philadelphia cloaked in clouds. it's tuesday afternoon and i'm brian taff. >> i'm sharrie williams, the big story is the weather we have had with heavy downpours on often all day. adam joseph is live at the big board with the latest from accuweather. >> we have clouds and steady showers at times and the tremendous humidity out there. kind of weighing on all of us throughout the day and stormtracker 6 live double scan shows the most of the heavier rain is sliding to the south and east of philadelphia all along a boundary of ripples of energy pushing in from the southwest to the north and east. as we close in closer here in and around philadelphia scattered light drizzle and still pops of of moderate rain in central parts of delaware, no lightning from bay side, smyrna, no bridgeton and elmer is dealing with steady rainfall along 55 as well as 42. anz we head to the east we see this wall of green along the shore.

developing news from atlantic city where a bizarre discovery led authorities to shut down a motel. investigators found an alligator in the pool of the suites. what are investigators saying about this? >> reporter: well, it's hard to say because investigators are not talking at this point but talking to residents here a peculiar story. a no knock raid, they came in and raided the entire aging motel here and took a number of people down to a local school and there representatives from the county prosecutors questioned them and we reached out to the prosecutors office and they have not yet responded. but most people did come back, but that raid that literally knocked doors off their hinges led to the shut down of this building. >> the sign says that the fading

roadside motel. the bay view hotel and suites sun fit for habitation today. an estimated 20 to 40 residents are put out and they are scrambling to find them temporary shelter for the evening. in the wake of the early morning law enforcement raid that resulted in doors here being damaged and unuseable. off camera a resident told us that the bay view's days were numbered prior to the raid it was due to close august 31st. besides people that had to be relocated. there were several dogs and 2 to 3 foot central america gator. >> they are native to the southern united states, you'll find them from north carolina along the coast all the way around florida into texas. >> he looks pretty good he has

some off growth of the tooth that could be genetic or just an injury that caused his teeth to grow back in a strange angle. >> well, that was a representative of the cape may county zoo. the new home of the little gator, one resident told us the gator was if the pool for the better part of a month when the owner left the state of new jersey. people could often go by and throw chicken and stuff in there so the gator could eat. channel 6 "action news." >> all right, something you don't see every day thank you. a $15,000 reward is offered to help solve an attempted arson that targeted city vehicles in philadelphia. you see the suspect entering a southwest philadelphia parking garage last wednesday and police say he doused the garage with flammable liquid and tried but failed to burn several streets department vehicles and at one point he left the facility on

woodland avenue and came back with a baby stroller and a white sheet covering his body. if you recognize the man or know anything about this crime contact philadelphia police. "action news" has new information about a dice game that turned deadly in west philadelphia. police say that 23-year-old was shot in the head during an argument with another man. chopper 6 hd was overhead at 9:30 as officers responded to the 5800 block of christian street. the victim's young children ages 2 and 5 were there to witness the violence. no arrest ares have been made but detectives found a gun at the scene. 50 people were forced ott of their homes overnight as a massive fire swept through. this was the scene at the canterbury court apartments. the brick building bellies the e accident of the damage inside. look at the flames when

firefighters got there. it took 80 firefighters about han hour to get this under control. >> out of a dead sleep, fire alarms and looked out and the building was on fire. we went back and in grabbed the animals. >> one firefighter was treated for injuries and two residents were hurt but it's not clear how badly and the fire marshall is still investigating is the cause. to allentown where police are searching for multiple suspects after a man was gunned down right in front of his young daughter. walter perez spoke with the victim's girlfriend this afternoon and joins us now with their story. >> reporter: so far one person is arrested. and three others remain on the loose as loved one grieve a senseless death of a loving father. >> johnny curtis says that the murder of her boyfriend. jermaine taylor of allentown is more than she could take. >> he was warm and caring and

giving -- >> it was early sunday morning. witnesses say that four armed intruders burst their way into taylor's lyndon street apartment where he lived with his 8-year-old daughter, according to documents, those witnesses heard them say show me the money before the gun fire erupted. they found taylor's daughter weeping by her father's body. she said that taylor was like a son to her and now the concern is the well being of taylor's daughter. >> send prayers for her. to heal her soul and her mind. investigators discovered shell casings from different guns and they believe that a bullet struck an intruder. the blood trail led to the home of isaac -- and is since arrested with homicide and

