plymouth meeting. bob, you've got the full story. >> reporter: jim, good evening. it was really all about quick action. quick action by a neighbor who saw something wrong, called 911 here and got help quick. the home is right behind me. right now police say the suspects selected it at random. it was the end of the road, the final two of four suspects accused of terrorizing a 70-year-old man. their reason police say they simply wanted to rob someone. these four young men from philadelphia all with prior criminal records. >> we think it's a group of four people who were bored got into their truck and drove up to the suburbs of philadelphia. >> reporter: they might have got away with it had it not been for the quick action of the neighbor across the streetcar roll bergman in her morning routine. >> my husband and i were watching television. >> reporter: then she happened to look out the window just as the suspects pulled up in a truck around

8:30 a.m. >> a guy jumped out and he had a hoodie on. >> reporter: next she says she watched as the suspects knocked on the front and back doors with no answer. then they found a window slightly cracked. >> he leaves his windows opened maybe about this much. >> reporter: the homeowner was inside and the crooks immediately pulled a gun on him. >> the first two went in and placed a gun in his mouth and threatened to kill him. >> reporter: when bergman caw the suspects she called 911. the sharp shooter posted up in one of her bedrooms. >> he's all with all his heavy stuff and rifle. >> reporter: the homeowner was able to escape when the police arrived. the two teens tried to run but were caught but the older two, anthony saab tino and anthony ferlano barricaded themselves inside. >> officers responded and approached the house and were confronted hoop pointed a handgun at the officers. >> reporter: after a standoff they came out. they were surrounded with no where else to go.

the homeowner is expected to make a full recovery. he's pretty banged up at the moment. the lesson learned today if you see something suspicious in your neighborhood call police. don't hesitate. for now reporting live in plymouth meeting bob brooks channel6 "action news." jim. >> bob, thank you. a long running neighborhood feud ended in a deadly shooting overnight in west goshen chester county. police say clayton carter shot his next door neighbor in the head at 1 o'clock in the morning. "action news" reporter john rawlins is live in the 300 block of box elder drive. a community like this not used to being awakened by deadly gunfire. >> reporter: well, they certainly had some stress here but nothing like this. two distinctly different personalities emerging from this tragedy. the victim described as an easygoing guy friendly well liked. the defendant described as moody frightening and provocative. among the claims made by neighbors to us there have been multiple police calls to

the defendant's house because of his behavior and at least once in the not too distant past he sat outside in front of his house with a firearm next to him. unnerving they said. tears hugs and red rimmed eyes as people comforted one another and tried to process the sudden violent death of a gentleman. 51-year-old brooks jennings. >> he would just the guy who was always getting people together, never had an enemy that i know of. >> reporter: there was one apparently 51-year-old clayton carter a next door neighbor. these anti-trump protest signs made his house easy to spot. other neighbors say carter was often quarrel some but it wasn't politics but some other grudge only carter seemed to understand. >> we steered clear of him. we were frightened of him because he's so unpredictable. >> reporter: today the unpredictable carter warp rained for fatal -- was

arraigned for fatally shooting jennings. everyings had tried to reach out to carter in the past to calm things. >> we both have to live here next to each other. we have to be friends or we can be neighbors and just get along with our lives and he -- that guy didn't really i don't think wanted that. >> reporter: today carter told his attorney the shooting was self-defense. >> my client says that he was justified in doing so because he was under attack by a knife wielding assailant. >> reporter: he says mr. jennings had a knife. >> that's correct. >> reporter: well, the prosecution at this point real jeckd any idea that this was justified in any way. carter is charged with a number of crimes and topping the list is first degree murder. because of that he is not eligible for bail. live in west goshen township john rawlins channel6 "action news." jim. >> thank you john. philadelphia police are investigating a drive by shooting in hunting park. fire broke out about an hour ago on the 1200 block of west

tioga. police say a man was shot in the chest. the victim was rushed to temple university hospital. the search continues for the shooter. he is 10 years old from millville and has special needs and according to police, he was also abandoned by his mother. she has been arrested. she was released pending a court date. "action news" reporter walter perez has the full story. >> reporter: debra wisler of millville quickly let us know she has no desire to speak with the media. give you an opportunity to explain what happened that's all. >> i don't want my business all out there, okay. >> reporter: okay. >> leave the property. i'm asking you nicely. >> reporter: thank you. the 39-year-old is accused of abandoning her 10-year-old son who has special needs in this wooded area more than 70 miles from the family home in millville. new jersey state police detectives say they believe that wisler left the youngster in the woods with only his luggage after finding out he was not eligible for a youth

