the rain was falling. parts of our area have seen inches of rain and flash flooding a major concern here as well. it is monday night. monica malpass is off. sharrie williams is joining us and the big story on "action news" is that accuweather forecast. >> let's get right to meteorologist cecily tynan with the latest from storm tracker6. hi, cecily. >> hi, sharrie, hi rick. really rough way to start the work week. storm tracker6 live double scan showing that we had some real heavy rain earlier today. that has now pushed off the coast also that's severe weather just to the south where that potential tornado in salisbury maryland but as we zoom in this is good news. you can see that drier air is moving in. we is it ill have some pockets of some light rain around but that steady heavy rain has now moved off. but this shows just how much rain has fallen. parts of kent county delaware into cumberland county you can see from east of dover through millville towards mays landing generally three to 6 inches of rain just today on already saturated ground so because of that, we do have some flash

flood warnings in and effect. those are the areas in the red, those for south of dover also cumberland county, a large section including millville and we also have some aerial flood watches and warnings in effect atlantic city and wildwood and also north of dover so basically just be very careful if you live in these areas, do not drive through flooded roads. these are some of the storm reports. millville reporting flooded roads also middletown township, carmel reporting close to 5-inches of rain. in hopewell township close to 4-inches and laurel bend in delaware close to 4-inches of rain. i think we all need several days of dry weather and i've got some pretty good news coming in the five-day forecast. back to you, sharrie. >> sounds good cecily. thank you. track today's rain and storms with the 6abc app. get prepared with our seven day and hourly forecasts along with storm tracker6 radar imagery matches -- images across the region. >> a south jersey woman made her first appearance in court

today accused of shooting her wife in the face and killing her. "action news" reporter vernon odom was in court for today's hearing. he's live outside of the courthouse in mount holly with the details. vernon. >> reporter: good evening, rick. you would think they could get along but over the weekend a young couple's life together ended in an explosion of domestic violence. by video conference today, laura bluestein had her first court appearance. a the age 28 she faces a charge of first degree murder in the killing of felicia dormans age 29. according to bluestein they were legally married. this is obviously a photo of them during happier days. mount holly police were sent to their mill street home yesterday after a tip call. they found dormans inside a victim of a gunshot wound to the face. bluestein was arrested without incident. >> count one charged with murder in the first degree t cause of death of fell alicia

dormans by specifically shooting her in the face. >> her prior contact she has failure to appear. >> reporter: neighbors barely knew them. they have not lived here long. >> they were neighbors, always said hi. no problems at all but they didn't seem like that would occur at all. >> reporter: they were friendly. >> yes, they were friendly. >> reporter: sharrie, laura bluestein will appear in court again on friday for a detention hearing but that's merely a formality. there's no bail at all for a murder suspect. murder in the first degree. i'm vernon odom channel6 "action news" in mount holly, new jersey, at the burlington county courthouse. >> vernon, thank you. authorities are searching for the man who injured two police officers in camden and they say it was intentional. the suspect drove his atv into the open door of a police

cruiser injuring a female officer. afterwards the man proceeded to drive into a detective knocking him to the ground. police have been trying -- had been trying to stop the man after he tampered with equipment at a camden gas station saturday night. >> the officer is lucky to be alive at this point. it looks like this was clearly an attempted murder of an officer. he intentionally ran this officer over. >> both officers were transported to cooper university hospital where they were treated and released. >> former congressman chaka fattah is hoping a recent u.s. supreme court ruling will help get his corruption conviction overturned. fattah's lawyers filed an appeal on friday arguing that prosecutors used too broad a definition of bribery in his case. they cited a 2016 supreme court ruling which narrowed the standard of what legally constitutes corruption. fattah is serving a 10 year prison sentence for racketeering. a group of black lives matters protesters shut down a press conference at city hall this morning to make a demand for justice.

