we were asking both folks, both the people in oaks and langhorn what steps they could take that society could take that would lessen the impact of mass shootings or at least the number of mass shootings. the folks at the oaks gun show says that's a connun drum they can think of no simple answers. what you just heard there could be steps that congress could and should take. live in langhorn, john rawlins. in other news, a school district is reportedly dealing with mold. yesterday the health hazard forced the board to shut down holly glen elementary. today some parents were moving their children from class at williamstown middle school after she go those photos on facebook showing mold on the ceiling tiles. bob brooks will have more on the latest concern from parents.

>> in delaware tonight police are trying to figure out the motive for a stabbing that happened inside a home in wilmington. one person was stabbed multiple times and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. it happened around 7:00 this morning along the 200 block of garden court. police say they took one person into custody but they have yet to announce charges. >> we're heading into an unusually hot and humid fall weekend as we look live outside sky 6 showing you the penn's landing on a friday evening. the sunny and warm conditions will last a few more days for us but early next week our weather is expected to change thanks to another tropical storm. meteorologist cecily tynan tracking the weather. >> our weekend starts warm and it will be ending wet. right now you can see the high temperatures so far 81 degrees in philadelphia. that's 11 degrees above average. we've got winds out of the southwest.

if you look to the southwest you can see temperatures even warmer there. in the mid 80s that's the air mass that rolls in tomorrow with milky white skies. it's not going to be a bright and sunny saturday and then we get some tropical moisture from this. this is tropical storm nate. it actually has intensified. sustained winds up to 60 miles per hour. it's moving through the yucatan channel right now and even though it's only a tropical storm, this system has been blamed for 20 fatalities in central america due to the mudslides from all that rain. what will happen with nate, it heads into the gulf of mexico over the warm waters. it likely will strengthen to a category 1 hurricane making landfall near new orleans early sunday morning, saturday night and that remnant moisture will stream up to the mid atlantic. and we're looking at a pretty good soaking on monday. so this is what to expect. that steady rain arriving probably showers for the eagles game, 1-2 inches, locally up to

3 inches. could cause some ponding on roads. i don't expect any creek or river flooding. >> we're getting a better look at the damage tropical storm nate has already caused after drenching central america with heavy rain. at least 22 deaths are blamed on the storms. seven of them in costa rica. residents along the gulf coast are stocking up on emergency supplies. officials have declared states of emergency and they've ordered some coastal residents to evacuate. >> reporter: once again residents who call the gulf coast home racing for another serious storm. tropical storm nate already claiming more than 20 lives in central america. that storm following two weeks of near constant rain there. the entire region on alert for floods and landslides. forecasters predicting nate will

go stronger making landfall saturday night as a category 1 hurricane. officials in florida, alabama, mississippi, louisiana all declaring states of emergency. >> it has become clear that alabama, especially on our coast, will experience some of the worst conditions from this storm. >> reporter: after an already devastating hurricane season, locals are hunkering down clearing store shelves, electric companies performing necessary checks. >> there is no reason to panic but there is reason to prepare. >> reporter: in new orleans where the memory of katrina is still fresh, residence there taking no chance. >> this is not my first rodeo. i've lived here all my life so i know what to do. >> it should be all right right here. but i lost my boat with contact -- katrina. >> reporter: national guard troops headed to new orleans to monitor the pumping system there and even though back-to-back

from trenton new jersey tonight chopper 6 over the scene of a deadly shooting here. sometime after 3:00 this afternoon, two victims, a 58-year-old woman and a 14-year-old girl were both shot and were rushed by a private car to capital health regional medical center. the 58-year-old woman died from her injuries. no word yet on her identity. the 14-year-old child is in stable condition. at this time no arrests or motive for the shooting, but the investigation is under way. still trying to determine if the two victims were actually related. the mercer county homicide task force is investigating. of course we'll keep you posted on this breaking news story from trenton, new jersey. >> let's check that accuweather forecast. >> cecily tynan here with the details as the return to summer but we'll also have a little

