schools in monroe township are closed for the rest of the week. that emergency meeting we mentioned starts tonight at 7 o'clock at williamstown high school. "action news" will bring you latest as it unfolds. >> a tragic crash this weekend took the life of four neighbors in gloucester township. two other victims are hospitalized with serious injuries after the vehicles collided head on. "action news" reporter vernon odom is live now near the scene of the crash with some very latest details for us this afternoon. vern. >> reporter:. >> reporter: good afternoon. witnesses don't have any idea what happened nobody saw it. the results are very tragic. police have not been able to determine exactly why it happened. gloucester township gloucester township police still trying to determine why the cars crashed head on into each

other killing four including both drivers, two other passengers remain hospitalized tonight in critical condition. >> it was a head-on collision. i'm not able to row lease yet what vehicle crossed the road and there's no indication if texting was involved. >> reporter: police identified the driver of the tan camry as 53-year-old richard mason of windows township. he was alone in his car. he was a widower who relatives say was on his way to a meeting. >> he was a good person. he took in rescued animals. he loved his wife. >> reporter: he lost her. >> lost her to cancer. they were always going for, you know, charities and stuff like that. >> reporter: the driver of car number two the blue camry was 43-year-old panagioti ramoundos also from wins dough township. ;, winslow township. two other passengers in a

ramoundos car perished 80-year-old anastasi ya' ramoundos and live in gloucester township new jersey, i'm learn vernon odom channel6 "action news." >> now to accuweather as we deal with the rain. it's a gray soggy day truth be told and we need this. >> i like the positive bright side here. let's go to meteorologist melissa magee in for adam joseph with more on how long this rain is going to stick around. >> a lot of heavy rain is starting to lift off to in our north and east.

as we look at storm tracker6 live double scan radar 3-d you can see heavy rainfall expressing into new england. a few leftover showers across the delaware and lehigh valley. this was much needed rain. we picked up two-thirds of an inch of rain so far today. we had temperatures a bit 8.2 degrees above average so it was dry across our area. the precipitation that fell today was something that was warranted. as you look at the rainfall so far, we picked up a little more than a half inch in trenton, very small amounts to the south and east but heavier amounts to the north and west with more than a quarter of an inch for reading and also an inch and a quarter reported in the poconos. despite the moisture, it was pretty warm. right now in philadelphia we're coming in at 79 its 90 in memphis and 96 in dallas texas at this hour. future tracker6 showing you as we get into tomorrow afternoon we'll trade in the wet conditions for warmer

a double digit lead. he's not taking anything for granted as he faces off against this political veteran. republican kim guadagno is new jersey's first lieutenant governor, a former county sheriff and federal prosecutor she's also served as secretary of state during the two christie administrations. the centerpiece of her campaign is a promise to cut $1.5 billion in property taxes annually by giving homeowners a credit of up to $3,000 if they're paying more than 5 percent of their income towards school taxes. >> my plan addresses those who need the most help now, senior citizens shouldn't have to pay more than 5 percent of their household income. that guarantees they can stay in the state where they raised their families. >> reporter: phil murphy is an exgoldman sachs banker who was the finance chair for the democratic committee and served as ambassador to germany during the obama administration. his plan is to raise taxes from the state's wealthiest residents while closing corporate loopholes and taxing marijuana assume, it becomes

the side but not before it impacted the westbound travel time. over a half hour. it should be less than half that as you come out of the city on the westbound side, still some speeds like 7 miles per hour there by girard avenue. we also had two earlier accidents along 95. one was southbound between academy and cottman, now gone the other southbound in chester near 320 also now gone but still slow as you come down from philadelphia international airport in that normally busy spot. in trenton we're watching a crash this afternoon blocking one lane along 29 northbound at 129 canal boulevard. and in new castle a serious wreck along 141 by 273. that's not far away from where a new construction closure took effect today. it's the 141 bridge over route 13 now blocked for about a month and a half. so 273 and churchman's road can get you around. let's grab the ipad check your ways home with the waze