>> asking for your -- >> this is the problem. he just told us. >> the men were calling attention to david jones, the man shot and killed by philadelphia police back in june. jones was pulled over for recklessly driving a motor bike. surveillance video showed him getting shot in the back while running from the scene. the officer involved said jones was trying to pull a gun on him as they struggled. today protesters stopped a news conference on a city litter initiative to confront city councilman darrell clarke about the shooting. >> shut it down because we want justice. the family deserves justice for david jones and we're not going to let the politicians off, we're not together to let the politicians run away and be scared and not say nothing. >> councilman clark said in statement today the pennsylvania attorney general has taken over the investigation. he also said "i look forward to the timely resolution of this investigation and to seeing justice for all parties involved." >> phillies fans and people

around the sports world are remembering a baseball great. catcher darren daulton died over the weekend after a battle with brain cancer. >> he was best known to fans and teammates alike as dutch. dalton spent nearly 15 years with the phillies and was known as the heart and soul of the team. he's credited with playing a big part in the phillies trip to the world series in 1993. today his former teammates and coaches remembered him as someone who everyone could connect to. >> i had a hard time last night but i -- i remembered all the good times we had. my buddy is not suffering any more. he suffered for a long time and he battled. he's not suffering anymore and i'm going to miss him. >> dalton is arguably one of the most popular players to ever wear the phillies uniform. today we also spoke with fans mourning the loss of a legend. >> probably one of the best phillies that ever played. >> he was loving, giving, and shared what he had. it was in him. >> he was a charismatic dude. them guys from 1993 john kruk,

lenny dykstra him, whole bunch of charismatic guys. >> medically dalton survived much longer than the average patient. >> health reporter and registered nurse ali gorman joining us more from the big board on his specific cancer. hi, ali. >> hi, guys. i spoke with an expert today at penn medicine. he says in the past three years there's actually been a lot of progress on the research side of glioblastoma. unfortunately it will take several more years for patients to see those benefits. but darren daulton's legacy is already helping. neurosurgeon dr. donald o'rourke says the average survival time for patients with neo -- glioblastoma is 15 to 18 months. dalton lived four years after diagnosis. >> fortunately we are seeing patients out from their original diagnose three, four, even five years and beyond but it's not the majority. >> reporter: he says the

prognosis is poor because of how brain tumors grow. >> they don't grow in a well defined mass. they really integrate with the brain. >> reporter: so, it's difficult to get all the cancer out. he didn't treat dalton but says factors like his age, good treatment and being in good physical shape likely played a role in his survival. former state representative is on the board of the darren daulton foundation. he says dalton approached cancer the same way he played baseball. >> towards the last inning and the last pitch is thrown you're still playing basement i think he made that commitment to battle this cancer until the last moment. >> reporter: through this foundation dalton is also helping others. >> very committed to people, not selfish was. >> reporter: the foundation will continue to support families of people battling brain cancer. the loss of a fan all favorite also raises wearness which translates into money for that research.

at penn they're testing a treatment similar to the one that is successfully helped kids with leukemia. it uses the body's own immune system. o'rourke says there's still a long way to go but he's optimistic. and there have been four other phillies who have also died from brain cancer. dr. o'rourke says right now there's no evidence that anything in the environment that we know causes brain cancer. now, in lieu of flowers, darren daulton's family asked for donations to the foundation. we have information about that on 6abc.com, all of the money goes directly to help other families. >> all right. >> he had been missed. thank you ali. time for a check of our "action news" traffic report monday night. >> let's go live to matt pelman in the "action news" traffic center today. hey, matt. >> the weather around here dam sort of appropriate kind of matches the mood after that los over the weekend. good afternoon to you rick and sharrie and the traffic is not so great right now because of the damp and in many cases very wet conditions out there. had a vehicle that ran off the

southbound on-ramp from 420. there's the vehicle. it's still in the trees. they're in the process of trying to pull it out but that on-ramp is currently blocked as they try to remove that vehicle from the brush. you don't want to be on the blue route southbound this afternoon 476 a parking lot from past conshohocken all the way down to approaching broomall. just one lane squeezing by a crash there. 320, 252, 352 would be better bets. crash on the schuylkill eastbound by the curve is off to the side but still slow as there -- there as well. ben franklin bridge westbound is that especially slow. accidents on 42 have cleared at least we're starting to pick up the pace here on the southbound side. we'll check it again, rick and sharrie, coming up in the next half hour. >> see you then. thanks matt. >> much more ahead on "action news" at 5:00 another twitter tirade from president donald trump. ahead at 5:30 who one now taking aim at online after

