man came up from behind with a gun and sexually assaulted her. the victim was treated at the hospital and police are asking for the public's help to find the attacker. and now the beach front battle playing out in margate. city leaders decided to sue the state over the dune project causing flooding like they have never seen before. nora muchanic is covering the story. she is live now where workers are trying to drain the water left from the weekend. >> reporter: hi sharrie. they are still trying but behind

swedesboro along 322. 84 lightning strikes and a constant rumble of thunder in this area with dangerous lightning. we'll continue to see the storms popping releasing a lot of water in a short amount of time until the sunsets. 76 in philadelphia that is rain cooled and so far the high 89 degrees and 76 in trenton and upper 60s in reading and allentown, dover 87 and warmer temperatures down to the south where we haven't seen the rain this afternoon. satellite and radar, you see everything erupting a little piece of energy that is rippling through the at post mere joining with that heat and humidity to spark those storms many as you go into the overnight hours tonight. the downpours and thunderstorms fall apart quickly after the sunsets and otherwise warm and humid and upper 60s and trenton and allentown and reading and down to the south in cape may 70 degrees. as we go into our thursday we quickly warm it back up into the

"action news" continues with the off duty officer that hit at least four cars in philadelphia. and too drunk to consent. "action news" is showing light on a night where there was rape charges. in part to the footage. what it shows. >> and a story all children should see. and what one mother wants people to see about heat stroke about how her daughter got dangerously hot indoors. >> and a murder mystery back in june we found a mother was found dead in her own pool. and her husband was charged with killing her today. vernon odom has more on how police cracked this case.

>> reporter: tonight murder suspect norman long is housed in a psychiatric ward in trenton there for a full evaluation and arrested at his home yesterday afternoon. many members of michelle long's grieving family attended the announcements but only one was talking to the media. >> she did not deserve this and we are broken without here. and trying to keep it together. >> britney mcguire continues to mourn over her mother's cruel fate. michelle long was brutally murdered at her home found in the swimming pool fully clothed. the autopsy found she died of blunt force trauma to the head and tonight they announced the arrest of norman long a contractor. that long -- >> he drove to a local restaurant and upon his return,

pretended to discover her dodd why the pool and guise first responders that she drown. >> and they found evidence pointing to the husband. the victim's blood on paper towels and receptacles, and norman long was the one and only suspect from the day of the murder. on that day neighbors and police say long was behaving wildly and talking about suicide. >> we are glad now that the person that did this is now caught and we miss her so much. >> norman long will be housed at the psychiatric ward while he is evaluated and free to go to jail to face charges of murder one. police in north philadelphia are investigating one of their own for a multivehicle accident. that the off duty officer may have been intoxicated this happened along the 1500 block of north street. officials say that the off duty officer assigned to the 22nd

district hit at least four parked cars after 6:00 a.m. the officer was still taken to the police detention unit for a possible dui. the incident remains under investigation. a construction worker was rushed to the hospital with a neck injury after falling through the floor in center city. chopper 6 hd was over broad street, the 30-year-old man tumbled down the story while working on the 16th floor. osha is trying to figure out what happened. and an effort to take guns off the street in new jersey ended up being the most successful gun buy back in state history. they announced 5,000 firearms were collected during the two day event last week in camden, trenton and newark. among the weapons collected were nearly 2,000 handguns, 1,000 rifles and a total of 129

assault weapons. >> happening now philadelphia lease are looking for a group of thiefs that targeted a popular new restaurant in center city. this is surveillance video from 208 on south 13th street on july 20th, you see several young men slipping into the restaurant through a broken window. and the group made off with the money from the registers that they could find. if you have information about the burglary contact philadelphia police. a mother and her son are both accused of stealing from other people's cars in delaware. state police arrested theresa maher martin and her son. for breaking into ocean view and millville and both are in jail facing charges of burglary theft and other counts. turn back to the forecast there are storms in the area that we are keeping a watch on.

consent. 20-year-old armand was accused of raping a fellow southern california student in her campus dorm room and he maintained his innocence always and now being cleared partially because of surveillance video from several cameras before the alleged assault. in the first clip. the 19-year-old student whose identity we have blurred is seen approaching him and repeatedly kissing him before leading him outside by the hand. according to the police report the pair initially went to his fraternity house but told to leave after his frat brothers told him it was too risky and another video shows the teen checking her into her dorm room and one the girl's roommates walked into the common living room after the alleged crime and found the young woman passed out. they took her to the hospital when she couldn't wake up.

investigation. >> reporter: rick and monica, these are very serious allegations, police say that the owner of sprouts preschool sexually assaulted two children a 5-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy multiple times inside of the school at south and 9th street. duncan round is charged with felonies including rape. >> police say that duncan round operated the sprouts free school and gym here at south street and 9th. today the employees were looking over the children in the still operating day care. round was in police custody accused of assaulting a 5-year-old boy and girl multitell times at the facility. >> it occurred on multiple locations, inside of of the day care facility. >> police say that on july 25th, the department of human services responded to a third party report of sexual abuse of children
