around labor day weekend all of a sudden a bunch of 60s and 70s for high temperatures. now we get closer to october here comes the 90s again. 71 degrees in philadelphia. the normal high is 75. we're close to that now. allentown, 63. poconos you started out in the 40s yesterday morning, 54 right now. trenton, 67, millville, 65. cape may, checking in at 68 degrees. here's satellite and radar we have a little bit of cloud cover off the coast. that's actually associated, that's the leading edge of maria, which is working up the eastern seaboard. i'll focus more on maria later in the broadcast him as you look at what's going on across the eastern half of the united states say from the continental divide east ward there's not much to talk about, high pressure is in control, it's what we call a ridge or heat-pump high. which is why we'll see temperatures in the 90s.

philadelphia where two men were taken into custody after gunshots were fired. "action news" has learned police officers heard shots, they came across the two men with guns. it is not known if the men were responsible for the shots heard or were firing at police. the investigation is on going. 7:07 a.m. philadelphia police are working hard to track down a bank robber who pulled off several crimes. >> investigators say the bandit has committed three crimes in the chinatown section they say he is violent. they want him off the streets as soon as possible. annie mccormick has the details. >> reporter: authorities are investigating if this man is behind multiple armed bank robberies in chinatown in recent weeks. surveillance video captured the man during two recent robberies on north 10th street one on saturday, september 9 after 1:20 p.m. and another monday,

19th before 12:30 p.m. the suspect a black male in his 20s or 30s, 5'10" with a thin build was seen wearing a distinctive hat with philadelphia written on it. and another time wearing sunglasses with gold siding. police have not released surveillance photos, but the assailant facilities the same description down to the sunglasses with gold siding and armed with a knife in midday. chinatown businesses see the wanted posters up, in one case, the assailant threatened an employ's -- employee's life. he is armed and dangerous. >> chinatown is not just a business area, it's a residence area we have community members living here, there are so many community people who doesn't speak english and live in the area, i'm concerned about them. >> reporter: annie mccormick channel 6 "action news."

career when the actual normal high is going down. the normal is 75. we're 16 degrees above seasonal averages. 70 degrees is where we started out this morning. 71 now. that's close to the normal high. the big story for us, over the next 3 to 4 days will be the heat and humidity. reading, 63, dover, 63. an trenton, 67 degrees. the set up remains the same. huge area of high pressure anchored over the mid atlantic states. the remnants of jose sitting and spinning off cape cod 250, 300 miles to the southeast still close enough to produce the large waves. the high will prevent maria from coming into it will hook right at the carolinas and go out to sea. hot and humid today, 91 degrees, sunny skies, monday, sun and clouds, still hot. the humidity gets worse monday

afternoon. the today's feels like term, 91 or 92 -- temperature, 91 or 92. tomorrow, it will feel like 92 or 93. hermosillo -- hurricane maria, category 2 maximum sustained wind 110 miles per hour. we're seeing the tropical force wind expand out there. the hurricane force winds expand out. even though the eye itself will not make landfall, with the wind field being as big as it is, you will experience tropical storm force winds in the carolinas and maybe hurricane force winds for cape hatteras and the outer banks.
