you, 7:00 a.m., saturday, september 30. here's is look at the stories we're following for you on "action news." a man right now in grave condition fighting for his life after he was shot inside a car. it happened overnight. a community comes together following a shooting death of a man in chester county. after 8 months in the trump administration and thousands of dollars of private plane trips, secretary of health and human services, tom price is out of a job. outside we go to meteorologist chris sowers we turn our attention to the the

exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. i'm loving this fall weather. >> reporter: crisp and cool out here this morning. temperatures in the poconos down in the mid 40s. tomorrow morning there will be patchy frost with temperatures in the 0s, you have chilly stuff heading your way. 54 in allentown and reading. lancaster, same number. wilmington, 58. trenton, 54. every now and then we're picking up a breeze. every now and enit's on the lighter side. the winds become gusty this afternoon. right now we have wind sustained at 9 miles per hour. we are expecting gusts 15 to 25 miles per hour later this afternoon. satellite and radar there's a small little area of disturbance here, low pressure that's spinning its wheels across upstate new york binghamton and syracuse and albany and eastern new england. it will be far enough where we only see cloud cover. a spotty shower north of

how warm we get. delaware state police are certain fogger the driver and vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that -- delaware state police are looking for a driver and a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run. the woman died at the scene. her identity has not been released and there's description of the vehicle involved. a 20-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was shot in the back of the head in the wayne junction section of philadelphia. the victim was taken to einstein medical center put on life support. witnesses say they saw three gunmen running away from the scene. there's no word of a possible motive. one person was injured after a dozen shots were fired in wilmington, delaware overnight. police arrived on the scene on the 1200 block of lobdell street

after 1:00 a.m. a house and car were hit by the bullets. a man showed up at the hospital with gunshot injuries, no word about his condition. 7:04 a.m., a 6-year-old boy is recovering after being shot in philadelphia. the child was shot before 8:00 p.m. near 24th and knorr street. there's no word of any suspects. the boy was rushed to temple university hospital with a gunshot injury to his shoulder. he is listed in stable condition. a man is waking up behind bars in chester county this morning charged in the shooting death of a 20-year-old man thursday night. 21-year-old kian carpenter is being held without bail in phoenix bill charged with murdering joshua mitchell who was shot in the 200 block of

bridge street. he died at the hospital. a vigil was held in his honor on the same block where he was gunned down. several people were injured when a fire erupted at a three story condo complex in lakewood, ocean county. first responders rushed to help the people. they were among the injured. it happened at covington village. jeff chirico spoke to the people who escaped the fire. >> reporter: it was an emotional night as family members reunited with loved ones chased from there homes by fire. chopper 6 hd shows flames ripping through the roof of this three story condo building at covington village, a 5 and over community. >> you see the black smoke it was really black, wib -- within ten minutes, the flames were shooting up. >> reporter: joe heard a neighbor yelling and escaped his condo with little more than the clothing he was wearing. >> he said there's a fire in

the back of the building, i grabbed my wife and the keys and the phones and took off. >> reporter: while firefighters attacked the blaze from above, crews searched all 30 units. two police officers rescued a resident, three of them were hospitalized for smoke inhalation. four firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion another for a medical emergency. officials say the fire could have been worse. >> extremely lucky it didn't happen in the middle of the night, extremely lucky. >> reporter: meanwhile, red cross volunteers met with most of the 37 residents displaced by the fire. >> some will be staying with friends or family, but determining how many people may need lodging is how we'll base what to do next. >> reporter: with the roof and much of the third floor destroyed buildings manager and resident said she lost almost everything, but isn't giving up. >> we're strong we'll get through it, we'll rebuild. >> reporter: in all 37 people are homeless, the fire marshal

and the prosecutor's office are investigating this, so far no word on a cause as for the injuries, the firefighters and police were released from the hospital, but the one resident remains in the hospital with smoke inhalation. in lakewood, ocean county, jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> your time, 7:07 a.m. his crisis in puerto rico continues as residents deal with the craft of hurricane maria. the pentagon pointed a three star general to lead efforts on the island. crews are having a difficult time getting supplies to the victims who need the most. dann cuellar is in puerto rico with the problems residents continue to face. >> reporter: itit was a moment they had been waiting for a chance to get one bag of ice per person for two dollars badly