precipitation which we need. >> we desperately need. we start warm and humid. we endless this weekend. a lot of clouds head over to the action news weather center. take a look at the center city skyline we're sha roaded in clouds and even tomorrow i don't think we'll have the blue skies and sunshine like earlier in the week. kind of that milky white sky. tonight it's a friday night look at these temperatures. 6:00 we start close to 80 degrees and right up to midnight temperatures will be holding in the 70s so it's certainly a warm friday night. really don't need a jacket tonight. and the weekend, saturday better than sunday. both days will be very humid. saturday again those high, thin clouds much the afternoon high about 84 degrees. dew points will be in the 60s. that 84 will feel closer to 84 degrees. 79 degrees and could have a shower any time during the day but that steady rain will be

holding off until sunday night. so right now the temperature show you it doesn't feel like fall. 80 degrees in philadelphia, earlier we hit 81 degrees. that's 11 degrees above normal at the atlantic city airport. wilmington 80. allentown 78. even in the poconos it's 71 degrees. still feeling like summer. satellite and radar showing we still have this frontal boundary that's just drifting to our north. it's a cold front but it's not coming through. it's washing out but this is really the focus of the cloud cover. some of the showers there's another cold front that will be moving in on sunday night and that will bring us that steadier rain. future tracker showing sunday morning, lots of clouds and again a scattering of showers. if you're heading to the eagles game you'll probably see some showers, no steady rain on and off a few showers, by 4:00 a little bit more areas to the north and you can see the heavy rain associated with that cold front. and that pushes in late sunday night and what this front helps

nuclear weapons. >> reporter: the president's comments could also be referring to iran. sources tell abc news that the president plans to decertify the land marc iran deal next week saying the 2015 agreement no longer satisfies u.s. security interests. in washington, channel 6 action news. >> to the latest from puerto rico now. a bipartisan group of senators will travel to island tomorrow to survey the damage from hurricane maria. the lawmakers will also see how relief efforts are going. the government is spending nearly $200 million a day for the response. and in the coming weeks congress will likely put our $29 million disaster aid package insurance claims the death toll stands at 34. most residents are still without electricity. >> meantime dozens of new jersey state troopers left for puerto rico to help lend a hand with

professionals. it's the least we can do to go down and help those folks in puerto rico. we know all too well how that affects people. >> in just the last month new jersey has sent people and resources to florida, texas, south carolina and the virgin islands. but more than a thousand people including these troopers are headed to puerto rico. >> when sandy hit us five years ago we took in a lot of other outside state law agencies now we're returning the favor. >> the deployment is expected to last about two weeks and then another group will be rotated in to replace these troopers. i'm nora muchanic, channel 6 action news. >> a tractor-trailer caused a huge mess in newcastle this morning. chopper 6 was over the scene shortly after it happened around 10:00 a.m. investigators say the tractor-trailer collided with a car. one person suffered minor injuries but the crash caused a fuel spill. that forced authorities to shut down the road for cleanup.

it is now reopened. no word yet who is at fault here. investigators are trying to find out how a fire started in a church in the grays ferry section of the city early this morning. it happened around 3:30. crews arrived to find hefty smoke coming from the building. they tracked the fire to the basement and they were able to get it under control. there was no one inside at the time and no one was injured. >> police officers and firefighters were honored today in will ming done during the city's annual blue mass. several fallen firefighters were also honored. today's mass was held at st. elizabeth church. the philadelphia fire department has received a $1 million grant from fema to purchase and install smashing alarms in homes. the mayor and commissioner made the announcement today at the fireman's hall in old city. the smoke alarms will also

pentagon officials say a fourth service member has been killed in an attack in niger. the body of that fourth soldier was found after an extensive search. officials say dozens of extremists in vehicles and on motorcycle fired grenades and machine guns at the soldiers. the soldiers were leaving a meeting with tribal leaders when they were attacked. harvey weinstein is taking a leave of absence from his own

this cold front is waiting in wings and that will do is help steer some of the moisture from nate up our way late on sunday and monday. but during the day on sunday we could have a shower essentially any time during the day. tropical humidity with dew points in the 70s and lots of clouds. and again definitely on the warm side with a high of 79. tropical storm nate right now is really moving right through the yucatan channel. it has strengthened, it's moving quickly west northwest at 21 miles per hour. once it moves into the gulf of mexico with warm water away from land, it likely will become a hurricane. a category 1 hurricane making landfall near eastern louisiana
