on 6abc.com and on action news at 11:00. increasing concern among parents in monday crow township, gloucester county tonight after one school is closed due to mold. it looks like the problem could be spreading. first it was the elementary school and now parents are fearing a mold problem at the middle school. many showed up to get their children today while others are posting pictures these. >> we're talking about the health of children, so needless to say this is a big time issue, one that needs to get rectified as soon as possible. you can clearly see these ceiling tiles are saturated wit.

mother candy smith echos the sentiment of so many today. >> i'm heartbroken that he has to lose time from school. >> reporter: pictures were posted to a facebook group. mold clearly a problem for the school district right now. this morning holly glen elementary was abruptly shut down. a report came back the school's mold levels were too high. classes there are canceled until further notice. as we went through out the day interviewing families at both schools, we found a disturbing similarity. >> she spent the first week going to the doctors i can't breathe, her eyes were so bloodshot i really thought she was literally going to start bleeding from the eyes. my child has asthma. she's on allergy medication.

officials say a worker was killed while operating a steel press. as investigators continue to come through evidence at the site of the las vegas mass shooting, authorities say they still do not have a clear motive for the rampage. police have been scrutinizing the gunman's personal life, political affiliation, economic situation and any potential radicalization. though isis has claimed responsibility for the attack, so far there's no evidence of the terrorist organization's role. debate over gun control laws. john rawlins is live with more on that hot topic. john? >> reporter: well, debate over the limits of gun rights versus gun controls has been reenergized given what's happened. we made two stops today to talk to people about the situation. a rally about gun violence and we were outside a weekend gun show in oaks.

tonight at 10:00 right here channel 6. we have an an alert for drivers tonight the southbound lanes of route 1 to i-76 west. ramp is scheduled to stay closed until 6:00 tomorrow morning. penn dot is making a repair. the work was originally scheduled for tomorrow but was moved up late this afternoon. drivers are being directed to use 76 east to the montgomery drive exit where they can then go westbound on the schuykill expressway. scary moments for a 6-year-old child who went missing for two hours after a school bus driver dropped him off at the wrong stop. the boy was found safe and sound fortunately, but his parents are trying to understand what happened and why. action news reporter gray hall has the story tonight. >> reporter: shi van is holding her son tighter. the school bus driver dropped

off her special needs son at the wrong bus stop. >> as soon as i saw him i picked him up and i grabbed him and i said where were you and you know what his words were? the policeman rescued me. he's not really sure what happened. he just knows something happened. >> reporter: a good samaritan spotted marcus wandering all alone. >> he's special needs he wasn't able to communicate and she simply called the cops and they put two and two together and they brought us back together. >> reporter: simmons said the school assured her that marcus got on to the bus. she called the bus company and they said they had no idea what happened to her son. she said the employs were rude. >> not only am i upset that he's gone, but the company that had him couldn't care less. she even hung up on me. >> we called and went by their offices but we're told the bus company had no comment. we've learned from the philadelphia school district has a manifest.

it appears that policy was not followed in this case. in a statement the district says our office of transportation has been in touch with the family about the incident and we will continue to work with our bus vendors, bus drivers and schools to ensure our students' safe arrival after school. sim ones is hoping no other parent has to relive her nightmare and that her story will produce changes with school bus policy when it comes to letting kids off the bus. >> i just sat in my car and cried. >> everyone is thankful marcus is okay. his mother says he will not be riding the bus again and as for that good samaritan she does not know who you are, but she says thank you. reporting in north philadelphia, gray hall, channel 6 action news. >> philadelphia sheriff's office became the first in pennsylvania to implement progressive transgender guidelines. lgbt members joined sheriff joe williams as he signed the policy for interacting with transgender individuals. the directive aims to ensure that people are treated with

leaders broke ground on a $75 million project. vernon odom was there and reports the eastern tower community center will offer something for everyone. >> reporter: a moment of triumph and celebration for chinatown. a groundbreaking ceremony for what will be the 20-story eastern tower community center. a $75 million project. chinatown's leaders are calling it an urban renewal milestone. it took years for them to arrange the financing. >> 20 story, 150 units of housing. 30,000 square foot of retail commercial space and it's our first community center in china town. >> the land here on the north side of vine at 10th has long been vacant. now the hope is the center will spur much more development in this part of town. where gentrification is being encouraged but so far has not

been at a rapid pace like other sections of philadelphia. >> the financial structure of this deal is incredibly complex and difficult, versus various sources of equity debt to it. so we certainly went through a lot of learning to put this project together. >> this project alone generates $23 million a year in economic development, 900 jobs from this development. it just means more people will come and live in chinatown. we're going to be even more diverse because this is going to be a destination neighborhood. >> for residents and business people here, this diverse development is a ray of light. >> i see chinatown keep on developing. i'm very happy to see this is a great landmark for next step of chinatown. >> completion is expected to take 26 months. grand opening projected right around the christmas holidays of 2019. i'm vernon odom, channel 6

action news in chinatown. >> an internationalally known pianist is giving back to philadelphia schools in a big way. gram any nominated lang lang visit visited thomas home elementary school. he announced a grant. it will build a state of the art lab and provide a curriculum at three elementary schools over the next six years. 5-year-old sadie perry of delaware chose to use her birthday to put smiles on the faces of kids who are in the hospital. she asked her guests to be art supplies instead of gifts. sadie collected over 100 items and today she and her mom elizabeth hand delivered them. >> she loves art and we thought no better way to share her love than collect something.

so it will be on the muggy side with filtered sunshine, a lot of high clouds on sunday the clouds thicken, could have a shower any time during the day. the high drops down to 79 degrees those dew points rise up to the low 70s. really tropical humidity some sunday and it gets wet sunday night into monday. right now temperatures dropping into the 70s after a high of 82 degrees in philadelphia. currently 79. allentown and reading 75. satellite and radar showing several different things happening. first of all we have a cold front stalled to the north. we've got another cold front out across the plains states and what that will do is help pick up what will likely be hurricane nate. you will see the outer bands beginning to hit the coast. it's moving very quickly to the north northwest 21 miles per hour heading through the yucatan channel and once it hits the

gulf of mexico it likely will get stronger as a category 1 hurricane making landfall saturday night someplace close to new orleans, perhaps southern mississippi, and then the remnants streaming up to the northeast right into the mid atlantic on monday. and even sunday night we're looking at some of that heavy rain. so this is what to expect. sunday night through monday, 1-2 inches of much-needed rain. locally could get as much as 3 inches. could cause ponding on roads but not expecting any flooding issues as far as creeks and rivers. we really do need that rain. future tracker showing if you're doing any tailgating on sunday for the eagles game, lots of clouds and there will be a spotty shower any time during the day but that steady rain will be holding off until late sunday night and again on monday as we get the remnants of nate. so the exclusive accuweather forecast, it's warm and humid, filtered sunshine, lots of clouds on sunday. sunday night and monday, this is when we get periods of rain, heavy at times for columbus day.