. >> back to our accuweather alert now and the threat of flooding around the region. you are getting a live look from mobile6 stuck in traffic at the moment but it has been driving around. right now it's on route 73 in marlton, new jersey. no rain falling from the sky at the moment and the windshield wipers are not on as they get on the move again. meteorologist cecily tynan will have more from accuweather coming up in about 10 minutes. >> mobile6 -- while we're dealing with the risk of flooding in our area parts of texas are under water posing a real danger to people there. crews are working to reach people around the san antonio area stranded by rushing waters. dramatic rescues like this have been happening since this morning after heavy rains and thunderstorms hit that area. >> abc's donya bacchus has been monitoring the situation in texas and around the midwest. donya is live no you in los angeles tonight. hi, donya. >> reporter: hi, sharrie and rick.

there were 22 high water incident calls in san antonio alone today and in many other places the storm came fast and it hit hard. in san antonio, texas, raging flood water quickly engulfed this suv. >> water is approximately just about going over the hood. >> reporter: forcing the driver to sit on top of it until rescue crews are able to usher him to safety. the storm drenching kansas city which got up to 8-inches of rain and pounding down a in new orleans over the weekend dropping nearly 10-inches of rain there in just hours stranding people in their homes and businesses. >> it's really crazy. you can't go out your front door. >> i can't even -- i'm walking in katrina water practically. >> reporter: the hardest hit area tulsa oklahoma where a ef-2 tornado with 111 miles per hour winds ripped through the town. the entire sky turned green. >> the whole house just rattling and shaking and kind of like the sound of a freight

train was going by. >> reporter: the powerful twister blowing out windows at this high-rise toppling trees and trapping people inside restaurants. at least 30 people were sent to the hospital. >> friday's they had patrons in it. the roof collapsed. you can see the roof collapsed on top of the people. >> reporter: the storm system barreling east monday afternoon in salisbury maryland damaging winds from a possible torn dome -- tornado flipping over cars. there were three confirmed tornadoes in tulsa on sunday. that storm system has been mostly flooding. it's now moving to the northeast and the midatlantic region where damaging winds are also expected. rick. >> all right, donya, thank you for that report. well, the city of chicago is fighting back against the federal government. mayor rahm emanuel announced the city is suing the justice department for withholding money from so-called sanctuary cities. the mayor says it's both illegal and unconstitutional. the lawsuit comes after attorney general jeff sessions

>> a wild chase in missouri ended with a police cruiser slamming into a mobile home here. independence police were chasing a pickup truck this morning. at one point the officers fired shots at the suspect who was injured during the chase. one of the cruisers hit a home. two other vehicles were also involved. no officers were injured during the incidentally. >> wells fargo is expanding an internal review of its sales practices. the move could uncover significantly more accounts opened by employees without customers' consent. wells fargo has been trying to repair its reputation after admitting last fall that employees opened 2 million accounts without permission

