good afternoon. in the news the engineer from the deadly amtrak crash is back in court in pennsylvania. and the villanova university community says good-bye to legendry basketball coach, rolly massimino. and the big story is 25% of the homes in the florida keys are destroyed from hurricane irma. they are surveying the damage caused by the storm. fema is launching a stream of rescue efforts along the stream of islands. and people were lined up to return to their communes even though most are without power. we have more from a damaged hope in naples, florida. >> look at this roof completely collapsed. mangled electricity lines, the big challenge cleaning up while staying safe. now out of florida.

and what remains of her is marching north but in her wake she has left a path of devastation and so many homes without power. this storm'sredi unstoppable. in jacksonville, florida this river spilled into downtown and the mayor offering this advice. >> i would remind folks put something like a white flag if we need to get you out. >> even farther north in charleston, south carolina. this lake overflowing. >> this is where the lake was and here is where it is now. >> and in georgia more than 1,000 flights canceled. in florida it made lan fall not once but twice. damaging homes in the key as far as the eyes can see. >> and ships wreck zbrd this is zef stating. >> the second time on marco

trying to leave saint martin. as they rush to get out the locals trying to find the basics, including food water and shelter. the engineer of that deadly amtrak derailment is back in court for the preliminary hearing. breaking news now from the frankford section of philadelphia there has been a shooting. this happened at 11:00 this morning on the 5100 block of frankford avenue. right there on the street you see the crime scene tape is up. we are told that a 24-year-old man was shot one time transported to temple hospital and the scene is being held here as the crime scene unit will be arriving and so far no arrests. it happened on the 5100 block of frank ford avenue and police are on the scene of the shooting. we'll monitor this throughout the newscast. the engineer in the deadly amtrak derailment back in court for the preliminary hearing this

morning. brandon bostian arrived for the hearing and they rejected the defense team's request to dismiss the case. for the may 16 and crash that killed two people. "action news" reporter john rawlins will have the latest from a live report in the next half hour. a fire tragedy is under investigation in delaware. family members say that a man died while trying to save his life from a burning home. >> wilmington fire officials are investigating the first fire fatality of the year this as family and friends come to terms with this unthinkable tragedy. a man went inside to save his wife of 30 years, not knowing she had already gotten out of the burning home. and now investigators trying to find the cause of a fire that consumed this home of west 37th street. trapping a man inside and seriously injured his wife.

>> they banged on the door and i ran up the street. >> that man was georgina watson's stepfather, her mother's husband of more than 30 years. dennis watson bolted out of the home to what looked like a raging ball of fire and smoke. >> i was running up the street yelling where is my mom. and a neighbor said she is here, she is here. >> how did it feel hearing that? >> amazing but i was trying to figure out where my stepdad was and they said he ran in to get your mom. >> he ran in to rescue his wife but she already jumped out of a second story window into the arms of a neighbor waiting to catch her below and the flames trapped him inside. by the time fire crews rescued him he was in critical condition. they found a pulse and performed cpr and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. >> he took good care of her and

wilmington and cape may, new jersey, 71 degrees. as we go through the afternoon we look at a warm one we expect to get up to 80 by 2:00, and a high of 81 at 3:00 and still holding a similar number by 4:00. we start to zip down quickly, 8:00 down to 72 and 10:00, 67 degrees going down to the mid-60s in philadelphia and upper 50s in some suburbs. tomorrow we start to see the cloud cover and some precipitation moving into. by 10:30 in the morning clouds pushing in from the southwest and off and on you see some of this and you see the remnants of tropical storm irma, that is no longer a tropical storm but we have the wide band of moisture to the east of the storm covering several states including our neck of the woods, on thursday we start to increase the human one for time this season and that may stick with us for several days.

he waswo prison terms. welch was already serving a prison term in daware for sexually molesting a 10-year-old girl. parents are suing the boy scouts after their 15-year-old son died from a heat stroke during a hike. he was sent on an aggressive hike on more than 100 degree heat before he was trained to do so. the wrongful death lawsuit claims he was with two other teens when he died. a violation of safety rules. his troop posthumously awarded him the eagle scout hon sneer new video shows this 7-year-old being taken to the hospital after police rescued the child from a stolen vehicle in california. the woman left the car running and went into the restaurant to pick up food. the man jumped into the car and

here is the wide view of what is left of irma. you see the rain is dying down and getting fairly scattered and there is that shower activity pushing up into our neck of the woods and future tracker 6 by noon there could be sprinkles and showers before that. not a lot of this though, just scattered stuff popping through and every now and then you may get a 15 minute burst of steadier rain and hurricane jose down in the caribbean and producing rip currents for the u.s. and it looks like the storm will loop around and become a tropical storm and refire to a category one and by sun morning it's probably out away from florida. the spaghetti plot models are all over the place, several of them have it going into florida and we are banking on this idea. going into the atlanticic and staying off the coast. warm and comfortable today. and tomorrow clouds and sun and
