block of east west moreland street just after 11:30. >> witnesses said that the male was shot, while sitting on a porch, and we checked the area of the porch of the resident we found one slug embedded in the wall behind a chair, a wicker chair, that the victim was sitting in. >> witnesses say argument at a bar nearby may have played a role. police talked to those witnesses overnight. also developing this morning police arrested a man they say tried to run down a sheriff's deputy on the south philadelphia street. action cam was at the 900 block of johnson sleet when suspect ditched his white grand prix. he was arrested a few moments later at broad and snider. investigators say late last night driver tried to hit the sheriff deputy at seventh and big letter. a 14 year-old runaway girl was in the grand prix and they are still trying to figure out y we know the girl is okay, so is the sheriff's deputy.

lock down has ended on the campus of virginia state university. following a shooting that left one man wounded. the shooting happened at about 8:25 last night during home coming weekend. one witness told police he heard at lee a dozen shots fired. victim is in the hospital where he is expected to recover. police say shooting looks like an isolated incident this does not appear to pose a further threat to students. so far there are no arrests. the controversial take a knee movement has crossed the atlantic ocean. german soccer players and coaches need before their match this weekend. the players say they stand with american athletes against determination. on twitter the club saying quote for a tolerant berlin

and open minded world now and forever more. 6:20. a eight year-old girl is dead. she fell from the deck of a carnival cruise ship, police say child fell from the ship interior atrium to the lower deck. that fall happened while the ship was actually docking in miami. retired emergency medical technician immediately started cpr. a police officer held that child's neck. she was taken to the hospital but died a few hours later. investigators are working with carnival to determine, how this could have happened. such a sad story there. coastguard rescued a connecticut man stranded for 17 hours in the long island sound. mike diaz was fishing in his kyack when winds and waves he says began to pick up. he says he was just off cher from lloyd neck, long island when the kyack capsized. the current carried him more than 8 miles before he made to it a light house. >> i was, very much aware of the gravity of the situation. i was also aware that
