of bullets to rescue total stringers. and joining us today are the many heroes here during that horrible moment. that horrible night. including las vegas metropolitan police officers tyler peterson and dannergerly. and officer peterson was on his second day on the job when the shooting began. i just visited him in the hospital. within minutes he joined a group of officers rushing between flying bullets to clear the fair ground and to save lives. offic officergerlay was off duty attending the concert. although she was unarmed as soon as the shooting began she threw on a yellow police vest and

began evacuating victims and aaron stalker a veteran, rushed to the scene to search for his loved ones but when he couldn't find one he began helping every person he could as he recounts we used the plastic barrier s gurneys to carry the injured. i used splints out of everything i could find and used anything to stop the horrible bleeding. among the wounded was the mother of aaron's girlfriend. she is still in the hospital and we are all pulling for her. to every hero we helped, every saved so many lives. and believe me a grateful name thanks you. the example of those whose final act was to sack fries themselves for those that they loved,

and needless to say it has attracted ours and a lot of other people's attention. we got our first close up look at the smashed out windows in receive paddock's mandalay bay suite. and police and the fbi still have a substantial presence just outside of the concert venue while the fbi continues to investigate inside. and then there is the memorial just a block away from the shooting scene. attracting not just americans but people of different nationalities and in different faiths. we spoke to a woman, a young woman that identified herself only as sam. she lost her cousin in the carnage. >> how is your family coping with this? >> it's hard. very hard. they don't know how to react. but we are getting through it. we are trying to be stronger and

be together every chance we can. and just trying to be one. >> reporter: it turns out that sam's cousin was a young man by the name of quenton robbins a student at the university of nevada las vegas and we were at unv earlier today talking to students about a number of things including the death of quenton robbins. we'll show you that story on "action news" at 5:00. >> jim, thank you. well country singer, jason aldean, who was on stage when the gun fire rang out in las vegas will not be performing this weekend and he canceled his concert scheduled for los angeles, anaheim and san diego out of respect for the victims and their families. he offered his condolences and he and his band are taking time to mourn those that lost their lives and to be close to their

loved ones. and he thanked his fans for the outpouring of love over the past few days. we continue to follow the latest on air and online. 6abc.com is your complete resource for coverage. there you find videos and photos from the scene and ways you can help. other news and here at home, a father is facing murder charges in bucks county now in connection with the death of his son. christopher coun is accused of stealing from a wal-mart and then causing a crash that kill that 2-year-old boy. we first told you about this story as breaking news at 4:00 yesterday and "action news" reporter gray hall is live at the scene of the crash in tully town and that father is jailed on $5 million bail. >> that is right. we are learning more about that suspect. we learned he does have a criminal past and we know in the past he has plead guilty to making terroristic threats. and now he is in more trouble and his 2-year-old son is dead

as a result. >> i can tell you right now he is in his own private hell and he will suffer and hold on to this the rest of his life. >> a family friend of christopher couns spoke to "action news" hours after he was accused of the unthinkable. >> his 2-year-old son kaden seen here is dead and they say it's all coun's fault. around noon tuesday he walked out a wal-mart in bucks county with stolen merchandise worth about $200, his child was with him during the alleged theft and coun tries to get away and put the 2-year-old in the suv and did not buckle him in and then disaster strikes, coun ran a red light and collided with another suv and his vehicle flipped and hit another car and his toddler was thrown from the suv and died from the injuries. >> no one knows what was going

through his mind. not to excuse what he did, he had a lot of problems. >> couns lives with his mother and their friends tell us she are stunned and heart broken and in deep grief. >> what is jaw dropping and that couns saw his son dying in the street and doing nothing. >> going over to the son that was not breathing on the roadway he was ejected from the vehicle and running away on foot. >> couns shared custody with the child's mother and was scheduled to pick him up at 8:00 p.m. at the night of the incident and now must bury her toddler because of the horrible decision made by his father. >> there is nothing he can say to explain what he did. >> back out live a heart breaking story we are not able to track down the child' mother. and tonight coun is locked up in jail as brian mentioned.

