investigate the bloodshed. two victims are still hospitalized and police believe they may have been among the intended targets. miguel soto says he was an innocent bystander we'll hear about his close call at 5:30. and hours after a fuel tanker crash an 11 mile stretch of route 1 through townsend is still closed. sara bloomquist covering the story for us, live in the satellite center with new details about the accident and the massive cleanup effort. >> reporter: that is right i have just been handed an update from del/dot. the tow company is if the process of removing the tanker, it's estimated that the northbound side of route 1 will reopen again at 4:30 barring any inforeseen circumstances and southbound will reopen at 6:30 this evening. after all the debris is cleared. this appears to be ahead of

schedule. they predicted a difficult cleanup considering that the fuel out there on the roadway is highly flammable. >> this was the scene from chopper 6 hd after the tractor trailer carrying hundreds of gallons of gasoline overturned and rolled down an embankment down the side of route 1 townsend delaware. the driver of the tractor trailer a 56-year-old vineland man suffered serious injuries. >> the driver was out of the vehicle when the townsend fire company arrived and they had them get them out. >> the chevy van with a 55-year-old dover man at the wheel was pulling a car trailer traveling on the northbound side of the highway. >> at some point the right side of the tire blew out causing the operator to lose control and the vehicle crossed the center median at route 1 and travels into the southbound lanes of route 1 and into the path of the tractor trailer hauling 8900

gallons of fuel. the highly flammable gasoline started to leak out and both sides were shut down between route 299 and the norm smyrna exit. >> this is more of a hazmat situation with the tanker truck spilling the fuel on the highway and into the ditch on both sides and we need to remediate that before we can safely reopen to traffic. >> environmental experts are on the scene overseeing the cleanup today a person on their team had to be transported to the hospital. when he or she became overcome. and traffic is diverted on to u.s. 13 and other alternate routes, the update minutes ago the northbound side of the highway expected to reopen to traffic at 4:30 southbound on a limited basis northbound at 6:30. sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. we have some more grim news out of northern california. officials say that the wild

the fuel tanker rolled over highway 1 in townsends. and carrying 8900 tons of fuel and a lot of that spill out and it's turned into a hazmat situation and both ways remain closed. this is the same graphic between north smyrna and odessa. nothing changed yet but we are expecting to get the northbound lanes open starting at 4:30, but the southbound side sounds to remain closed for remainder of the community. we are seeing delays on the southbound side approaching odessa speeds if the 20s and awful lot of detouring traffic is headed to 13. if you can stay farther away maybe up on route 9 or 301 into maryland. elsewhere in delaware the construction zone, the new one that is giving us delay as long 95 northbound and speeds in the teens as you pass concord pike. and pennsylvania normal delays

the las vegas hotel from when a gunman killed 58 concert goers last week is questioning the most recent timeline from police, a spokesperson for mg mexico says they cannot be certain about the new details. police said they believe that stephan paddock shot the hotel guard before it began. they are looking into the critical minutes between the first shot and the beginning of the massacre. an immigrant father is free to leave the sanctuary church he has been in for at least a year. javier flores walked out and we were there for the emotional reunion with his family. >> after 11 months, garcia won

reunion sharrie the victim of a terrible bullying incidents is trying to prevent it from happening to someone else. mark smith is the mentally challenged man attacked at a philadelphia bus stop in june. you remember this video. the 40-year-old is fighting for programs to stop that type of vicious behavior, he was on hand when officials introduced a resolution to recognize as october as bully prevention awareness month in pennsylvania. grocery store chain, aldi is expanding their new jersey workforce today with the goal of making 250 job offers by the end of the day. they were at the locations at collingswood this morning as applicants filled out the paperwork with their fingers crossed and they have plans for egg harbor township and ocean county. and a rare aircraft was on display in newcastle county

