for the police officer. a police officer is suspended after a video of an arrest in the kensington section goes viral. 2017 musikfest is off to a great start. we'll take a look the what to expect at this year's event. >> first we have to talk about the powerful storms that moved through early this morning. the downpour caused scattered flooding in areas. "action news" viewer sent us this video of i-76 early this morning. you can see the highway looked like a pond as vehicles tried to move through, at one point flooding was so bad, police shut down a lane causing a backup that was several miles long. all those lanes are back open. this is an early morning look from our chopper 6 hd taking a look at the commodore barry bridge. there's still clouds in the sky, but looks like we'll be drying out. let's head over to meteorologist chris sowers who joins us live outside with a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast and what to expect for the rest of the day.

>> reporter: good morning, christy, we'll see sunshine peeking through the clouds over the next couple of hours, things will slowly improve. i can tell you firsthand from what i experienced this morning, it was not a fun trip into work this morning. we had heavy rain come through with the cold front in the process of pushing through the western suburbs now. as you take a closer look at it, the heavier rains are off the coast, hammering away at connecticut and new england states up there. we're left with clouds and spritzes and sprinkles. the wide view on radar, the clouds are leftover, as well. you look at the scene, you see the clearing to the west. state college and harrisburg reporting partly sunny skies, the clearing line is marching east, it will get into the city in the next couple of hours. down the jersey shore you'll see sunshine after lunchtime. temperatures upper 60s north and west, low to mid 70s south and

east. the day planner looks like, clouds breaking for afternoon sun, 11:00 a.m., temperature, 76. 1:00 p.m., 82 and 4:00 p.m., 83. one thing you'll notice is the humidity will drop off this afternoon so the high of 83 will be nice and comfortable. speaking of comfort, look at the numbers up here, this is day number two, musikfest in the lehigh valley. chicago is headliner this evening. they will take the stage around 7:30 p.m. the assistance steel steel -- the sands steel stage. numbers drop off 67 degrees by 9:00 a.m. 66 by 10. i'll talk about the comfortable weekend heading this way and focus on the thunderstorms for monday in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. guys? >> look forward to the update. last night's storms brought down a massive tree at the saint

george apartment buildings in ardmore. the tree which is 50 to 60 feet high came down during the storm hitting the side of the building there. 6 windows broke and several ac units were knocked out. no injuries were reported. the search continues in delaware county for the suspect or suspects responsible for a triple shooting that killed two people. police were called to the intersection of south 4th street in colwyn at 10:40 p.m. there they found three men with gunshot wounds. police say ten shots were fired. the victims were taken to the area hospital where two later died. the third is in critical condition. right now there's no clear motive for the shooting. this morning it is unclear if the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian in the city's kensington section will face charges. chopper 6 hd over the scene at east and allegheny avenue. emergency crews were unable to

save the victim who was identified as a 36-year-old man. the driver remain at the scene and the cause is under investigation. 9:04 a.m. a philadelphia police officer has been suspended with the intent to dismiss after a video of an arrest went viral. take a look at the video. officer james yeager picking up the suspect and slamming him to the ground. the suspect hit his head on around inground pool the entire time the suspect was handcuffed. dann cuellar has more. >> reporter: the incident provoked all sorts of public outcry after cell phone video surfaced. it's shows officers trying to cuff a man during a narcotics arrest. a second video shows this seconds later. an officer appearing to slam the handcuffed suspect into the pavement. the officer later picked up the man swinging him around causing him to strike his head against

the side of an aboveground walt whitman bridge pool. the 21-year-old a homeless man was taken to temple hospital in critical condition. >> he almost killed the boy. the boy was not moving he was not handcuffed. they were beating him with a baton, there were three of them, it was horrible. >> reporter: the officer facing termination is 26-year-old james yeager of the 24th district. the police union defended the officer saying the three minute video clip didn't paint the full statement. in a statement, the fop president said we look forward to seeing the entire video and support officer yeager. some residents say the officer deserves to be fired. >> the way i saw it, it was a senseless beating. the guy was homeless and they came and beat him up for no apparent reason. >> they could have handled it in a better way. >> it was the best thing they

could do, they need to get fired, like asap. they need to learn how to get respect from people. not because they are police you have to respect them, earn and learn respect. >> reporter: yeager was placed on leave for 30 days with intent to dismiss. it is not clear if he will face charges from the da's office. dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> we have learned more about the deadly crash of into a pool store in springfield. the driver may have fallen asleep, the autopsy determined that the death was due to chemical burns and fire. >> police are looking for help

identifying a robbery suspect. a woman is holding up a citizens bank on west lehigh avenue. show displayed a threatening note demanding money. she got away with cash. the suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous. if you have information contact the violent crimes task force. a reward is being offered for information leading to her arrest. 2017 musikfest is underway in the lehigh valley, the ten day music festival kicked off last night with the legendary performer, carlos santana. >> the annual event attracted people every year for the music, the food and the fun. jeff chirico was in bethlehem to check it all out. >> thank you for coming everybody, enjoy the show. >> reporter: with that vernon odem helped kick off the first night of musikfest 2017 followed by the smooth sounds of santana.

9:20 a.m., a northwestern university professor and oxford employee turned themselves in following the murder of a 26-year-old man in chicago. the victim was found stabbed to death in around apartment on july 7. the 42-year-old gave himself up in oakland, california. 56-year-old andrew warren surrendered at the same time to the san francisco police department. the surrenders were negotiated earlier in the week. officials near atlanta are trying to cancel an upcoming

for the second night in a row a motorcyclist was killed on kelly drive. chopper 6 hd was on the fountain green drive in fairmont park. the biker collided with the carat 10:00 p.m. last night. the victim a 32-year-old man was taken to hanheman hospital where he was pronounced dead. no word on what led to the crash. kelly drive, two drivers reported someone threw rocks at their vehicles as they were driving. both drivers stopped near st. joe's boathouse where they called police. they say the rocks were thrown at midvale avenue at 8:00 p.m. so far police have no suspects. police are offering a ten thousand dollars reward for the person responsible for setting a half dozen fires at a center city highrise. there was another fire at the sterling apartments on jfk boulevard. it is the 7th small fire in the highrise in the past two weeks. >> midnight, the fire alarms we

you have the option of how to receive the reward. using a cash back card? why not double your effort. since different cards offer higher rewards, consumer reports found using two cards strategically is a benefit. >> you can use a blue cash preferred card to get 6% back on groceries and 3% back on cash. >> reporter: how do you know which cards work best for the wallet. consumer reports has a tool on the website. you plug in how much you spend each month in each of five categories, the tool compares your spending against the programs of 66 different cash back cards that tell you which card will give you the most money back in one and three years. >> reporter: cash back programs only count if you pay your balance in full. otherwise you rack up more in interest charges than you earn