robbery. now the search for the three remaining suspects continues, taylor's family are mourning the lots of a man described as a hard worker. >> he overcame homelessness and everything. and trying to make his way for him and his daughter. >> why are they killing each other. why can't we realize everybody's hand doesn't need a gun in it. >> the remaining suspects are described as two young men and a young heavy set woman. anyone with information is asked to call police. walter perez "action news." today the state of delaware took action to protect their correctional officers in the wake of february's deadly prison uprising. governor carnie signed house bill 214 giving employees the

opportunity to bargain. one of several changes in the month since the hostage situation led to the death of lieutenant steven floyd inside of the vaughn correctional center. today a fourth business leader now left donald trump's manufacturing council after his response to racial violence in virginia. scott paul the head of the alike for manufacturing became the latest in a growing list of executives to quit the council. paul tweeted i'm resigning because it's the right thing for me to do. he joins merck under armour and intel who all left the council yesterday for similar reasons. now president trump responded via twitter, for every ceo that drops out of the council i have many to take their place. grand standers should not have gone on. today thomas reed says he justs the reason why but still calls it a mistake.

look here of an accident scene blocking two right lanes on the northbound side of 95 at the walt whitman bridge exit. a lot of emergency personnel are on the scene and an ambulance and fire truck and pedestrian on the roadway, this is out blocking the two left lanes, if you travel from broad street to this point, expect a major delay but the southbound side not seeing a gaper delay. your travel time if you head out on the northbound side between the blue route to the vine because of this backup, 22 minutes right nowment on the big picture we have slow speeds, d just an accident that wrapped up. once you leave the accident at broad you may hit that one as well. and if you head out on the vine single digits on both sides of the schuylkill expressway. the vine itself showing you we have tapping of the brakes westbound but the eastbound side you are heavy the whole way. back to you. >> gina thank you. >> next on "action news" at 4:00, a followup to an

military exercises next week. a woman was seriously injured after she apparently tried to protect her young children during a rare and terrifying incident many she was with her young sons when a massive tree fell on them this morning. good samaritans jumped into action working with first responders to pull the woman out from under the tree. two children were in a stroller and baby carrier. the children are also hospitalized in serious condition. none of the injuries is believed to be life-threatening. investigators in nebraska are trying to figure out what caused an explosion that leveled a home. it critically injured two people and damaged other homes. it sent glass, and shingles and pieces of drywall flying and some debris traveled as far as 200 feet.

of philadelphia but a few spitting showers here and there even along i-95 and 322, but the dew poin dew poin dew points don't bet much higher than 72 to 77. 73 philadelphia and 71 in reading and these numbers are the numbers you can blame for how uncomfortable it feels out there. but the good thing going the next few days, the trend is going down into the mid-60s and that means drier air is puncturing in tomorrow and most of thursday, but notice the spike again coming in on friday. which would be much like today. and saturday it starts to come back down once again. as we take a look at stormtracker 6 live double scan most of the showers are now in southern parts of new jersey, southern tip of long beach island all the way down to atlantic city and sea isle city. and downpours are still drifting along 49 west of millville and smyrna and dover.

there was a thunderstorm there, dover pickp up an inch of rainfall today and the rain breaks apart as you head towards philadelphia. temperatures in the 70s. 4-in allentown un77 in wilmington and philadelphia and at the shore middle 70s there with the ocean warm at 76 degrees. a little bit of atmospheric energy rolling through that brought the rain and it's sliding out and starting to see the clearing trend of the north and west with and the area cleans its acts up. 64 allentown and 67 millville and 68 by tomorrow morning in dover. 8:00 tonight the rain is gone and we may start to try to rip the clouds apart and temperatures in the middle 70s and starting wednesday morning a dry rush and sunshine to the north and west and temperatures 70 degree orz better and tomorrow afternoon just high clouds and a lot of sun and notice temperatures near 90 in philadelphia and mid up toer 80s else where and tracking hurricane gert we see it