>> time now for another update on our accuweather alert today. >> meteorologist cecily tynan is here now with the latest. it's been one of those tricky forecasts all day long hasn't it. >> it's been a soaking rain but the heavy rain we got earlier today has moved on. that's the good news. >> that's good. >> it's still damp and dreary. let's head over to the "action news" center center, show you the low clouds still hanging around and we still have some scattered showers but again that steady rain that brought us that soaking rain earlier today has pushed to the east. double scan live showing that is the soaking rain but as we zoom into philadelphia we're not out of the woods quite yet. we have showers along the i-95 corridor a little bit more intense as we head south to wilmington. northwest suburbs still some scattered showers. we've got some drier air that will be moving in as we head

through the evening hours but keep the umbrellas on hand because we will see more additional showers over the next few hours. temperature-wise definitely cool with the clouds and the showers, the stable marine influence. philadelphia 68 degrees. our average high for this time of the year, flip those numbers, it's 86. millville it's pretty cool, 70 degrees, allentown 66 and the dover currently only 72. satellite and radar showing the low pressure that brought us the rain that has pushed to the east and it moved to the south so all the severe weather was to the south where they had much warmer air with the cooler temperatures we just have the rain and if you're heading to musikfest, there will be a lot of clouds, a few lingering showers, a little bit on the cool side. a local band live performs at 7 o'clock. it will be 67 degrees then, by 9 o'clock 65 and 11 o'clock 64 degrees so maybe take a sweatshirt or a jacket. so, for tonight, 66 degrees, mostly cloudy in philadelphia, a few scattered showers but that heavy rain has moved on. allentown 62. wilmington 66 and cape

may 69 degrees. and tomorrow will pay off. just be patient. you wake up in the morning, it's cloudy but as we head through the day, we will see some breaks of sunshine and with some sunshine temperatures should manage to make it up into the low 80's. low humidity. the afternoon should be pretty nice after a cloudy morning. tropical storm franklin was born late last night and this is getting set to hit the yucatan peninsula with 60 miles an hour winds. looks like once it moves into the bay of kampice it could become a hurricane before hitting mexico later on in the week. fortunately this has no impact on the u.s. the five day at 5:00 showing tomorrow morning includes, low humidity a pretty nice afternoon 82 degrees. wednesday pick of the week. high pressure right over us. bright sunshine, 83. on thursday, still pretty nice, 84 degrees. but then as we head into friday, it becomes unsettled again. some showers and thunderstorms popping up, 81 degrees. still a chance of a few storms on saturday, 84 degrees.

>> ♪ >> "action news" continues with meteorologist adam joseph, jaime apody, rick williams and monica malpass. >> ♪ >> hello again. monica is off. sharrie williams joining us tonight. here's what's happening on "action news" monday evening. heavy rains continue to fall across parts of our region and we've got the very latest coming up. president trump and senior democratic senators are locked in a war of words on twitter. what is fueling their online feud. and new clues in the deadly hit-and-run mystery in center city philadelphia. >> ♪ >> now the details as we continue to monitor this accuweather alert. much of our area has seen a steady bit of rain today for most of the day but it's now starting to move out. >> that's right. we are not out of the woods yet, though. meteorologist adam joseph is live at the big board with the latest from double scan. adam. >> yeah, and we're still dealing with some of those pockets of light showers, a little bit of moderate rain along i-95 at times here but the bulk of that steady torrential rain as you can see on storm tracker6 live double

scan is now off the coast of jersey as well as the beaches down in delaware but again a few light showers all the way back up towards the pennsylvania turnpike. low pressure to our south moving away and it did spin up some severe weather in parts of maryland as well as sussex county in delaware. but storm tracker6 live locally here we are dealing with pockets of showers, a little bit of drizzle northern new castle county near the airport along 95 there's a little bit of yellow there, it's a little bit steadier rain trying to pop up here and there but the general trend is to dry out are during the evening hours. flood warning still ongoing. one spot in that red area in southern parts of kent county. where you see some of these greens that is still some residual flooding on roads and smaller streets and creams, parts of atlantic county cumberland county cape may and northern kent county there through this evening but that will improve over the next hour or two as well. in fact those southern areas got hit the hardest near that

