it's an all too familiar scene of terror. the big news is terror in barcelona. 13 people are dead and 80 others were injured after being mowed down by that white van and police have taken two people into custody but police say that neither was the driver and isis has claimed responsibility. the attack happened in the las ramblas district on the wide boulevard for pedestrians only. but at 5:00 p.m. local time witnesses say that a driver sped through the landmark section of townsending people flying into the air. and vice president mick pence condemned the attack during an appearance in panama. >> the latest images of carnage and mayhem sicken us all. as the president said, the united states condemns this terror attack and we will do whatever is necessary to help. >> the u.s. officials have not yet revealed if any of the

victims are americans. >> well, here at home, there is plent why i have of reaction to the terror attack in barcelona, especially at one of philadelphia's most popular destinations here independence mall. jeff is live along the mall with more on that tonight from old city. folks we spoke with are saddened by the news and disturbed by what appears to be a more popular method of terror. terror by vehicle. >> we are looking as all agencies are at every incident that happens everywhere in the world. >> late this afternoon philadelphia police tried to reassure the public they are on alert as they monitor the attack in barcelona. >> are you not safe anywhere anymore. >> people are reacting to the news after the growing trend of terror by vehicle knowing it could happen here. >> i think about it all the time. i think about it often.

but i try to live me life though, not far from wesley sawyer's mind as he eats with his tamly along market street. >> you have to be looking. >> the use of vehicles increased since the truck attack in nice, france that killed 80 and last weekend one person was killed and 19 injured when a driver drove into a crowd in charlottesville. >> we see that more frequently. >> and the old city district for major events the city uses trash trucks or concrete barriers, around independence mall ballards surround the liberty bell and independence hall and could be used to protect people. >> those types of things that are more common in europe could be introduced at a greater rate in philadelphia. >> and police are looking to root out terrorists before they

to commit health care fraud. they admitted to bilking state medicare programs of $29 million by submitting fraudulent claims. and atlantic city and margate and ventnor are under investigation as part of the case. a man is sentenced to 27 and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a child. tony carter plead guilty to deviant intercourse with a child. and he was arrested after the 6-year-old told police he abused herself times at his home in warminster last year. new information after a double murder in south philadelphia. and both victims were strangled. funeral services will be held tomorrow for the 23-year-old woman caitlyn jayjay, was murdered along with her boyfriend. trish hartman is live from

philadelphia police headquarters. loved ones are searching for answers as police search for a suspect and a motive tonight. >> reporter: that is right rick, we have new information tonight in this case many the medical examiners office released the autopsy results is strangulation. and homicide. the family hopes someone will come forward with information to lead police to an arrest after the couple was found dead in their apartment earlier this week. >> there is no words to describe how it feels, i never thought i would lose a child. and just, it hurts. >> caitlyn's father and sister say they miss her out going and out spoken and sparkling personality they never thought at age 23 they would gather photos of her and say good-bye.

>> she had no enemies that anybody knew. >> that caitlyn and her boyfriend were found dead in their south philadelphia apartment sunday night. investigators found no signs of forced entry but the place was ransacked and the two were bruised and bloody and found in different rooms, something was found around their necks and just before the killings she sensed his young son to stay with a family member. >> she saved his life and she loved him if you look at the pictures of them she loved him and he loved her. >> miranda says her sister struggled with drugs in the past but her commitment to stay clean was to pay off she was about to start classes this fall. >> she was doing well for herself and had a great head on her shoulders and was making all

the solar eclipse is when the earth, the moon and sun are in cleat alignment. what happens is that the moon is really small but a lot close toward the earth so when it moves over the sun it looks like they are the same size and the maroon cast two different shadows, the shadow called the upbrol shadow it's on a narrow path and 70 miles long across the coast on monday but a much bigger shadow, that is all the way from alaska to mexico and that is what we are seeing, a partial eclipse close to 80% and sky conditions look good for it and if you look up you need the protective eye gear, we'll have a special report monday afternoon. can i go outside? it's not dangerous just don't look at the sun without the

protective eye gear. 86 degrees and our high is 90 degrees and allentown 85 and wilmington 82 and cape may cooler 78 and dover dropping down to 81 degrees, showers crossed over the delaware bay side fortescue, heading toward morristown and millville. no lightning with this, this is just a warm front moving through. that continues to push through overnight and then we get a cold front late in the day tomorrow night. that has a lot more widespread thunderstorm activity. future tracker 6 showing as we head through the overnight hours, with that warm front limping through we will get scattered showers and a thunderstorm early tomorrow morning. then we get a dry period around lunch time. it's overcast and humid and then the cold front moves through and this could bring us a line of some pretty active thunderstorms for the friday evening commute reaching the coast at 8:30 and any storm can have some heavy downpours.
