"action news" learned two people were shot by chester police. it started as a shootout between two men another another man outside the gold room bar. police say the men in the did your durango shot at the officers

when they arrived. both officers fired shots at the durango. a chase ensued and the car crashed. all three men are in the hospital. >> we turned to the deadly violence that erupted in charlottesville, virginia. it is the largest gathering of white nationalists in a decade. the group battled counter protesters in the street. 19 others were injured, some critically. this morning some are saying president donald trump needed to react more quickly and more strongly and more specifically. abc meghan hughes has more. >> reporter: overnight the charlottesville community holding a vigil for healing this after a day of panic and chaos in the streets. car plowing through a crowd of counter protesters. killing a 32-year-old woman sending 19 to the hospital. >> hit two or three other cars

and pinned people between the cars and smashed into people. >> reporter: the driver 20-year-old white male from ohio. it capped off a weekend of hatred and violence in the city, white nationalists swinging torches friday. the violence escalated saturday as white supremist and the protesters clashed. two troopers died in a helicopter crash as they were assisting public safety. foul play is not suspected. president trump speaking to the nation denouncing the violence. >> we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred and bigotry and violence on many sides. the governor of the state of virginia said he did have a message. >> i have a message for all the white supremist and the nazi who

county this morning, is an all too common occurrence. the city is on pace to pass last year's number of homicide. christie ileto has the growing crisis. >> we're tired of it. >> reporter: frustration grows as the violence in the city of chester becomes the norm. a handful of people were shot across the city, three of the shootings in 24 hours. this is the community activist. >> drugs is playing a role. turf things people don't own are playing a role. you know retaliation. >> reporter: home to 21 murders so far this year, chester is on pace to eclipse last year's 26 total number of homicide.

program to track the guns used in the violence crimes they are hoping to get state funding for that. christie ileto channel 6 "action news." >> 7:13 a.m., a young mother said thank you to the police officers who were able to get her to a life saving transplant. she had 90 minutes to get from long island to manhattan to receive a new liver and kidney back on june 26. she knew traffic would be bumper to bumper, she ran to her local police department, officers sprang into action and put her in a helicopter and and they escorted her to the hospital. >> they saved me and gave me a chance to be okay for my kids. i can never repay that. >> the medic, the pilot and the officer were all named this month's nasau county's top cop. >> that's a great story.

now we're gathering details about breaking news out of chester, delaware county. two men in a vehicle have been shot by chester police. the suspects are accused of shooting a man outside a bar on edgemont street and opening fire on responding officers who returned fire and shot the men. there was a short chase. the car eventually crashed. right now the two men in that vehicle and a third man shot there, all in the hospital. we'll keep you posted. >> 7:30 turning to accuweather now, the rain has moved out. we're ending the weekend on a

country. a confrontation between white nationalists and counter protesters led to three deaths including a woman who was run down and killed on the street. one suspect is in custody. police say he drove drove his car into the counter protesters at white nationalist rally killing one and injuring 19 others. the person has been identified as james alex fields of ohio. two virginia state police officers died in a helicopter crash while assisting with public safety efforts. president trump denounced the violence, but did not condemn the white supremist, but the mayor of charlottesville and others did. >> the tide of hatred and intolerance and bigotry that has come to us, that marched down with tortures of the lawn of one of the founders of democracy is brought here about our outsider,

morning. firefighters found flames shooting from the building at north 25th and dolphin streets around 1:25 a.m. no injuries were reported. the philadelphia fire marshal is investigating. a 911 call led police to a shooting victim in north philadelphia. the 52-year-old man was found lying on the 2400 block of north 20th street. he suffered gunshot wounds to his back and thigh and taken to the hospital in critical condition. police have not made any arrests. this morning an accused shoplifter is dead. police i say he drown trying to make his getaway in woodbury, new jersey. bob brooks has the details. >> reporter: it was a tragic scene rescue seems removed the body of a 20-year-old man. police say it was the result of a shoplifting incident escalating. it started at 4:00 a.m. 20-year-old was spotted shoplifting from the wawa yards up the street.
