and i preliminary hearing continues now for the februarys of i penn state fraternity charged in a deadly case of hazing. and now the suspect facing attempted homicide charges after setting an officer on fire. police say that jerry jones was the man that threw a homemade explosive device causing second degree burns. katherine scott is live now where the suspect was in court this morning. >> reporter: rick, that is right. the judge set bail at $1 million cash for jeremy jones, he told police in an interview he knew police was at the door and wanted them to go away. as for the injured sheriffs deputy and a part-time officer with the ridley parks department. he is in the hospital in good spirits and anxious to get home. 39-year-old jeremy jones was

probation violation warrant. and knocked on the door multiple times and said they were from the sheriff's department but nobody answers. as they were walking away jones threw a fire bomb at the sergeant's feet. >> the coward from behind a closed door opened it and threw a bomb. a bomb at unsuspecting young men who were doing their job keeping the streets clean and keeping them safe. how do you defend yourself when a bomb is thrown at you? you can't. >> six more combustibles were found in the home. and a neighbor came to show support for her neighbor. >> i think he has mental problems and i think that is what triggered it. >> jones remains in custody, his next court date is august 22nd and the judge ordered a competency evaluation before

then. katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. two lanes of 295 southbound are closed near the delaware memorial bridge that is where police are trying to clear a crash with an overturned tractor trailer. traffic is backed up for miles and the truck driver's injuries are minor be does not require a transport to the hospital. officials have not said what the truck was carrying. the investigation continues into the discovery of a body in bucks county. police are following leads after they found a body in washington crossing on river road. they made the discovery tuesday night after responding to a 911 call. authorities brought in a dive team to search for evidence in the river. they have not yet released a cause of death. police are rested a suspect in the overnight home invasion on the overbrook section on east mown airy avenue. police say the man broke into a

news." >> back here 16 members of a penn state fraternity accused in a deadly hazing case are back in a centre county courtroom now. the hearing resumed to determine it there is enough evidence to send the case to trial. 19-year-old timothy piazza after falling several times during a night of drinking, some face charges of involuntarily manslaughter and assault and others face evidence tampering, hazing and reckless endangerment and alcohol offenses. a large scrap yard blaze was under control in bucks county as firefighters worked through the night. the fire broke out at sims metal management. crews had to bring in water tankers to fight the water and remain on the scene putting out hot spots, the cause of the blaze is still under investigation. after two weeks of training camp, the eagles are ready to face the packers in green bay.