20,000 people have been evacuated. 14 fires are burning across eight counties including napa, sonoma and yuba the fire started around 10 o'clock last night and right now fire officials say as many as 14 fires are burning with the flames sweeping through entire and communities, some area hospitals have been evacuated. right now officials say they are just simply concentrating on saving lives but when it comes to battling these bazes they've launched an air attack. >> that is the top priority for this department to get the airy sources in here to assist us because as of right now with these conditions we can't get in front of this fire. >> this is something i see on tv but now i'm in it. >> we saw the glow in the sky and we started to pack up. >> and they're safely evacuated but the images are surreal. some are watching their homes simply burn to a crisp on television as they evacuate as well, others now picking up

the pieces of what's left behind but again, one person is dead, two seriously hurt in these wildfires that continue to burn at this hour in california. brian. >> and we'll continue to watch that. alicia thank you. the white house has rolled out a list of demands it says congress must agree to before the president agrees to shield young immigrants from deportation. president trump told lawmakers that he wants among other things a guarantee that a massive border wall will be built. without that he says he won't sign any bill that restores protections for some 800,000 immigrants. democrats have already scoffed at that idea, some of them openly saying that a border wall is "off the table." >> another death linked to the florida nursing home where power was knocked out because of hurricane irma. a 14th patient passed away today. the 90-year-old has been in hospice care since the incident. multiple investigations are actly what happened at the rehabilitation center at hollywood hills. workers failed to evacuate

patients days after the storm. the nursing home shut down two and a half weeks ago. >> thousands of people across the country are starting to clean up from yet another hurricane. nate slammed into the gulf coast as a category one. it made landfall twice over the weekend first hitting louisiana, then mississippi. heavy rains and storm surge caused flooding but the hurricane quickly downgraded to a tropical depression. now the fema administrator says the multiple destructive storms are taking a toll on that agency. >> nearly 85 percent of my agency is deployed right now. we're working massive issues in harvey irma as well as the issues in puerto rico and the virgin islands and now this one. >> now the u.s. is still air dropping supplies to hardest hit remote villages in puerto rico. the coast guard released this is video showing a rescue swimmer being lowered to deliver food and water to residents below. >> to business and a look at the day's closing numbers. all indices down today, the dow jones losing 12, nasdaq

landing, it's cloudy, it's a pretty miserable start to our work week with all of the moisture overhead. in fact, looking at storm tracker6 live double scan radar we're still tracking a little bit of moisture left over. wall pop this out full so we can get a better look as to what you're leaking at here. the showers off to the north and west. we'll go in tighter on street level, you can see green lane, route one even into flemington we've got light precipitation overhead. all of this will depart as we go throughout the rest of the evening hours. it's 79 in philadelphia, 78 in allentown, 82 in lancaster. down in dover we're coming in at 81 degrees. but the dewpoint numbers are still pretty uncomfortable. any time you have dewpoint temperatures at 70 or higher it is quite oppressive. as were he go throughout the day tomorrow the dewpoint numbers will start to lower and it feels a little better outside. satellite6 along with action

radar showing you all of that heavy rain from what was left of nate now pressing into new england so things are starting to clear up and dry out across all of the delaware and lehigh valleys but this is where i think we can come to a bit of a compromise about the weather. you swing off to the south and west across the four corners denver right now getting hit with snow in fact early season snow. they typically get snow about october 18th so they are a little bit ahead of schedule. with the snow comes wind and wind chills. look at these wind chill numbers, 45 in bismarck, 28 in casper and feels like 23 degrees in denver, colorado. so, yes, it's warm and sticky here but i don't know i think i can wait for winter to hold off just a little bit. back here at home across the delaware and lehigh valleys early shower then clouds break. we'll drop off to 68 in philadelphia, it's 63 in allentown and 67 degrees in dover. as we go throughout the day tomorrow, warm with lower humidity. 69 at 8:00 a.m. and as we get into lunchtime tomorrow, 77. we'll be maxing out once again

in the lower 80's across the region. the exclusive accuweather four day at 4:00 showing you it's warm tomorrow, lower humidity in the afternoon high temperature at 83. on wednesday, mostly cloudy, a couple of showers overhead and it's 75. we're stuck with an easterly wind on thursday so cloudy and cool high temperature at 68 and breaks of sunshine as we get into friday with a high temperature coming in at 74 degrees. so we'll trade the wet with brighter skies and lower humidity by tuesday, brian. and no snow. >> all right. >> and i'll take that. i like that meeting of the minds melissa. philadelphia's fox chase section. >> reporter: this stretch of pine road was closed for several hours this morning as police gathered evidence after a woman in her 80's was struck by a car. >> such a sweet, sweet person. >> reporter: an 84-year-old woman struck by car in fox chase. her walker left behind on the ground. police say she was hit around 4:30 this morning while crossing on the 8,000 block of pine road. neighbors say likely on her daily trip to the nearby dunkin donuts which opens at four a -- 4:00 a.m. >> she's there when it opens and she's there every morning i hear the walker. >> reporter: inside the dunkin donuts that's anita waiting for her friend. she soon began to worry something was wrong. >> she comes in early and i noticed she wasn't here. >> reporter: she heard the impact but didn't know what it was. >> i heard a car slam or something and something said,

