of frank rizzo. this time a mural honoring the former mayor in south philly was arcticed with vandals tossing paint on rizzo's facing action news reporter joins us with details. >> wallet, this vandalism is extensive, it comes after the mural arts organization finished touching up last incident of vandalism in may. some are asking whether this mural should be removed completely. >> it's horrifying. >> reporter: for south philly artist, joe, the vandallism of the frank rizzo mural is personal he help paint it and seeing the white paint running down the mayor's face pains him. >> five times, ten times, it's just very -- it happens too often. >> reporter: a group of vandals splatted paint and wrote the record kill killer cops's of comes days after a statue of

rizzo was marred with the word black power. rizzo served from 1972 to 80. a controversial figure when it came to race relations his public like nesses drawn renewed criticism. head of mural arts philadelphia wrote a column calling for a discussion about the future of rizzo's mural, the most vandalized in the city. removing it isn't something community murals director kathy harris supports. >> i don't think that the a good path to take. i think to use these as opportunities to talk, to learn, to share that history, to pass that history on. >> reporter: folks we spoke with agree, there are more important issues to tackle than the faith of the looming figure of a mayor they say did a lot of good. >> we're living in 2017. those things really shouldn't matter, you know, we should be wearing about a war that donald trump is getting -- starting already in the white house.

audit deburst in flames and the driver was killed. the impact severed pieces of that vehicle, which went flying into the yard even in the pool, as you can see. man who lives in that home said he's grateful that no one was in the yard at the time. >> we usually have parties, usually lasts around 2:00 tonight one of them wasn't these nights. luckily we have a wheel in the backyard and tail gates in the back pool. >> meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries. from new jersey newsroom. a hazmat situation in trenton forced evacuation of an apartment building there this morning. it happened just after 9:30 this morning, along the 600 block of center street. tenants told first responders that there was a strong odor inside the building making their eyes burn. emergency crews have been working to find the source of the odor, so far, no luck. very well dressed thief pulled off an armed robbery at a jewelry store on the mainline getting away with several

ride started at the philadelphia police academy and ended at the living plan memorial at 6th and race in northeast philadelphia. this is the 4th annual ride honing law enforcement officials who have been lost to suicide. the fire department pitched in providing a fire truck that hoisted the american flag over state street. with a little help from the new castle county police department be children were taught the importance safety lesson of the day, action cam was at the christiana mall as these kids were given a tour of a medical helicopter. there were other neat things for the youngsters to see. this event was designed to raise awareness about safety, especially bicycle safety. kickoff event was held as part of chester's overtown revital sensation project. . he hosted the kickoff block party. included life performances and food. various vendors were on hand selling locally produced products. jump around, got to jump around

in a moon bounce, it's an estimated $2 million project that will be located along the 500 block of the avenue of the sea. mural artists put their painting skills on display to memorize a jazz great. dozens of people gathered to paint a new mural in northern of john coltrane, a mural painted in 2002 was demolished in 2014, this new one will honor him on a wall along oxford street not too far from where he lived in strawberry mansion. a dedication ceremony scheduled for september 24th. ♪ . ♪ .

difference, yesterday we had due points very tropical in the upper 70's, right now, we calmed down just a little bit. due point temperatures in philadelphia coming in at 63. still a lot of moisture along the coast from beach haven even down to cape may. as we look at the trend, we're in the lower 60's, both tomorrow and monday. so it should be ok if you're viewing the eclipse outside on monday, the due point number certainly shouldn't be a factor but they will start to increase as we get into tuesday and back down once again on wednesday. right now, as we look at the temperatures across the area, still 87 had in philadelphia after a high today of 88 degrees. 84 for allentown-up in the poconos, 76 degrees. over in beach haven at 81, lancaster 84, dover coming in at 86. satellite sits along with action radar showing you we're dry across the delaware and lehigh valleys. we're tracking a disturbance where at a severe thunderstorm watch box popped up. we'll track this as it continues to travel east so there could be a stray shower mainly north and

west of the i95 corridor but the bulk will start to fizzle out. over the next 12 hours an isolated thunderstorm overhead mainly north and west otherwise partly cloudy. future tracker 6 showing you 9:30 we're tracking that energy, it will work its way east where you can see moisture bubbling up from the poconos down to lancaster by about 11:00, you see a lot of that moisture starts to fizzle out. here in philadelphia. and we are dry as we get into the overnight hours and into start of the day tomorrow. it's sunny on our sunday with lower humidity, temperatures early in the morning, we'll be in the lower 70, maxing out in middle and lower 80's as we get into tomorrow. let's talk about one day or two days away from the total solar eclipse, passes through 12 states from oregon to south carolina, that is where you are in the path of totality, what walter was talking about. 90 minutes.