bail set at $5 million, and court date october 10th. channel 6 "action news." >> just an awful story, thank you. a bomb squad investigation in montgomery county turned out to be a false alarm. chopper 6 hd was over the police department as the investigators looked at a device left outside. a man brought what he thought was active explosives to the station and found them in his son's room and they were training devices belonging to the son who is currently in the military serving overseas and the bomb squad says the public was not in danger. >> there is no word on what caused an underground fire this morning. video shows the flames and smoke across from the walnut street theater. crews were called just before 9:00 this morning and peco says that 73 customers were impacted by this and walnut street was shut down at 9th street. still ahead on "action news"

the ac cam was in levitt town bucks county as students and staff walked to school at walter elementary. the police officers also joined in and their parents, for international walk to school day. once they got to class police hosted two assemblies to remind students how to stay safe around traffic and out riding their bikes. now to a music video with a powerful message and heart breaking lyrics, i pray to god please this shooting has to stop. three people just got killed on my block. those are the word of an elementary school student in wilmington. he is one of many children using music to express the violence and how to change it. students from bancroft elementary school has over 4,000 youtube views and climbing. the song is called my city needs something. >> it's suppose to help people.

make this world and city a better place and we really are also talking about how there is a lot of killing and here and we want it to stop. >> you look at someone the wrong way they are ready to fight or shoot you or something. i don't really understand. >> the young rappers are from bancroft and in an after school program run by the nonprofit children and families first. in an effort to help students deal with the alarming things they see, they called on the beyond the bars program. >> we feel like writing is therapeutic and a form of therapy. some students have not had this conversation with a therapist. >> they do respond to hip hop and along the way they learned -- >> the educational program using reading and writing and communication and character. beyond the bars means bars of music and beyond that is a lot of work.

post next in what's the deal. >> we begin with new details about the deadly double shooting on the streets of allentown and we know the names of two young men gunned down in broad daylight and we don't know why. lehigh valley correspondent walter perez talked to the people that knew the victims today. >> reporter: hey sharrie, investigators have a lot more questions than answers regarding this case and that goes double for the people that knew and loved the two young victims. >> a person you would like to know he was very special. >> tonda is talking about keith minik along with richard vera jr. murdered in broad daylight yesterday afternoon at the corner of 4th and washington streets. she says that minik was treating her niece but treated her relatives like family. >> he was a decent guy and loyal

to everybody. that he loved even me. >> friends and family are saying much of the same about richard vera jr. aleesa rodriguez says she can't imagine the motive. >> someone that was always happy and brought joy to you, never wantsed to see anyone down. >> allentown police are searching for the person or people responsible. they are remembering a happy go lucky young man that had a lot of live for. >> he loved to play basketball with his family and has an unborn on the way. and it's just sad. >> reporter: so far right now no motives or suspects in this case and witnesses say they saw two people run from the scene. this is the second murder case in allentown in broad daylight in the last two weeks.

reporting live in allentown, walter perez, channel 6 "action news." >> walter, thank you. now to the latest on the investigation into sunday's mass shooting in las vegas. the president and first lady, melania trump arrived in the city today meeting with survivors and their families and first responders. investigators are working to figure out what drove stephan paddock to carry out the assault that killed 58 people. there was cause for joy, haden hasser was separated from his mother and they took his picture and posted on social media and that led to a tearful reunion. >> i lost her and it's just me and my aunt and i didn't know where my sister was and didn't know where to run. >> i saw my son come out of the garage door and i dropped to me knees and he ran as hard as he

could to me. >> aiden's mom is seeking counseling to help aiden process what happens. and is happy he was not physically harmed. >> the conk of the tragedy will continue throughout the evening. we'll have more on the victims and the president's visit coming you tonight on "action news." fire investigators are trying to determine if a high school student's cell phone ignited at school this morning. chopper 6 hd was over northern burlington county regional high school. the fire marshall was called to the mansfield building for a report of a trash can on fire with a cell phone inside of it. officials are not sure if the phone overheated and was tossed in the bin or the trash can was set on fire first but nobody was hurt. people are trying to get sick of hearing us say this but another beautiful day outside. >> i'm not tired of it yet. lets go to meteorologist, adam joseph.
