teachers in methacton are going on strike classes are canceled today. police in bucks county investigate an attempted child luring after a series of i want in philadelphia. >> up next tracking hurricane jose, give it to us. >> reporter: all right, davey. >> reporter: we have a tropical storm popping up the coast that extends through wednesday afternoon and during the day tomorrow we'll see hurricane jose go off the coast, while there's not a certainty we'll see tropical storm force winds you'll see gusts that go that high. you may have loose objects blown around and tree branches down and that sort of thing. the wide view cloud cover pushing toward the coast and into philadelphia. these are the outer bands of hose say and the center of the

storm off the coast of north carolina him it is progressing as a category one hurricane. 69 degrees in philadelphia. 70 in millville. 69 in cape may. 64 in allentown and 65 in reading. as we go through the day we're looking at warm conditions we'll get up to 79 degrees by 3:00 p.m. i expect a high of 80 degrees just after that at 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m., 74 degrees. we cloud up, but mainly dry today there's a sprinkle or showers at times. there comes the bus right through the mid section. we jumped the gun a little bit it will be all right woag through the rest of the day. we have a fog developing up in allentown and lancaster and this may get worse as we go through the morning. much more on jose, including the

latest track and how strong the storm will be in the north that's coming. >> reporter: no impact on the road to at the moment. this is the schuylkill expressway we have the left lane blocked for another hour. we have light volume so no issues currently on the schuylkill expressway. construction on the turnpike, as well. this is eastbound approaching fort washington and currently blocking the two left lanes, construction on the turnpike a little bit of an issue as well as eastbound past willow grove. lots of construction crews light volume no big deal, roads are dry. live in new jersey, 42 northbound traffic coming up from deptford or turnersville just a couple of cars coming this way. left lane blocked on the ac expressway westbound near route 9. >> hurricane jose is swirling up the atlantic ocean it is currently a category one storm and will remain off the coast

and rough surf and beach erosion and flooding could hit the jersey shore. katherine scott is live in brigantine with a look at conditions there right now. katherine? >> reporter: matt, we're actually in atlantic city right now we're keeping an eye on conditions here, right now we're seeing a light rain on and off, the wind is not atypical, what we're watching is the water it is expected to get rougher over the next several days. we're in atlantic city north maine by madison. we're expecting the contingency to get worse. as far as water is concerned especially jose is expected to bring dangerous surf and rip currents. the path is well off land, but the wynfield could reach the verse shore and the delaware beaches. along the coast today and tonight we could get heavy wind gusts and rain and growing wave highlights something else to expect, rough surf and beach

erosion. there could minor to moderate coastal flooding around high tide. we're taking a look at the water. it's turning and over the next few days if you're in town you want to keep the rip currents in mind you want to stay out of the surf it could get dangerous, that is something we're keeping an eye on here we'll let you know what we see. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> we have seen or may have en our first impact of rough surf jose at the southern tip of new jersey we noticed the lifeguard shack in cape may starting to tilt last night. crews were out there trying to upright. methacton teachers are going on strike this morning that means the classes are canceled today. jeanette reyes is live outside methacton high school in eagleville where teachers will be on the picket line this morning.

georgia net. >> reporter: good morning, tam, students and parents were hoping until the early evening yesterday this wouldn't happen, but the word came in that a strike would begin this morning. weeks into the school year students will be off tore an undetermined amount of time. a standstill in the bargaining process led to the announcement by the methacton education association that teachers will go on strike this morning after new deal was reached with the district. the union represents 400 teachers and professional staff. the issues salary, benefit, class side teacher/student ratio and team teaching. over the weekend chris boardman assured parents and teachers that 0 negotiations were productive. dramatically increasing the share of healthcare premium while not increasing salaries isen not acceptable.

a state mediator is involved in coordinating the exchange of proposals between parties. the strike starts today and so does the picketing here we'll let you know about the developments in the on going negotiations. tam. >> police are warning parents about an attempted child luring in feasterville, bucks county. lower southampton township police say the i want happened on park lane near bustleton pike. a man driving a silver suv approached two girls ages 8 or 9 years old. he asked if they wanted a ride. they told. no, he drove off. police are looking for the driver. this is coming as police in north philadelphia investigate several attempted child lurings that occurred last week. on friday, police said there were 6 different incidents where children said there was they were approached by a man driving

drizzle on the windshield. we have clouds over center city. there may be sun today, but more clouds than you saw over the weekend. 63 degrees. the winds out of the of the east/northeast 7 miles per hour. the ocean temperature, 74. as we've saying all weekend long, the conditions in the water are more and more dangers over the neck 24 -- next 24 hours. there you see a category one storm. cloudy across the region with the possibility of sun breaking through especially early. 68 degrees is the 8:00 a.m. temperature. 10:00. we generally speaking cloudy up a little bit as the day goes on. 3:00 p.m., high of 79. 81 in allentown. 28 in reading, 78 in wilmington, 79 in trenton. 80 in millville.

