>> hi monica, well it's still very much a first responders situation concerning puerto rico at this point. mayor kenney and councilwoman sanchez is helping six army staffers to secure seats tomorrow on an american airlines flight. the salvation army is taking part in point because there is an existing operation there. >> this is a dire operation and getting the needed supplies to them is critical right now. >> the salvation army has an estimated 150 staffers home based in puerto rico. since maria they have been feeding an estimated 14 thousand people a day and providing shelters they are working with the resources they already had on hand but as you can imagine when the island is locked up for so long, the resources begin to run dry. getting supplies to the island a major issue right now with damage to roads and other infrastructure. including airports.
