bodies were found in a sweltering nursing home. this has turned into a criminal investigation. we go live to the satellite center and news reporter dann cuellar. >> jim, the question that remains tonight is how was this allowed to happen? >> from the air, the desperate effort to save senior citizens would be seen. a life and death situation at hollywood hills. the first sign of trouble came this morning with a call about a heart attack. it became clear that it was more serious. >> the facilities are hot. we made the decision to evacuate the patients from the facility. eight people dead, three at the

nursing home, five later at the hospital. the precise cause yet to be determined. several suffering from dee hydration and heat exhaustion. they had fans but no air conditioning. >> we believe it may be related to the losses of power and the storm, but we are conducting a criminal investigation not ruling anything out. >> the temperature was 90 but it felt 102-degrees. what's also troubling is that the nursing home is yards away from one of the biggest hospitals in, in the area. >> the fact that it's down the street, we don't have control over what happens in the facility. police are looking into reports that the windows wouldn't hope. the health department had been in contact with the nursing home in the last three days and told them to call 911 if there was any problem. >> how does this happen?

>> it's a sad state of affairs. we depend on the facilities to care for our most elderly population. >> other homes are being evacuated after first responders were ordered to check everyone in the area. jim? >> dan, han thank you. the effort to restore power to 7,000,000 people. it's been a slow process and could take more than a week to get everyone back online. it will be life saving. six people died of carbon carbon monoxide poisoning from generator. for many, there is no power, no self service and no water. tourists have been evacuated from the ravaged islands. on st. thomas many lives have been ruined as have the police

wall was not agreed to so we'll see how this plays out. >> a pedestrian struck by a pickup truck tonight on rockwell drive in stanton delaware. he is now at christiana hospital being treated for serious injuries. state police investigating whether charges should be filed. a multiple shooting in philadelphia, an hour ago second street near lippincot at least four people were shot. police drove one person to temp university hospital because of the severity of the person's injuries. we are trying to get more details about the other victims. philadelphia police continue their search for a man and woman who put a disabled man in the hospital with a bullet wound to the stomach. annie mccormick is live at penn presbyterian with the latest on the story. annie? >> the victim remains in the

intensive care unit. there is new video showing a closer look at two people police believe are responsible. they are hoping the public can help > identify them. a shooter and her accomplice sizing up a 60-year-old man before shooting him in the stomach. her accomplice opened the door for him before he went to the atm to take out cash, 1:30 in the morning on the 1200 block of north 53rd street. >> the female pulls out a gun and shoots him. >> this video giving hope for leads. >> it's odd to have male and female doing robberies, especially this age group. it's odd to have a female with a gun initiating the robbery.

democratic governor tom wolf who says it fails to solve the state's underlying problems. it faces push back from republican and democrat democrae in the state senate. investigators say engine trouble was to blame for the crash that killed troy gentry last week. the pilot suffered problems on take off. he tried to perform a maneuver to glide the helicopter down. instead it crashed killing 50-year-old gentry and the pilot. gentry was half of the award winning duo, montgomery/gentry. local musicians in restaurants in doylestown are donating their time and talents to hurricane relief. a concert venue was on wells