on the the boardwalk and promenades mid 70s. phillies dodgers, i think they will get it in, 74 for the first pitch, 70 in the 9th inning. here's jose a category one hurricane getting closer to our latitude. as we look at the progression of the storm it comes up to the latitude as a category one. it does a retrograde and becomes a tropical storm and tropical low. it will go into this evening, and tuesday and wednesday morning. future tracker 6 shows you probably by 3 a.m., we'll see bands of rain coming in off the coast. most of the rain will be to the east of the city. rain not a super big issue with this storm. even tomorrow evening at you're seeing mainly lighter bands and

maybe something heavier comes through. in terms of winds the hurricane force winds will not be on the coaster. tropical storm sustained wind will be out to sea. we'll see waves being churned up, rip currents and erosion and 40 to had a mile an hour wind gusts. that may be the biggest issue from jose. potential issues with the wind will be loose objects blown around damage to andings and carports and tree branches could come down. we're looking at high of 80 today, warm and humid conditions. jose coming at us, a sprinkle or shower around, briefly. tomorrow it's jose's winds and rain coming through. the biggest impacts at the shore there could be a storm surge of 1 to 3 feet flooding down the shore wouldn't be out of the question especially since we're heading toward a lunar high tide. tomorrow 75 with jose passing

airport. quiet and placid this morning. we'll see if things change this evening, maybe as the winds from jose kick up. 4:15 a.m., 69 degrees. >> who is out there, the milk man. >> reporter: i see a tanker truck going by. we have one or two cars traveling on the road. if you're waking up early, this is 202 approaching the schuylkill expressway king of prussia, if you're coming in from chester brook no big problems. old lincoln highway hulmeville road and browns mill road. the road is scheduled to close each day from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. this lasts through 22nd of december. you will have to deal with this for a while.

stick to bristol road instead of old lincoln highway. we have a construction on the schuylkill expressway near upper merion. we have construction until 5:00 a.m. between the turnpike and the blue route eastbound on the schuylkill expressway. boulevard extension, southbound traffic heading toward the schuylkill. nice easy ride. a little bit of patchy fog, no big deal as you head out. a good start to the day. >> new this morning, a campus police officer shot and killed a student georgia tech in atlanta. a student recorded the altercation yesterday morning. shultz refused to put down a knife and kept moving toward the officers that's when one of the officers fired killing shultz. no officer was injured. shultz's mother told the newspaper her son has battled depression and attempted suicide. two people survived a small

plane crash in california and walked away from the scene. the plane lost power and crashed in the middle of a intersection. the plane was leaking fuel when it came to a stop. nobody on the ground was injured in the crash. two moms say their are shaken up from a terrifying moment on a ferris wheel in greens borough, north carolina. the boys ages 5 and 7 were on the ride on friday when it malfunctioned. they were clinging to each other inside the tilted carriage. they saw a carnival worker fall from the ride trying to save them. the worker surveld minor -- suffered minor injuries and they were rescued from the ride. a woman injured after she and other students were attacked with as i had -- acid, yesterday

morning a woman separated the women in the face with acid. the suspect is a 41-year-old french woman as police described as disturbed. she posted on facebook she was not seriously injured. i pray that the attacker would be healed from her mental illness in the name of jesus. >> the eagles suffered their first loss to the kansas chiefs in arrow head stadium in more than a decade. chiefs knocked down the last play in the endzone that could have tied the game. the eagles lose 27-20. >> that's football. last week we pulled it out road, this week we came up short. a lot of things we did well a

>> entire length of the florida keys has reopened for the first time since hurricane irma struck. more people are getting their first look at what the massive storm did to their home and properties. homeowners call it heartbreaking. rescue crews are still going door to door to make sure nobody was left behind. governor rick scott toured everglade city promising to get it back to normal. public schools in high am me are expected to open today, even though some do not have air-conditioning. >> that sounds rough. >> that's the case in some schools around here.
