it's just more of the same trickle down economics. >> reporter: as to how this will affect the president, he has said this new tax reform plan is not good for him. he has not released his own tax records. the first president in four decades not to do so. the white house is hoping to get this new tax plan approved by congress by the end of the year. gloria rivera, washington. >> the "new york times" did an analysis based on the president's 2005 tax return and a bloomberg estimate of his wealth and report that the repeal of the estate tax could save them $1 billion. politico reports jared kushner and ivanka trump's use of private e-mail for government business are of interest. a spokesperson did not respond

>> reporter: finely finally a potential break. abbey williams and leibby jermaine were out hiking. their bodies were found by a railway bridge. libby managed to record audio of a man's voice. now colorado and indiana cops are working together. 31-year-old daniel nations was arrested outside colorado springs, accused of threatening several people on a hiking trail with a hatchet. nations is also a person of interest in the death of a cyclist in the same area earlier this month. police are looking at possible similarities between those incidents and the girls' deaths. indiana police cautioned that right now there is nothing that definitively connects this person to their investigation. libby jermaine's family hopes police have finally caught her killer. >> we are hopefully optimistic that today is the day. >> it's been a long seven

from abc news, this is "world news now." and good morning, everyone. we're going to start with the mounting criticism to the response in puerto rico. one woman in a remote town summed up the situation simply by saying we need food. >> more money for the relief effort is about to be approved. the account is set to be boosted by $7 billion today. a general is being sent to the island to oversee the relief efforts. >> abc's eva pilgrim visited the hard-hit island to survey the damage. >> reporter: we fly into vieques, for the first time after being told it was completely wiped out. we flew in with two residents conducting rescue missions. they just got a man with a heart condition much-needed help. the island hanging by a thread. no power, running water. the hospital damaged so badly

they set up a triage tent outside of it, because they can't treat patients inside. >> just waiting. we're still waiting. >> reporter: a doctor telling me fema's only brought them water so far. this is what's left of someone's home. you can see the windows completely blown out. the concern now, looters. someone writing "keep out" on their home. across the u.s. territory, the race to get the most basic of needs to the people more urgent than ever. but images like these, thousands of commercial shipping containers sitting in port are raising questions about how quickly much-needed supplies can be distributed. late today the white house defending the government's response. >> we have provided as many commodities as necessary to the island. it remains the priority today. >> reporter: and tonight, a key republican, senator marco rubio who visited the island this week writing an urgent letter to the president.