ooh, god, i hope nothing happened to her. >> reporter: police say the driver of the chevy malibu turned the corner and stopped on dalton street nearby then immediately returned saying he thought he struck a deer. the driver was taken into custody for suspected dui. the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. police are looking for surveillance footage. they also want to hear from you if you have any tips. in fox chase katherine scott, channel6 "action news. >> first responders had to pry the doors off a smashed suv to rescue a woman in new castle delaware. "action news" was at the scene at the intersection of commons boulevard and airport road. that's where the victim was t-boned by a car around 2:30 this afternoon. police say the woman was making a u-turn when she was hit. fortunately her injuries are not life-threatening. the other driver was not seriously hurt. we're still waiting to hear if either will be charged with anything. meanwhile police in gloucester township are still trying to figure out why two cars collided yesterday evening killing four and seriously injuring two others.

it happened just off sicklerville road less than 2 miles from where both drivers lived. the victims have been identified as 53-year-old richard mason and three members of the ramoundos family. 43-year-old panagioti 83-year-old anastasia and 77-year-old demetrius. two passengers survived but both are lifted in critical condition. police are asking anyone who witnessed please come forward. >> philadelphia police looking for a group of men accused of chasing a stranger down a center city street and then attacking him. investigators say this woman accused the victim of bumping into her at the 7-eleven near 15th and j.f.k. back on september 13th. now police say that woman then got several men to attack the customer as he left the store punching and kicking him. the assailants initially stole the victim's phone but he got it back when one of the men dropped it while running away. if you have any information on the attack you're asked to contact central detectives. a firefighter had to be hospitalized for minor burns

he sustained while fighting a house fire in port richmond. the flames broke out late last night in the 2800 block of cedar street. the home was badly damaged. there were no injuries to anyone else at the scene. >> our day full of rain may have caused a tree to come crashing down in the east mount airy section of philadelphia. this is a scene on the unit block of montana street near germantown avenue. the huge trunk fell rit in front of two parked cars. the vehicles didn't take a direct hit but smaller branches landed on their hoods as you can see. luckily no one in the area was hit. the street was blocked off until crews could get there and they're still waiting to get the trees removed. >> as you can see in that video lots of rain falling across the region today. >> absolutely. kind of a little miserable out there. meteorologist melissa magee in for adam with a check of the accuweather forecast. it's starting to dry out just a bit. >> yeah, that's right. we'll show you what's going on as we look at the temperatures

that his identity was stolen. stephen paddock's brother eric is now in to try to help investigators figure out his motive. >> meanwhile police in texas are still searching for a toddler who disappeared after being left alone in a coyote infested alley as a punishment. this is three-year-old sharin matthews. she has not been seen since 3 a.m. saturday. this child's father wesley matthews admitted he forced her to go outside and stand by a tree alone for not drinking her milk. matthews told police when he came back 15 minutes later his daughter was gone. investigators say he didn't report her missing until 8 o'clock the next morning. matthews has now been charged with child endangerment. fallout continues from the sexual harassment scandal surrounding harvey weinstein. now a person with knowledge of the decision tells the associated press that the weinstein company will now rename itself. it's also moving to remove weinstein's name from the credits of several upcoming

television series. that follows the firing of the company's co-founder amid tawdry allegations detailing decades of sexual harassment. weinstein has not responded publically to his ouster but did apologize last week for the pain his past behavior has caused. four highly venomous spiders and six scorpions found in public bathrooms in massachusetts. they were found at a pet company in north andover. someone abandoned them in plastic containers. one of the spiders so dangerous there is no antivenom for it. the even scarier thing none of the insects are legal in massachusetts. local and environmental police are now investigating. >> big talkers now and in michigan a rare case is creating quite the conversation and the controversy. a convicted rapist has been granted joint custody of his victim's child. a judge granted 27-year-old christopher mirasolo of the

eight-year-old son born to his victim t he was convicted of raping the child's mother nine years ago. dna testing recently established paternity of the child. now the victim is seeking protection for both herself and her son under the federal rape survivor child custody act. this case by the way is believed to be the first of its kind in michigan and possibly in the nation. a woman in the netherlands using social media as her very public platform to call out cat callers. she says the idea here is to expose sexism one selfie at a time. she created the instagram account called dear cat callers. she spent a month taking selfies with all the guys she says were cat calling her and then posting them and outing them. from whistles to requests for kisses, you name it, the 20-year-old says this is about creating awareness about the

object fiction of women in daily life. she assures them cat calls are not compliments and neither is her account calling them the like so maybe they didn't really get the point. finally for ladies who love their red bottoms, christian louboutin just launched a new line of luxury shoe wear proving that apparently you're never too young to embrace designer lables. your newborn, louby babies. gywneth paltrow's web sit will be sharing them for 2250 bucks a pop. it's a collaboration between louboutin and paltrow. a bargain if you know what the adult size go for. the tag line, good taste runs in the family. they even have a fashionable gold pair and yes, the bottoms are red and everyone will see them because they won't actually hit the ground because these shoes are for children who don't even walk yet.