program at the base. this whole thing unfolded last thursday when someone driving by saw the 10-year-old emerge from the woods and then contacted authorities. we spoke with barbara todd who says she was a teacher's aide for the victim when he was in that kindergarten and first grade and she is floored by the accusation. >> i was just so shocked because mom adored him. he was her life and i -- i just can't believe it. >> reporter: and people who live nearby say they are equally stunned. >> if it's true it's pretty sad. it's pathetic. >> very upsetting. i got grand kids that are that age. it's very upsetting. >> reporter: clearly miss wisler was released pending her next court hearing. she faces several charges including endangering the welfare of a child. meanwhile the 10-year-old is now in protective custody and we're happy to report that while he was found scared and hungry he was not injured. reporting from millville, walter perez channel6 "action news". >> investigators searching for

the thief who swiped jewels from a store in cherry hill. these are surveillance pictures of the suspect. authorities say the man walked into the jared jewelry store on the 900 block of haddonfield road yesterday just after 4:00 in the afternoon. the suspect was in the store for about 25 minutes. police say he got away with an undisclosed amount of jewels. he was last seen getting into a gray four door suv. senator chris coons of delaware is on a mission to make sure police officers are proem -- protected across the country. easy cured funding for a bulletproof vest partnership. this afternoon coons was joined by new castle county and wilmington police. wilmington received more than 60 vests last year. new castle as applied for 200. each vest can cost more than $500. coons says they have saved thousands of lives across the country. it seems some diners at a wendy's restaurant were charged the sugary beverage

tax. the problem is the restaurant is in delaware county, not the city of philadelphia. wendy's says the software glitch caused cash registers to add the tax to customers' bills at the ridley township location. wendy's says the glitch occurred for several hours yesterday. it has been corrected. customers with a receipt showing the beverage surcharge can get a refund and a free drink. the chain is also making a donation to the boys and girls club to make good on their mistake. the fate of the controversial dunes project in margate could be decided tomorrow. army corps of engineers has filed a petition with the court asking to be able to resume their work. last week a federal judge ordered a one week injunction. heavy rain yesterday caused another huge moat to form in front of beach block homes. the standing water is now blocking access to some of the beaches. aloe blacc takes the main stage tonight at musikfest in

seafood farmers in january when john found these tanks. >> we googled a lot and a lot of time and effort in learning about shrimp. it company trucks in salt water from the barnegat bay which are filtered oxygenated heated to 83 degrees and monitored every hour. >> see them coming in tinier than a mosquito larvae and then four, five months later develop into this. it's pretty nice. >> reporter: when you think of farming you typically picture crops and fields well shrimp farming is a completely different ball game and the folks here have learned a few things along the way. >> there's the food. >> reporter: the shrimp are there is a parent. he can see their insides and what they had for lunch. and those eyes be grateful the heads come off when they're cooked. who wants that looking back at you from your plate of scampi. >> we're the only provider of fresh true in new jersey and there's only two or three in the country. >> reporter: no frozen shrimp here.

blue skies and sunshine, still some fair weather cumulus clouds around and temperatures comfortably cool, really not typical august weather. average high for this time of the year is 86. philadelphia today we hit 80. currently temperatures across-the-board holding near 80. philadelphia 79, allentown 80 degrees. atlantic city airport 79. and cape may 76. so, if you're heading out tonight, if you have any activities, it's looking really, really nice. temperatures will be holding in the upper to mid 70's in the evening hours as we head through the overnight hours, we'll be dropping into the 60's and the poconos tonight temperatures could actually drop into the 40's. the satellite and action radar showing yes, we had a lot of clouds to start the day but sunshine breaking out in the afternoon and now just a few high thin clouds right along the coast but high pressure is doing its job and that means tonight skies will be clear. there will be moonlight. we're coming off a full moon. 63 in philadelphia allentown 54, cape may 64 and wilmington 60 degrees.

the day planner tomorrow doesn't get much better than this. high pressure right over us, low humidity, sunshine and temperatures again slightly cool for this time of the year. we start off at 64 degrees. at 7 o'clock, we're up to 80 degrees by 1 o'clock. temperatures climbing up into the low 80's about 3 degrees below normal, holding in the low 80's as we head into the evening. if you're down the shore tomorrow plenty of sunshine. we will be getting a bit of a sea breeze kicking up in the afternoon. ocean temperature 73 so the air temperature beach haven 79 degrees, atlantic city 78, ocean city the same 78 and bethany breach 80 degrees. nice day down the shore. hopefully we get this kind of weather on monday august 21st. two weeks from tomorrow this is when we get the total solar eclipse. it passes through 12 states from oregon to south carolina. it happens really quickly. 90 minutes to cross the u.s. and the last time we had a total solar eclipse in the u.s. was 1979. the last time it was coast to