needed ice for medication and food. win hours they ran out. >> it's horrible here. the government is not saying what's going on here. >> reporter: the truth of the matter is, going into a convenience store running on generators you have to wait in line, whether it's gas for your vehicle or generation, or medication from the pharmacy you have to wait in line. >> we need help badly from the army, the coast guard, the navy, this is a devastation like a war. >> reporter: the truth is people are willing to pay huge amounts of money to fly out of the island if they can. >> they will pay ten thousand dollars to go to florida. >> i will, i will. >> but we cannot find a ticket. >> reporter: you can't find a ticket to get out? >> no. >> reporter: the national guard was directing traffic in the absence of traffic signals trying to bring order to chaos. trash trucks were picking up

trash since hurricane maria devastated parts of the island. some people were glad to hear the general was brought in to take charge. emergency response. we've learned that dover air force base sent a large c17 globe master 3 to puerto rico with 100,000 pounds of food and water. dover said it will continue to provide such relief as long as it is requested. in port reek co-, i'm dann cuellar channel 6 "action news." >> new jersey governor is doing his part to help out, governor chris christie has signed an executive order to have 1100 emergency responders help with recovery efforts for hurricane maria in puerto rico. that number includes national guard soldiers. a 13th trump administration official is out of a job. this time health and human

thank the low for the cooler air we're seeing this morning as it is driving this canadian air mass in from the northwest. it's going to pass on by from the north to the east. it will be close enough to provide us with a few clouds later this afternoon. we'll start out with sunshine this morning. the puffy cumulus clouds build by afternoon. mostly cloudy after lunchtime. one or two areas here pick up a spotty shower. future tracker by 4:00 p.m. mainly cloud skies with peeks of sun, one or two areas pick up a quick-hitting shower it wasn't amount to much. we'll be clear overnight tonight. tomorrow morning lows in the low to mid 40s. tomorrow is beautiful, bright blue skies and sunshine, temperatures rebounding in the upper 60s low 70s. here's the numbers, later this afternoon this particular model has us up to 66 today that's it. the western suburbs low 60s. it will be warmer than what it showing. you get the idea a far cry from

everyone, 7:25 a.m., saturday morning, the month of september coming to an end. what a whacky month this has been. it started out on the cooler side, the first two weeks we were in the 60s and 70s for the highs. temperatures were cooler than where they should have been. then we got into the warm stretch of weather from the 14th on, 15 straight days temperatures were above seasonal averages. now we're seeing the cooler weather return. the jet stream looks like this. all areas north of the line are consumer than normal. south of the line are warmer than normal. we have high pressure firmly in control bringing the fall-like feel to the mid atlantic states. this high works out to sea, winds shift again out of the south and southwest and it is going to start warming things

week, i'll have the details coming up in just a few minutes. gray? >> look forward to the update him. a man was killed in a crash on the schuylkill expressway near the city's tasker home section overnights. the crash happened at 1:00 a.m. in the westbound lanes of moore street. the man was driving a chevrolet envoy when he lost control. it flipped over. the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. no word on what caused the crash. in northern liberties section of philadelphia, a 32-year-old man in critical condition after being shot on the 300 block of water street. the victim was sitting in the passenger seat of the a cadillac when he was shot in the neck and the back. he was taken to hanheman hospital in critical condition. police are questioning the driver. delaware state police are searching for the person who shot a quick matter convenience store during an armed robbery. the masked suspect walked into

the store on south maryland avenue in wilmington just before 1:00 p.m. he demanded money and got into a fight with the clerk. the clerk was shot. suspect ran away. the clerk was taken to christiana hospital with non-life threatening injuries. a new jersey man who killed his 3-year-old son was sentenced to a decade behind bars. david creoato pleaded guilty in the death of his son brendan. nora muchanic has the details. >> reporter: he has a new look, the poney tail is gone, but he is still in a red jump suit and will be for years. he was sentenced to ten years behind bars in a plea deal for recklessly causing the death of his 3-year-old son brandon in 2015. a letter was read from his maternal grandmother.

