charlottesville violence on our 6abc app. in other news, homicide detectives are combing for evidence in south philadelphia after two people were found dead inside a first floor apartment. police discovered the bodies of a man in his 50s and a woman in her 20s late last night on the 100 block of federal street. katherine scott is standing by live with the latest on the investigation. katherine. >> reporter: rick, we just expoak with family members -- spoke with family members of one of the victims they say the 50-year-old and his 23-year-old girlfriend kate lived here together raising his son. what happened here remains under investigation. >> he was to full of life. if he could give you his socks off his feet he would. >> reporter: seen here in his facebook photo was a single father who lost his brother to gun violence at the same south

philadelphia address. late last night he and his girlfriend were found dead in the apartment on the 1300 block of federal. >> she came into his life about a year ago and became a stepmother to his son. she had great energy, too, they just tried, but on this day, god wanted him, he had a better plan for them. >> reporter: neighbors woke up to police activity stunned at what occurred. >> i look out the window i saw the coroner. >> reporter: homicide detectives were on scene for hours gathering evidence. >> the two people were found by a family member who lives on the second floor apartment. when family member went downstairs to check on them, they discovered the bodies laying on the floor in separate rooms. >> reporter: both were

pronounced dead before midnight. they were assaulted, sources say something was found around their necks. >> we're not certain of the cause of death, but both bodies have bruises to their face and there's blood around their bodies, the property appears to have been ransacked. >> reporter: and family members say gonzalez's son was not in the apartment at the time this happened, no word from police there are any suspects in the case. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." sarah. katherine, thank you. a new jersey man is accused of killing his girlfriend in hamilton, mercer county. 38-year-old daniel torres junior was arrested after jennifer beer was shot to death in the couple's apartment in south olden avenue. torres is facing charges of murder and animal cruelty. philadelphia police are looking for the person who shot four men near a large block party.

the gunfire broke out at 39th and mellon streets in mantua. a 24-year-old was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. the three other victims, an 18-year-old an two 21-year-olds are expected to survive. a 5th person was startled, but not injured when bullets flew through the winds shield of his car. looking outside, sky6 live hd showing us penns landing, more clouds moving in, not a bad day at lunch time. meteorologist david murphy is in the weather center with a check on the forecast. welcome back, david. >> reporter: nice to be back. the clouds have progressed across the region we're seeing showers come in closer, in fact i want to bring in storm tracker 6 live double scan show you to the west of philadelphia. there are a couple of light nuisance showers some of them clipping areas around dover, delaware, others in lancaster county. it's possible that the initial push of this will not be all that successful in the region. through the afternoon i'll allow for light sprinkles and showers

20-year-old wisconsin woman died in january. it is believed they drank alcohol contaminated with other chemicals. investigation is underway at a racetrack in wisconsin after three men were shot to death at pointblank range. the victims from illinois were killed near a concession stand in milwaukee. all three were known gang members and may have been targeted by a rival. investigators are looking for the suspect. >> lawyers are expected to make closing arguments today in the legal showdown between taylor swift and former radio deejay. david muller was fired because of touching her inappropriately. swift is countering suing muller for a goalic one dollar penalty. evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes

the stories we're following on "action news" at 12:30, bullets fly overnight in the philadelphia mantua section leaving four people wounded. we have the latest. a man accused of plowing a car into a crowd during race filled clashes in charlottesville appears in court this morning. investigator robert muller is zeroing in on the president inner circle. four people were shot at a mantua section when a party was breaking up down the block. walter perez has the details. walter. >> reporter: hi, sarah officers from the 16th district were working security at that neighborhood block party and despite that dozens of shots rang out at the intersection as

you mentioned four people were wounded, one remains hospitalized in critical condition. the shooting occurred just after midnight as a block party was breaking up about a block away. cynthia young lives feet away from the site of the shooting. she said what was a quiet night in this part of mantua ended in a hail of gunshots. >> pop pop pop pop pop pop pop, that's all i heard, i wouldn't get up. >> reporter: in fact investigators say they ended up recovering 31 spent shell casings near the intersection of 39th and mellon street. authorities say four people suffered gunshot wounds. >> an 18-year-old who was shot in the lower back. 21 shot in the arm, a 24-year-old shot multiple times. >> reporter: the 4th victim turned up later at a nearby hospital. the gunman reportedly fled in a vehicle and remains on the loose at this hour. >> reporter: now, fortunately
