intersection. katherine scott is live outside of the hospital with the latest. >> reporter: rick, that is right, medics took the victim to einstein medical center and he was rushed into surgery and remains here at the hospital in critical condition and the investigation into the motive in this case is underway. >> gunshots in somerdale late last night, a 24-year-old driver hit multiple times. >> i heard shots one after the other. >> numerous 911 calls came in for the shooting. witnesses told police that the 24-year-old victim was driving his volvo south on so manierdale he was stopped when a white vehicle going north pulled up next to him and the driver fired multiple shots from the window into the victim's car. there is a shot mark on the

smashed into a fire hydrant, this is the 3900 block of woodland avenue in the university section of philadelphia. you can see a lot of muddy water there on the streets and the car we are told is already towed away and no word of injuries, the water department is on the scene responding and the street is blocked off and again, a driver smashed into a fire hydrant just a few moments ago on the 3900 block of woodland avenue. there is damage to the roadway in the middle of cure screen and a lot of muddy water following a crash here. we are following the story and we'll bring you more information. but again that broken hydrant has caused water to spew from the broken pipe and damaged the street. this is 3900 block of woodland avenue. we'll keep an eye on this situation and bring you more information. in other news police have arrested a shooting suspect after he barricaded himself in a

west philadelphia home. on walton avenue, ran into a house and refused to come out. after a standoff that lasted more than 30 minutes, the police were able to take the suspect into custody. the victim was a 54-year-old man that suffered a graze wound to the shoulder. a preliminary hearing for a penn state hazing case continues for a fifth day. and the judge has to decide if there is enough evidence to send 16 members of the fraternity to trial in the death of timothy piazza. he fell down the steps after a night of drinking. two defendants waived the hearing. on the weather front it's turning humid for your friday with the threat of showers for the weekend. as we look live outside sky 6 hd showing you the jersey shore a cloudy day in cape may. melissa magee is in the weather