a man with a crowbar went into a philadelphia check cashing business and tried to pry open an atm. it was rolling at is the chu agent on logan, the suspect was unsuccessful opening the atm and was able to get into the office and take $260 in cash. if you recognize the man in this video philadelphia police want to hear from you. >> repairs are made to a we're main that broke in delaware county shooting water high into the sky. the break happened along chester highway. all the water and the crews on the scene caused traffic delays around that area. officials with the chester water authority says that the main that broke was a 6 inch cast iron main. no injuries were reported and be aware of the road closures if driving in the area. you see what happened earlier today and the effects are still lingering this afternoon. >> a lot of water going into the

a father in ohio was arrested after his 3-year-old child was found under a pile of trash in a running car. it happened early sunday morning in columbus, three officers were patrolling the area on foot and came across an unoccupied vehicle running. it was full of rubbish that appeared to be pulled from a dumpster and they noticed a small hand in the debris and

they opened the door to find the child asleep. the child's father was found wandering nearby and was taken into custody. a texas man who survived a rattlesnake bite is bitten again this time by a big medical bill. his son was able to drive him to the closest hospital but once there he was told he needed to be air lifted to a bigger hospital 47 miles away. and after being in the icu he was home feeling grateful and he was on the hook for the helicopter ride to the tune of $30,000. >> that was more traumatic than realizing i was actually bitten by a rattlesnake and more angry about the bill and initially refused the ride knowing it would be expensive but felt he had no other choice in a life or death situation. he is trying to negotiate with

this is clinique fit. the makeup line for the gym promising to stay put even through a hot yoga class. from face makeup to the eyes, the tag line is life is a marathon look good doing it. it's sweat and humidity resistant but they claim it doesn't clog pores or cause breakouts and you have to have the mascara, the editors tried it saying that the mascara that is part of this line did not run even when they were a sweaty salty mess. the idea of wearing makeup to the gym is polarizing. >> how do you get it off? >> i do love my mascara, you get it off with your makeup remover. >> i heard you need a brillo pad. >> try it on for size. no mangeup for me during a

workout. forget it. >> gina is here with an update on the roads. >> reporter: lets talk about what is happen on 95, we have injure accident out here. if you travel from south philadelphia heading to the northeast you'll find that out here blocking the two left lanes northbound tasker avenue northbound exit. we are delayed all the way back traveling out to broad street out to this point. but then as we get further up ahead traveling around 95 at bridge street another accident there, that one is out there blocking the right lane because of a medical emergency and you see that here, the right lane is blocked. northbound 95 commuter between the vine and woodhaven, 44 minutes, the other accident is at washington, just in general from south philadelphia and heading to this point give yourself extra time. it's going to be a slow go. and also a slow go heading to the northeast as well and taking the northbound side of the

families who serve this country are getting a small token of thanks today. 500 military kids are receiving backpacks and school supplies at joint base lakehurst. it's all part of operation home front back to school brigade.

dollar tree helped to responser this backpack drive and operation home front started nine years ago and so far provided 300,000 backpacks for military children. adam joseph is joining us now talking about what a lousy day it is, but the good news is tomorrow is better. the rain is almost over and we move through tomorrow and thursday, the sunshine is gaining control once again. as we look at the weather center here we are dealing with the dreary sky and damp roadways and the extremely high humidity. today you don't need to head to the caribbean or tropics to get that feeling out there. we felt it all day long. and as we take a look down here at the ben franklin parkway. not looking at windshield wipers on as the rain has temporarily ended at times in and around philadelphia. but as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan we flip it forward here and a couple of

showers west of the city here. they are not going to do all that much. they drop a rain drop here or there. at times delaware county and eastern chester county scoots through center city briefly and dealing with steadier rainfall south of bridgeton in morristown and millville. and you are dealing with the persistent light rain from cape may to ocean city. but if you are at the shore. you have the kids inside all day long. don't worry, a little later this evening the rain will stop and hit the boardwalks to get them outside. 78 in millville. 77 in philadelphia and wilmington as well as dover. mid-70s in allentown and reading. and 70s sound comfortable but when you step out it basically feels like a steam bath out there with the tropical humidity. and some of that tropical humidity is in response to gert a hurricane well off the coast.
