headquarters tonight. dan? >> jim, for the second time this week, police were responding to a crime in progress and shot a suspect. this time the man was killed following a violent altercation. >> a peanut vendor was startled by gunfire. >> it sounded like firecrackers. we sent the kids inside. >> tyrese carlisle was dead at the area hospital. his own mother called police saying he was trying to steal her car. >> a struggle ensued. the officer radioed for backup. backup officers arrived and told the man to let go of the gun. >> he let go of the gun but he

grabbed officer two's gun. >> all three officers discharged striking the male several times along the left side of the body. >> he did have the gun. >> carlisle's sister says her brother had mental issues. >> why would they shoot him down like a dog like that. they could have shot him in his leg. >> the thing was, my aunt, his mom, was saying that he had mental issues. >> the matter is under investigation. sources say carlisle had a long rap sheet involving guns. >> jim? >> thank yous, dan.

police are trying to locate the man that opened fire at a target store. ger chirico has the latest on this. >> jim, this could have been so much worse. it was the middle of the afternoon. the store was packed with shoppers when a gunman opened fire striking one man in the back. >> you saw the guy shot and fell to his knee it is. >> that's what some shoppers saw outside the target on bustleton avenue. bullet casings show where one man was shot in the back. >> four or five males were in a fistfight. some fired at least once. >> you heard five or six gunshots. everybody started running. >> it happened at 3:30 while jasmine robertson and her two month old son were feet from the front door.

>> what did you do? >> i ran with him. >> fearing an active shooter, target employees ushered shoppers to the rear of the store. we went to a conference room. it was scary. >> we didn't know who it was or what was going on. we didn't know if we should sayy in the store or leave the store. >> shoppers that were evacuated we are questioned and returned to their cars. >> there is a shooter on the loose? >> yes. we are asking for public's assistance. >> police are reviewing the target surveillance cameras. shoppers are left on edge but counting their blessings. >> it's scary. there were babies. anyone could have been walking out the door and got shot. >> as you can imagine, the store remained closed for the rest of the day.

deal. he originally said his girlfriend's child choked on a hotdog but the back of the child's head was fractured. >> police are on the look for a band it who they say stole opioids from behind a counter. the hold up happened at the murray pharmacy on the 3200 block of west state street robbed back in may. that suspect was apprehended. >> these are uncertain times for the kepra charter school in north philadelphia. the landlord threatened to evict the school because it's behind on its rent. the school closed down a week early in the spring and with teachers fleeing the ship, hearings are under way to revoke