low pressure. over three to four even 5-inches of rain in spots in kent county and also cumberland county and the city of philadelphia points to the north and west anywhere between about a half an inch to three-quarters of an inch but again the steadiest is now over and we'll talk about brighter days a head starting tomorrow through much of the week coming up in that seven-day forecast. >> look forward to that. thank you adam. poll numbers and reports that other republicans may be making plans to run for president in 2020. but the target of the most venom was a democratic senator. abc's lana zak is in that washington with more on that tonight. >> reporter: good evening, rick. the president insists that the 17 days that he is spending away from the oval office are not part of a vacation and if you watch his twitter feed it's clear that at least on social media, it is business as usual. president trump launched another twitter war this time taking aim at democratic senator richard blumenthal sponsoring legislation that would protect robert mueller from being unilaterally fired by president trump. on cnn senator blumenthal criticized the president who then quickly followed up with a series of attacks on twitter writing interesting to watch senator richard blumenthal. he was a vietnam con artist and never in utz history has anyone lied or defrauded voters like senator richard blumenthal. back in 2010 blumenthal

apologized for saying he served in vietnam but he served during a conflict but was stationed in the united states. blumenthal says the president is trying to deflect attention from the real issue. >> our national security and rule of law are at stake and i am not going to be distracted or bullied by these slursism the president also railed against the new york times on twitter following a report that some republicans werely quietly lining up the pieces to potentially run for the top job in 2020. among them vice president mike pence who the paper said could run if the president doesn't. the vice president called the new york times article disgraceful and offensive and publically praised the work of president trump. reporting from washington, lana sack channel6 "action -- l6 "action news." back to you rick. >> lana thank you. north korea is vowing. north koreans gather in the street to see the response to

new sanctions. the measures are the toughest ever passed by the united nations against them. the country promised to resip indicate a thousand fold for wait called america's "villanous actions against our country and people." secretary of state rex tillerson is in asia tonight pressing all parties and especially china to stick to the sanctions. >> well, the best signal that north korea could give us that they're prepared to talk would be to stop these missile launches. you know, we've not had an extended period of time where there have not -- they have not taken some type of provocative action by launching ballistic missiles. >> the un security council sanctions against north korea are expected to cost the regime nearly a billion dollars a year. still t-the rogue nation has signaled it will not back down. north korea's foreign minister says that under no circumstances will the country put its nuclear weapons or ballistic missiles on the

negotiating table. world news tonight with david muir will have much more on the un sanctions against north korea as well as president trump's first 200 days in office. you can watch that tonight at 6:30 following "action "action " at 6:00. >> philadelphia police have released another photo of a jeep wanted in connection to a deadly hit-and-run in center city over the week. investigators say the person driving this white four door rubicon hit 53-year-old anne broderick around 3:00 sunday morning. the driver then fled the scene near the 1300 block of race street leaving broderick alone and severely injured. she died a short time later at the hospital. if you have any information on the driver who sped away, call philadelphia police. well, philadelphia police are also investigating an incident involving several hundred teenagers in germantown. three people were arrested when the teens began throwing bottles at police vehicles. the large group first gathered last night near chelten avenue and anderson street for a cookout.

officials tell "action news" that with the exception of those who were arrested, the crowd was loud but not destructive. officers were brought in to break them up and send them homely. >> a person was stabbed outside of the 69th street terminal in upper darby delaware county late last night. and so far authorities don't know who did it or why. according to police a person was stabbed on the front steps just around midnight. no word on the condition or identity of the victim. transit police responded to the scene within minutes. they are reviewing surveillance video to try to identify the person involved. a 13-year-old boy was shot in the foot while walking with a friend in philadelphia's kensington section last evening. happened near kensington avenue and east ontario street. authorities say the teenager was able to make it home and call police. he was taken to saint christopher's hospital and is expected to be okay. it's still not clear why he was shot. >> ♪ from our delaware news room this is patricia nicholas lundy facing felony chest