things going on. our systems in the upper part of the atmosphere where the weather is made are steered by the westerly winds, 20,000 feet up here as you go into tonight and the next couple of days, the westerly wind and that will be screaming out of the west but below those winds closer to where we work and live and play and just above 4,000 feet as you see below there. we have the easterly winds off the ocean and the easterly winds that is going to lock in a lot of low lying cloud cover, so unfortunately it can't break up the clouds and at times drizzle especially tomorrow morning. for the next couple of days, that is why you'll see the clouds be a little stubborn, and blame the wind off the atlantic, about 4,000 feet above our heads. as we look at stormtracker 6 live double scan a couple of light showers in salem county but the best concentration is north and west of lancaster and reading and into the lehigh

valley and the poconos. you can see a pop of yellow at times at need wood 222 hamburg and 209 slatington and as you head toward thes lehigh tunnel a wet drive here this evening. temperatures though despite the clouds and a little bit of rain they are above average, we hit 79 so far in philadelphia and normal is 69 degrees, right now 75 millville and 75 in allentown and 72 degrees coming in at beach haven. low pressure is back towards pittsburgh and cleveland and that drops down to the south, also that is going to help bring that wind out of the east coast with the low to the south and winds are clockwise around that. 11 tonight a few scattered showers and steady rain in the wee hours of the morning and then the afternoon there could be a little bit of brightening if we are good enough here late in the day at 5:30, as we take a

first holdup that day. and we begin with a triple shooting in point breeze that sent three men to the hospital last night. police say that two victims were likely the intended targets and the third man was collateral damage. and vernon odom spoke with the innocent bystander today. >> reporter: good evening brian, police are searching for two men that rained gun fire here all over the 1900 block of south bonsell street last night wounding three people. the 1900 block is quiet here in the daylight but still visible all over reminders. the wholesale violence that erupts at 11:00 as a number of man were standing outside. >> a group of men out there enjoying the evening and two males approached him and one male fired eight to ten rounds into the crowd hitting two people and they were transported

by the fire department. two of the wounded men, one 39 and one 42 have lengthy arrest sheets and may have been among the targets. they are hospitalized with leg wounds but miguel soto has a clean record and liveing along this block. >> soto tells "action news" he fled towards his house and felt a sting in the ankle and when he realized he was bleeding and had been shot. police collected surveillance video showing two men fleeing the scene but not ready for release today. the gun fire woke francis smith and his wife up. and they realized their own property was damaged. >> i was praying and the cops kept walking around the truck and then knocking on doors i'm like -- i think they are looking

also robbed a small convenience store in the unit block of long lane. if you have information you are asked to can't upper darby police. meantime police in philadelphia are investigating a gruesome mystery in the strawberry mansion section of the city. this after a man was founded in his car park add long west albert street. the victim only identified as a man between 35 and 40 years old had been shot in the head. police are investigating this death as a homicide. >> officials at coatesville high school say an incident involving a toy in a locker room was a foolish prank and not a hate crime. this dark skinned baby doll was found smeared in toothpaste and found hanging from the arm and neck by a tie. the cross country team found the doll and decided to put it in an open ceiling tile.

the lehigh valley on the verge of berks county to the poconos and a lot of this working from the southwest to the north and east. and again this is the best concentration of some of those wet roadways, this evening while most of us see the clouds at the present time. as we look at satellite and radar, low pressure is near cleveland than drops down to our south and west across parts of southern pennsylvania and northern virginia and that could bring another round of rain for southern areas as we get later this evening and overnight tonight. now the rain is more concentrated. the low clouds and lower visibility and the gloomy picture live from the pagoda cam in reading and the leaves in the foreground. still very green. given how warm it has been lately. we'll talk about the warmth, r 8:00 coming back for the weekend. and then more typical for this

half full approach than is tough today in delaware, i got off the phone with our friends at del/dot and they had a challenging day and it started at 8:20 this morning when a tanker truck carrying 8900 gallons of fuel flipped over highway one near townsend. and at least 7,000 gallons spill out and it's a hazmat situation and they are hoping to get some lanes between odessa and north smyrna open at this evening's rush. at this point all lanes remain blocked in both directions and we have major backlogs approaching. and taking a ton of detouring traffic i would avoid that as well. route 9 or 301 into maryland we'll keep you posted through the evening rush. elsewhere in delaware i told you about the waze app the concord