>> that's right but no one will see them because feet grow every day. >> yeah, and i couldn't even get my newborn to wear shoes. >> they'll outgrow them in a minute and a half. alicia thank you. time for another check on the roads. tonight matt pelman standing by in the "action news" traffic center with an update for us. >> brian going to feel like a real heel but i have to give you bad news about not so pint sized delays on the schuylkill expressway westbound resulting on red faces on the drivers because they're sitting here for quite awhile in the westbound lanes between the blue route and this point approaching 202. there's a multi vehicle accident here that was blocking the right lane for awhile. they just got it pushed off to the side. penndot and police are here. it is extra slow as you come westbound on the schuylkill towards king of prussia with speeds like just 6 miles per hour. so, what you might want to do is bail onto the blue route, 476 northbound, take that up to the turnpike westbound out toward valley forge. now, the problem is we've got a broken down vehicle on the northeast extension just north of mid-county taking out a lane so the blue route northbound is slow. although it's not as slow as

the westbound schuylkill at this point. had a crash in whitemarsh along butler pike at militia hill road but sounds like that is in the process of clearing out as have two accidents along 95 southbound near cottman and southbound near three and 20 in chester. both of those crashes are gone. now it's just normal delays. even light volume on 95 because of the holiday. a wreck along route 23 conshohocken state road at rockhill road by pat's superior auto repairs. pat, i think we need you to help out with that accident. were unin newtown square along bishop hollow road at gradyville road. in elk township chester county a new construction closure began today, even on the holiday it's the state road bridge over little elk creek. closed today through mid april so for about half a year you're without this. woods road a possible alternate for the next six months. we'll check it again, brian and alicia, coming up in the 5 o'clock hour. >> see you then my friend. thank you. a live look outside right

>> a bit of a contrast. wet and snowy out there. the action cam was out in university city and folks have on some rain gear because we did have some moisture overhead earlier. in fact looking at storm tracker6 live double scan radar 3-d you could see that heavy precipitation right now pressing into new england so just a few spotty showers left over across much of the delaware and lehigh valleys. looking at the weather headlines, good news, the rain is pulling away. it gets brighter for us on tuesday. lots of clouds as we get into later this week and we are tracking another warm weekend, still feeling like summer across the area. here's storm tracker6 live double scan radar once again and you can see we do have a couple of spotty showers scattered about the region. we'll go in tighter on street level to the north and west of philadelphia. you can see in quakertown, also into green lane we're tracking pockets of light and moderate moisture, even some rainfall there in kutztown and also to the north of fleetwood. so, this will start to pull

away and then clouds will break as we go throughout the rest of tonight. still very warm in philadelphia we're coming in at 81 degrees. 78 for allentown and reading up in the poconos right now 71. down in cape may 75 over in dover in the lower 80's. satellite6 along with action radar showing that you heavy rainfall right now pulling into new england from what's left of the remnants of nate but drier conditions. you notice moving through the ohio valley that heads our way for the rest of tonight. so, over the next 12 hours an early shower around and those clouds break overnight. we'll drop down to 63 in the suburbs and skate degrees -- 68 degrees in philadelphia for the overnight low. there's a frontal boundary that's moving through tonight with a high temperature tomorrow of 83 degrees. then you get those northerly winds that helps to drop the humidity as we get into tuesday afternoon. then we're tracking an area of low pressure out to the west for the middle half of our work week. that swings our way. so, by wednesday, sunshine early in the day, then things

quickly cloud over with a high temperature of 75 and this area of low pressure poised to bring a couple of showers our way as well. the exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast showing you tomorrow it's warm with lower humidity, especially by the afternoon. high temperature coming in at 83. then on wednesday, it's mostly cloudy, couple of showers around, high temperature of 75. on thursday we've got high pressure to the north that works its way southward and we're stuck in a bit of an easterly wind so it's a cloudy and cool day with a high temperature coming in at 68. by friday, breaks of such at 74 for the high and as we get into next weekend, more fall warmth on the way with temple back at home, a high temperature saturday of just 80. we are 15 degrees above normal by sunday at 82 and next monday it's partly sunny and dry with a high temperature coming in at 76 degrees. so, we really can't get a break. it still feels like summer across the region, maybe one fall day coming up this week, guys.