charges for allegedly using her position as treasurer of the dickinson organ society of women to and to steal money from the organization. during her tenure she opened a credit card account in the business' name and allegedly charged more than $60,000 worth of goods. some of that money was reportedly used to pay for her wedding. lundy was released on $20,000 bail. >> a new jury chosen today for jeffrey sandusky's child. he's facing child sex assault and pornography charges in centre county. the jurors selected to weigh jeffrey's case if it were dismissed last week after the trial was delayed. but the judge has not yet announced a new trial date. bucks county prosecutors have arrestd this woman who they say defrauded her clients out of hundreds of thousands of dollars. police say helene senior ran mark five realty and was

supposed to collect from her clients behalf. instead, they say she kept the cash as well as tens of thousands in security deposits. investigators have identified 14 alleged victims so far. their losses totaling nearly $340,000. senior, however, is free on bail but facing felony theft charges. >> all right, time now for an update on the ride home tonight on our "action news" traffic report. >> all right. matt pelman live now in the "action news" traffic center with the details. hey, matt. >> it hasn't been the easiest ride home so far rick and sharrie, but if you expect an easy ride home then you're new around here you don't know how things go. schuylkill expressway eastbound side still sluggish from 202 on into near the conshohocken curve but it's improving because the crash there is gone. as is the one on the blue route, 476 southbound between villanova and broomall, all lanes are reopened there. but they're still trying to pull that pickup truck out of the woods on the ramp from 420 to 95 southbound in delco so that ramp remains partially blocked. and on the ben franklin bridge our good buddy ben still

out. dreary on sky6 overlooking its commodore barry bridge there in chester. some raindrops on the lens and we're still dealing with some rainfall across much of the area in the form of some light scattered showers so as we go through this evening, those showers will continue during the overnight hours and then as we move forward, as the cloudy start to our tuesday but then it quickly turns beautiful as we go into tomorrow afternoon as the sun returns going into midweek and then kind of a book end week. we start unsettled and we're going to end unsettled again on friday with numerous downpours and thunderstorms. storm tracker6 live double scan as we take a look at this here, there you can see again that steady heavy rainfall, those bright colors now moving east of lbi but back to the west we're still dealing with some pop-up showers here and there but again, this is not going to bring about any renewed flooding threat because the atmosphere is completely exhausted and we're not going to get those extremely torrential rains kind of squeezing out of this area.

so, you can see it's really all along i-95 right now, even the schuylkill expressway dealing with some light showers but there's a pop there in northern parts of new castle county on the verge of southern chester county with some moderate rain but again, it's a very small area and again nature kind of cleaning up her act here this evening. temperatures 70 right now in philadelphia, 70 in wilmington. we only got into the low and mid 70's across the area today. 72 currently in dover and upper 60's, that is it from reading allentown over to trenton. satellite and radar low pressure worked just to our south so that's why we saw the heaviest rain in kent county, cumberland county, southern new jersey where they picked up in localized areas up to five to 6-inches of rainfall but that low is now off the coast but you can see clouds kind of work all the way west into the ohio valley. so the clouds, they're here through the rest of the overnight hours tonight early scattered showers, 62 to 66 for that overnight low. low pressure and the cold front continue to sync to the

south and east for tuesday, so despite that it starts cloudy tomorrow morning, sunshine returning in the afternoon, 82 degrees with low humidity and as high pressure comes right overhead on wednesday and that is your picture perfect day with a lack of cloud cover, again low humidity and temperatures a little below normal at 83 degrees so very comfy here the next several days. down the shore not much of a sea breeze. we've got land breeze tomorrow, upper 70's to around 80 beach haven morning clouds, breaks of sun in the afternoon. this would be the last location to kind of break out of that cloud cover 78 in cape may. far better than today and then 79 in rehoboth beach temperature in the ocean 74 degrees and a low risk for rip currents. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, tomorrow improving skies at 82 degrees both wednesday, thursday continued low humidity. very comfy temperatures. overnight lows in the 50's, suburbs mid 60's in the city and again another unsettled day come friday with showers and numerous downpours and storms of 81 and that could
