on investigation. >> reporter: this is just the beginning of the investigation, the ntsb's style is to take its time whether it's an air disaster or train wreck. they do not judgment to premature conclusions, the probe of a mass transit wreck could take months certainly not days. shortly after midnight 20 ambulances responded to a mass casualty call to 69th street terminal in upper darby. 42 passengers injured and taken to multiple hospitals. four individuals listed as trauma cases. and passengers apparently slammed into a mark unit at the platform. by daylight investigators from the national transportation safety board were on the scene. the second probe by the feds of the septa division that the terminal. this larger market frankford train rammed a second parked

responders did a great job of getting everyone to the right treatment. ambulances rushed to the scene, 20 lining the street as calls came in reporting a septa train carrying passengers collided with an empty car train at 69th street transportation center. dr. patrick kim the director of the presbyterian medical center received three patients to their level one trauma center and 42 passengers overall including the operator were hurt. they were evaluated on site and transported to eight area hospitals. we mobilize additional resources and if it were worse we could have mobilized resources from outside of the hospital as well. >> we saw injuries that were fortunately minor and they were minor muscular skeletal injuries and facial factors. officials report that four

i-95 and southeast. it will be lingering tomorrow. lots of clouds to start the day and gradual clearing and the heat and humidity will be moving out during the day tomorrow. and i think a lot o people are happy about that. if you look at the temperatures now 90 in philadelphia and 91 in same in millville. it is coole at the shore and temperatures in the 80s and dew points in the 70s. the heat index feels around 100 and we are pretty much average this time of year, the average to date, number of 90 degree days, 23. today is 24 the record to date back in 2010, we had 45 days. but the whole year 55 days of temperatures in the 90s. that is pretty hot. satellite 6 along with action radar showing the system, cold front pushing in from the west the fact it's moving in after daylight heating it's weakening

the 69th street transportation center in upper darby when a train crashed into a cars that was stopped. sara bloomquist is live with more on the investigation. >> reporter: monica and walter we are waiting on the first briefing from the national transportation safety board in regard to this incident. this is not the first collision, the only collision at the 69th street terminal in recent months. investigators are working to figure out what happened this time around. investigators are expecting tracks and other equipment to determine the cause of this collision on the rails. >> just to let them do their job and do a thorough investigation, i have all the confidence that septa will do that and the national transportation safety board takes a little longer. >> the northbound high speed line was arriving at the busy transportation center when it
