block of east pastoral street. four people were shot including an 11-year-old girl. a 16 sthot in the back and pronounced dead at einstein medical center. police say shots were firing in all directions. >> we have multiple shell casings on one side of the block and on the other side of the block. it appears it was a shootout between two people or two groups of people. >> this is the live picture now. the 11-year-old girl has a grazed wound to her left arm. an 18-year-old male was shot in the right side of the torso. he's evaluated at einstein. a 19-year-old took bullets to the leg and stomach. police are saying nothing yet about the circumstances around

the shooting but the investigation is under progress. >> 2 26 hopkins street in new jersey the scene of a murder mystery. this is where a woman who was house sitting, 26-year-old shawneeq carter of camden was found dead. christie ileto is back from woodbury and has the story. >> her father feels he's been living in a nightmare. his daughter was murdered and his five-year-old grandson made the gruesome discovery. >> he didn't know what to do. >> he was scared to leave his mom alone. his grandson waited until the following day to walk to get help. the house in woodbury quickly became a crime scene.

>> they were sleeping. they don't know m what happened. >> shawneeq was beaten to death inside her friend's home where she was house sitting. >> because your daughter was house sitting, do you think she was the intended target? >> i don't know why she was there. >> no one came to the door but neighbors told "action news" the homeowners keep to themselves. >> i don't want no hate in my heart. carter is focused on how he's going to raise his motherless five-year-old grandson who is traumatized by the weekend violence. >> he's telling me, pop pop, i want to die so i can talk to my mom. what do i tell my five-year-old grandson? >> i don't have the answers. >> their family clearly

struggling to move forward there. the only thing taken from the home during the murder was her cellphone. live in the center, "action news" wphl-17. >> a man was murdered a block away from a remembrance event near dewpoint middle school. the shooting happened at 8:00 at 3rd and monroe. >> president trump is pushing back against criticism that his administration reacted to slowly over too little aid to puerto rico. perhaps because he's tic fixaten the kneeling controversy. with much of the island without food and water and medical supplies, the u.s. is sending 26

ships with supplies and troops will distribute aid. trump defended his administration's response to the crisis. >> it's the most difficult job because it's on the island in the middle of the ocean. you can't just drive your trucks there from other states. the governor said we are doing a great job. he thanked me for fema and all of the first responders in puerto rico. >> volunteers from this area are in puerto rico working with the salvation army working to feed 14,000 people a day. the salvation army is asking for monetary donations saying the relief effort will last months if not longer. maria weakened from a tropical storm tonight will not make landfall on the united states. it is the beginning of the end of our summer like heat.

investigating the mistreatment of carriage horses tourists use to visit historic sections of the city. annie mccormick has been looking into the accusations that one company is keeping its horses in bad conditions. what is the latest on this? >> the violations came down this summer but because of the legal process and appeal filed this week, the philadelphia carriage company is operating. the city and animal advocates say they just want the best for the horses. >> everyday on independence mall, you see the company carting tourists through the city. one of the groups, the philadelphia carriage company is facing scathing violations. they received this in august, a final notice and intent to cease operations. this week they filed an appeal. >> when you go to the stable and see some of the conditions of the stable, it's heart wrenching. >> at the urging of animal

advocates councilman went to the stables with act, a veterinarian and license and inspections. advocates have kept their eye on the company posting onsites like this. the city violations highlight the conditions of the horses stating three of the nine horses are below minimum body condition score listing the horses by name, sammy, tucker and butterscotch stating they must not work until they are cleared by a veterinarian. the condition of the stables holding 11 horses cites poor ventilation and the stables don't provide room for the horses to turn around and lay down. >> the horses are still working. are they able to exercise? >> while daunting, they have to follow the law. until the october 24th hearing