dj creato's parents were in court, so was brendan's mother. the only thing creato said in court was the word no if he had anything to say. >> my grandson is not guilty. >> reporter: ma'am, he admitted it. >> he admitted to stopping -- well he took a plea bargain. >> reporter: brandon's mother and prosecutors refused to comment. the first trial ended in a hung jury. >> i took the plea bargain, my wife and and i and family and friends believe in his innocence. >> what he pleaded to was recklessly causing his son's death. that's a far cry from what he was charged with initially which was intentionally causing his

son's death. >> police charge a woman in the murder of a bucks county pharmaceutical executive. michael mcknew was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head on august 8. mcknew and morrisey liervegd liervegd -- lived together. according to documents he wanted her out of the home. she returned to the crime scene and tried to make it look like it was a robbery. 7:36 a.m., happening this morning, police in delaware county searching for two suspects involved in a violent robbery. take a look surveillance video from the fisher auto sales showing this violent crime in progress. it happened at 7:20 a.m. police say the victim was pistol

whipped by the suspect despite complying with the demands. the robbers ran off with several hundred dollars in cash. now to a disturbing investigation this coming from gloucester county, new jersey. where police are searching for the person who allegedly took a picture under a woman's skirt. surveillance video from the walmart in turnersville show the suspect walk up behind the victim with his phone. the victim told police she heard a camera shutter sound, that's when she confronted the man, but he turned around and left the store. if you know who the guy is, call police. septa will work object improvements to regional rail stations this will impact service for three straight sundays, take note, the work will adjust the schedules on lansdale, doylestown and warminster and west trenton regional rail lines.

looking at a beautiful shot, look at all the bright blue hear, the center city skyline. we'll start out with sunshine. the clouds build later this afternoon. part the reason the clouds increase, the air aloft, ten 15,000 feet, the air is to cold, the warm sun will produce puffy cumulus clouds. it will warm things up a little bit and warmer air condenses and voila you get the clouds. 54 degrees in allentown. 58 philadelphia. dover, 57. wilmington, a pair of 5s. satellite and radar there you go, there's the upper level low that's pushing on by to the east it's north of us. we're not expecting much out of the low outside a cloud cover. the trough i was talking about, the colder air aloft kind of has settled in like this. it's across the mid atlantic and the northeast. you get farther to the south

across the carolinas, they are not dealing with that, they will see sunshine there. for us, the clouds start buildings in over the next few hours. wider we go you can see what's going on here, the pattern is quiet. high pressure in control here. the tropics even though we don't have a named storm, the tropics are getting busy. lots of showers and thunderstorms developing off the east coast of florida. there's this in the gulf of mexico, both areas are areas of concern. national hurricane center is highlighting this area for possible development north and east of freeport in the bahamas, this area right here, counter clockwise swirl will dive to the south and move over the warmer waters of the carribean. history tells us if something develops here, nine out of ten times it heads north. these are two areas we have to watch closely over the next week to ten days.

high pressure in control, the little low i showed you on satellite and radar, it will hit the coast and drive in the cooler air today and hanging tough across the mid atlantic states tomorrow afternoon, as well. it won't be until wednesday and thursday, when the cooler air retreats into canada and starts warming up again future tracker 6, an isolated shower possible in the afternoon. one or two areas see the shower. overnight tonight it's clear, tomorrow looks absolutely lovely with clear skies and ton of sunshine. for today, morning sun, afternoon clouds, brisk and chilly, 65 degrees in reading. breezy. 67 in philadelphia. millville, 69. trenton, 64. allentown, 63. that's it for the high temperature today. same time last weekend we were in the 90s, a far cry from the weather we saw a week ago. overnight tonight, mighty chilly out there, 41 in allentown.
