bloomquist is off and in the news questions remain on why a man opened fire on a las vegas concert as the investigators unveil the potential plans to target other events. and two men have died following two separate shootings and the search continues for the gunman. >> the big story on "action news" is breaking news in bethlehem township. where a murder suspect is now in custody following a standoff with police. chopper 6 hd was over the scene where police blocked off a portion of oakland and hecktown road prompting the lockdown of nearby schools. police arrested a man suspect the in the death of a husband and wife last night. gray hall is live with the latest. >> reporter: it appears that this situation is resolved.

three schools placed on lockdowns and that has been lifted and the suspect is in custody and any minute we expect an update from police. >> police warned this location if bethlehem township that officers were engaged with a lockdown situation with a man if his car. he is identified as 61-year-old john hand. not long after it started it ended. and police took the suspect in custody. it's believed he is connected to a double shooting of a husband and wife. it left the husband dead and the wife in the hospital recovering from gunshot injuries. it happened in the cherry hill section of lehigh township. it appears that they have located him and now investigators must sort out the details and figure out a mostive for the crime. >> back out live we are again

waiting for an update from police and the suspect is in custody at state police headquarters here behind me. we are waiting to learn more about the individual and the crime he is accused of. live in bethlehem, gray hall, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. within the hour chopper 6 hd was over the 6500 block of theodore street in southwest philadelphia. where a 17-year-old boy is arrested following a brief barricade situation. they saw the teenager with a gun on the highway. and spotted running insized a building where he refused to come out and the teen has since surrendered and is in police custody. turning now to the las vegas mass shooting, investigators do not know why a man opened fire at a crowded couldn't certificate. killing 58 and injuring 480 others and they learned that the gunman may have

planned a different attack and may have had help. >> they now believe that the gunman may have been planning a get away and after analyzing his cell phone and computer and interviewing his girlfriend. they are still no closer to figuring out his motive. investigators are delving into the elaborate planning of sunday night's attack in las vegas. say that it's possible that gunman stephan paddock had help. >> it's possible that individual could move this gear in a hotel room unassisted. >> he was seen with a woman in his final days after they question his girlfriend marylou danley. after reading a statement she wrote denying any knowledge. >> he never said anything to me or took any action that i was aware of that i understood in any way as a warn that something

horrible like this would happen. >> they are looking into the possible that paddock may have planned to attack earlier and booked hotel rooms in august during the lollapalooza festival. and he had a hotel room at a concert last week. and among them jesus compose, the security guard the first to approach the hotel room the gunman shooting him through the door. >> his bravery was amazing because he remained with our officers providing them the key pass to access it's door and actually continued to help them clear rooms until our officer demanded he go seek medical attention. >> he says he was just doing his job and doing okay. today more than 150 others injured in the attack are still hospitalized. channel 6 "action news." and we continue to follow the latest from las vegas on air

sunshine mixing with clouds and 81 degrees and up to 82 at 4:00, your high is 83 and coming down from that at 6:00. 78 under partly cloudy skies at 8:00 and 72 at 10:00, no more of those cool crisp mornings, it will continue to be mild in the overnight hours. and we are slowly increasing the dew points as well. the dew points sitting at 58 degrees in philadelphia. once you hit 60 and it feels 60 it is hinting at it. 60 in reading and 59 in wilmington and 65 degree dew point in dover and 62 in millville and humid in cape may, and 66 degrees and the due points are on the rise. and what else is on the rise a chance for rain and tropical system that gives us the threat. we'll talk about that in a few minutes. in other news philadelphia police continue to investigate two triple shootings that killed two men and injured four others late last night. the first one on the 1500 block

of south stanley street at 8:30, authorities say that 18-year-old rodney copeland jr. was shot in the chest where he later died a 20-year-old and 21-year-old were also shot. the 21 is in stable condition and it's 20-year-old was treated and released. it's unclear at this time what sparked the shooting and so far to arrests have been made. two hours later in the strawberry mansion section shots rang out in the 2500 block of north dover street. and a 23-year-old man was shot in the chest and back and legs and later died at temple hospital and officers found a 7-year-old shot several tiles and both victims were taken to temple hospital in stable condition. there is no no motive or arrest in this case. a busy section of the schuylkill expressway was closed for several hours overnight following a deadly crash

involving a motorcycle, it collided with a car in the eastbound lanes of the schuylkill at west passyunk avenue in university city at 3:00 this morning. airport police on routine patrol spotted the crash and called the authorities, the schuylkill was shut down for five hours. and cleared the roadway. causing a big backup for miles. no word yet though for what caused the crash. >> a change in leadership coxing to new jersey. for the race for governor of new jersey in the home stretch. 6 abc is pleased to host the debate with the candidates. phil murphy and kim guadagno. and go to twitter and use #~ njgov debate. and here is the story making

meteorologist, karen rogers, is here now with a closer look at the accuweather forecast. again we are feeling like summer out there. >> wearing pants and flip-flops. >> yes, i am. wearing shorts at home. especially when you have see through glasses. >> some people may like it. stormtracker 6 live double scan showing us we are dry right now and could see a shower later on north and west of the city and i'll show you that in a minute. lets go outside and show what you it looks like we see a bit more cloud cover out and about as we look at sky 6 hd live over the commodore barry bridge getting the sunshine filtering through but not the crystal clear skies we have seen over the past few days and wow has it warmed up. temperature 76 degrees and the humidity is going up a notch over the weekend. and winds from the west vest and

bringing up warm and moist air mass. the ocean temperature is 68. and here we are getting a good amount of cloud cover and watching the showers to the west they are moving into areas especially north and west of the city. and get a better view of the front from this satellite. pressure is down to the south and fighting the front off. spilling clouds and showers as well. especially if you are in lehigh valley and the poconos. you'll watch for a chance of showers coming through they are quickly in and out. with a front lingering a shot of showers north and west. at 11:30, maybe one or two sprinkles, the rest of us staying dry and clearing out tomorrow. partly sunny skies today a bit more cloud cover and 83 and we see a high of 70. 2:00, 81 degrees and 4:00 the high of 83 and 6:00, 78 and

north and west watching for a shower and 8:00, 74 and 72 under partly cloudy skies at 10:00. we are watching for the stray shower and mild 66 for the overnight low. none of those cool crisp mornings that you may have liked. temperatures staying 10 to 15 degrees above average not just today but the next few days. it shifts to the east and early next week we get a plume of tropical moisture, 1 to 3 inches of rain and we need some rain and it is come our way. because of tropical storm nate. and currently the wins sustained at 40 miles per hour. over eastern nicaragua moving over to the caribbean and looks to be a category one hurricane and making landfall between louisiana and florida and we get moisture from that. it will no longer be a tropical system and 83 and a shower.
